Ian Brown's solo material just proves he was the most talented member of the Roses. Hope he starts touring with a full band including aziz again.

Shaun, I agree. Ian Brown thinks & senses differently to most people. Just look at what he does. The product of an unconventional mind. I wonder if faith is part of it?
I’m a scientist & Browny /Brownie called it pretty much spot on, long before it was strictly possible to know. Further, as someone brought up outside any faith, I’ve been drawn to it by the evil I face every day. Anyway, I’ve called deeply in love with Mr Ian Brown’s works. Bloody Manc Magnum Opus.

I was in the crowd. I remember it was the World Cup and he went down to the front row and took an England flag off someone, brought it onstage, held it up and everyone cheered. Then he tried to set it on fire with his cheap disposable lighter and it just wouldn't burn at all. Quite a few people in the crowd started booing. He kept trying for ages but the flame kept going out and then he gave up. I remember feeling a bit embarrassed for him....
I also remember really enjoying his set after loving his first two albums and being the first time I'd seen him live I didn't notice at all how awful the vocals were which is pretty strange watching this now. Also met him briefly backstage and he was a really lovely, humble guy. Can't believe it was over 20 years ago now...!

@@vanman757 haha just an honest review I guess! Balancing my thoughts and memories from the time against watching this video 20 years later. I wasn't insulting him per se, I just remember thinking he deserved to own a better lighter and now UA-cam exists and I can watch him sober at home, I don't think he's a very good singer live (but we all know that don't we - even if some people can't admit it).

@@ricjuk saw Ian live at Brixton O2 Academy a couple of weeks ago... Last UK tournee people and journalists all over Europe have been calling the tour as a bad karaoke joke. We all know as you say that Ian doesn't have the best vocals but honestly the gig had a great atmosphere and Ian didn't sound like an "old uncle at the house party doing karaoke of Ian Brown stuff" as journalists wrote. I think the value of his live appearances go far beyond the sheer quality of the vocal performance. And also I travelled from Italy to see him live. Wish I could have seen him in glasto 20 years ago like you. Regarding the flag, that's just typical IB bravado on stage, nothing new I guess 😂

Ian was a little too cool back then you’d do somethin goofy when he walked in, it was a bit gay. Not cool but he looked like some kind of Mowgli Morrison with the nature boy trip. Gave way to some really unique music whoever he employed, you won’t hear the likes of again
