    I’ve done a lot of research throughout my Power BI learning journey, and the volume of information can be overwhelming. In this video, I’d like to present and simplify some of the best practices I’ve adopted when developing Power BI reports for an efficient and optimal data loading and transformation.

    This is great! You mentioned separating the data from the visuals and endorsing datasets. Sounds good. What EntDNA videos would walk me through this?

    • @gregphilpsful
      @gregphilpsful 3 роки тому

      I don't believe there are any videos, but the endorsement process has been discussed on the eDNA Support Forum, and there are many online resources about separate dataset and report development

    Thanks for sharing. What is the idea behind reference data in your best practise tips?

    • @gregphilpsful
      @gregphilpsful 3 роки тому +3

      Hi Daniel. An example of referencing data might be when importing a single flat table (call it "raw"), then creating a proper data model with separate lookup and fact tables by referencing the "raw" table as many times as desired; load once, use many.

      @@gregphilpsful Ok thanks I see. I guess people should use databases directly more often

    Interesting tips! Quick Q, what's the best practices to work with data with different granularity level within a report?

    • @gregphilpsful
      @gregphilpsful 3 роки тому

      Hi Afshin. The same granularity is ideal, but often differences in the data you get are unavoidable, and when they do, they can be handled in PQ or DAX; search the resources on the Enterprise DNA site for more info (I referenced the DAX for budget allocation in the presentation). Greg

    After the data preview is displayed, Load and Transform buttons are greyed out. Pls what is the causes?

    • @EnterpriseDNA
      @EnterpriseDNA  Рік тому

      Hi Wasiu,
      Thank you for posting your query onto our channel. We really appreciate you taking your valuable time to post it.
      We're not sure about what would be the cause of this problem. And it's always a little bit difficult to judge and provide the results without looking at the data structure, model and working of the PBIX file for the reference.
      And therefore we encourage you to please write back to us onto our Community Forum by providing the proper description of the problem that you're facing along with the PBIX file for the reference as well as the mock-up results that you're trying to achieve where our members as well as experts team will be able to assist you in a better and efficient manner. Below is the link of the forum provided for the reference.
      Hoping you find this useful! You can subscribe to our UA-cam channel so that you won't miss out on any Power BI updates. You can also join our LinkedIn group to receive latest updates on Power BI.
      Cheers,

    Very good package of tips :-) For performace reasons, in QueryEditor, should we choose the columns first, and then filter the rows or the contrary?

    • @gregphilpsful
      @gregphilpsful 3 роки тому

      I don't think it matters ... the data won't be loaded into the model once "close and apply" is selected
