@@lo2713 Yeah I just checked the specs. It’s about 20mm narrower and 20mm shorter wheelbase than the XV02. You could still do a really cool street version on BBS splits and lowered suspension. It comes on the 4wd chassis but you could get the body and chuck it on a Fwd one for realism. 👍

Timing!
Just finished my XV-02 last weekend complete with Yeah racing screws and Killerbodies Impreza.
Was tempted by the slipper as you mentioned but still not sure if I'll get to the bit enough to need it. Can't wait to see if you'll upgrade yours.
Only 1 tip: the MA6 diff hex screws are very easy to strip the heads. I used all 4 spares in the kit to get mine completed, grr.
Will be getting the new Yaris Rally 1 body once it's available.
Can't wait to see how your Yaris WRC one turns out.
I have picked up the mid diff option tonight but apart from that, I think I will just stick with it for a while to see how I get on.

I really enjoyed this kit too ! I did michelin escot body . Hot Shot II Blockhead & BBX pre-ordered . Was hoping Kyosho would drop couple more legendary series cars
I don' think we will see another Kyosho legendary kit until the end of the year but I'm just guessing

I went for the centre diff option as thats a little less. it is a shame to not see it in the Pro kit.
I loved my xv02 build in but I put a one way in the front the slipper center blue uprights lowed it and set it up with a killer bodies suby and made it look like a tarmac ralley car

You have to shorten the wheel base to fit the subi with the wheels centered
I could be wrong here but my understanding at least is that the Max10 combo only has thermal protection sensing for the motor. It doesn’t come with the rotor sensing which helps to smooth out acceleration at low speeds.
On the point of the screws needing undoing to unfold those battery corners, I watched another video where the presenter suggested that you don't need the screws in there, as the dust cover holds them in place when installed.

Like to get one of these myself. Since I own 2 XV-01 cars it's hard to justify , especially with no organized Rally racing nearby.

That max10 ESC motor combo you mentioned is sensor less, not sensored, (SL) in the part number. Which one are you going to use for sensored ? As max10 are not sensored. They have a extra wire from the ESC to the motor but this is for temperature sensing of the motor not motor control/sensing as in a sensor motor setup.
Yep you are correct. I will have to spend a little more for a HobbyWing censored motor
@@RCKickschannel would be good to know which one you end up with, unfortunately they don't seem to have a max10 with 5400kv combo equivalent in sensored off the shelf 🤔
Hey Gavin, great build video. I completely enjoyed mine and built with a centre diff as you need something else in the centre to play with the overdrive. Did you have any issues with the diffs? I over tightened one of the screws which then wouldn’t come out. I had to buy a whole new case but perhaps those lovely YR screws meant your didn’t have that issue. The Yaris body will be great and can’t wait to see it finished pal 👍🏻🙌🏻
No issues with the diff top screws but I have done the same thing to one of mine so I know to go super easy. I just placed an order for the centre diff as thats a good way to go for not too much money.

Edit: Good old Kamtec have a nice range of 10th bodies that don't break the bank if you're in the UK.

The best video I have for upgrades on the TT02 chassis is my TT02B. Its the buggy version but 95% of the upgrades can be for the TT02. The video is an early one so sorry about the quality. That said it has loads of info on the upgrades so it still has value. ua-cam.com/video/T-FK2jMn2nE/v-deo.html

Cracking video and build, love the hop ups but seemed super straight out of the box! Not keen on the music tho sadly, overly loud and a bit odd! Bring back the dance, loved the music you added back in 2020, just sayin' 👍😊

Are oil diffs noisy? My tto2b ones are, is that why they made those with 4 gears instead of 2?

i wonder if torque twist is an issue on this chassis.
i saw my friend's CC01... one side of the front lifts up. since then i have lost faith in all shaft drive cars.
and i wanted an XV02 rather badly.
I will be putting some brushless power in this, so I will check for that.
Great looking bit of kit here. My only concern is that Tamiya doesn't include more of the extra aluminum upgrades. They do on the TT02BR. Those XV is about $100 more than the BR. Puzzling to me......
Isn't the slipper clutch mandatory if you are using the 40T gear?
No I don't think so but to get the most out of the chassis, fitting the centre diff is a big help.
@@RCKickschannel A centre diff or a slipper clutch would prevent a lot of strain on the drive line whe nusing the 39T and 40T gear together, especially while driving in a straight line on tarmac. Maybe less in the dirt.
Gavin, I was wondering which one you think is better the XV-01 or the XV-02 chassis?
100% the XV-02 is better, especially if you spend the extra £40 and add a centre diff. That said the XV-02 is loads more expensive than an XV-01 (XV-01 is £200 and XV-02 is £319 UK Feb 2023) so the burning question is, is it really worth it? I would say probably no for most people as the XV-01 is still a fantastic rally chassis and with the £160 you still have left, you can spend half of that on upgrades the XV-01 and it won't be far off the XV-02 spec, plus the remaining £80 can go towards a quality brushless ESC and motor combo from say Hobbywing. If money isn't a big factor for you, go XV-02. One thing that's a bit of a pain currently with the XV-02, the default body mount locations limits the amount of body options currently available. That said you can mod the XV-02 to work with the more popular body mount fitment.

Its a beautiful kit no question about that but its incredibly expensive considering most of parts are all plastic, thinking about it its cost as much as my Arrma Senton 3s …yes ..yes I know, totally different models. This one is more for racing than a basher but for that money I was at least expecting metal diffs or a slipper as standard. I also have an LC racing 1/14 model (stadium truck) which I forgot the model number which at the same price its very well equipped..yes I know ..its a 1/14 not a 1/10 but maybe you understand what I mean.
I understand what you are saying but it’s best to look at other dedicated rally chassis kits as a comparison. An RC rally fan will see more value for an XV-02 Vs say a RTR basher. I do agree it’s an expensive kit, especially when you add in another £40 for a centre diff. Currently the XV-01 chassis kit is around £192. That’s £120 ish less than an XV-02 Pro so a big chunk of savings. I guess you have to factor in the bearings, metal dampers but you would still have around £60-£70 in your pocket for a body and one or two upgrades like universal driveshafts.
