The Strats too dangerous for the GTA V Speedrun

- Casual vs Speedrun in GTAV didn't cover ever single strat - some of them are too dangerous to use in the run. A "strat" is shorthand for strategy, like a specific route or action we take within the speedrun.
Some of these strats are new, and some have been known for a long time, like the Shootout with Franklin in Paleto Score, but we haven't needed to push hard to try them yet. Now that the speedrun is getting more optimized (meaning that the times are getting closer and closer together as people max out the game), all the little strats really add up. 2 seconds here 3 seconds there seems small for a 6 hour run, but this video alone has almost a minute of strats - it adds up.
Some of these strats like the ladder glitch came from viewers of my youtube or twitch. It's super awesome how we're saving time from the community, literally. Really enjoy trying stuff out, even when it means I'm jumping out of a blimp or flying into a house at 100mph during the speedrun.
San Andreas Speedruns are a work in progress still, i wanna do Casual VS Speedrun just right for that game. As of this upload I still have world record in the Classic% category, and am trying to improve it before burhac catches up :)

Imagine if some absolute madman did all these time saving tricks successfully in one single run. It’s never going to happen but it would be absolutely glorious if it did
They may seem redundant now but as speedruns advance people master these and use them every run
Never say never. Every now and then we see a run thought to be impossible completed for WR pace. God runs are rare but do occur

It would be glorious but would likely take like 8 years of daily attempts and even the most ardent speed run nerd would give up in rage, 5 or 6 years in 😔

When I was playing the last mission of GTA 4, I ran Fraps and told it to record at 30fps. When I needed to limit my framerate for the section where you enter the helicopter, I pressed a hotkey to start recording, which forced my game to run at 30fps. Would something like that be allowed in GTA 5 speedruns, or would you not be allowed to use an external program to limit your framerate?
I don't believe you are allowed to use external programs for any form of time save, though that sounds like a great idea
That helicopter section... I never finished that game because of that, could never get in the helicopter. Mere minutes away from finishing the game and I couldn't do it because I wasn't proficient enough at pressing the damn space bar. Hardest final boss ever. I'd like to slap the person who thought it was a good idea to put that final impassable dumb hurdle right before the end of the game and, if I recall correctly, after a pretty long shootout with no checkpoint inbetween.
@@Huntracony pressing space to get into helicopter wasnt hard intentionally, it was a bug. hail great gta 4 pc port
@@Huntracony They based the rate you need to spam jump at on the framerate, so you have to somehow lower it down by eg. using Fraps or using task manager to limit the number of cores GTA 4 can use.
Is it dumb? Yes. They should've implemented a constant tick rate and base all timings off that, like Half Life 2 did in 2004. Or at least playtest the darn port on a good PC. Or fix it in an update.
@@Huntracony it was a 'bug', if you have a multi-core processor... i learned myself that you need to disable multi-core processing to make it doable..

8:50 how about instead of a Grenade you use a sticky bomb? I know it could be limiting in a run but possibly worth to check out. Simply drop the sticky and before running out the door blow it up. It could be safer and just as fast as the risky.
it's cause you don't have sticky bombs at that point in the game. Wade gives you them in Friends Reunited (the mission after crystal maze)
The only other way to get sticky bombs is on the map in Los Santos. you can't taxi in classic% so not worth the time

Hands down, the most fun gta V strat video I've ever seen.
I know that to make more you essentially have to discover new starts which is a lot of work, but please make more of these.
Yep if i find more strats i will make more like this, but theres no guarantee. i left out a few "risky" strats that were very boring, not really worth being in a video.

At the crystal maze risky strat, cant you use trevor's superpower to survive the explosions?
It's probably a scripted thing. If you get hit by damage from it, you'll automatically fail. (Assuming)

I think if you get caught in the explosion while using Trevor's power you get randomly knocked around the house, until you run out of power and die (or randomly get thrown out of the door, if you're VERY lucky). Saw that happen in a few DarkViperAU highlight videos.

I can remember missions, but not the speedruns route to the mission. I can only remember iconic ones like blimp strat and the beginning of Franklin & Lamar where you should get ahead to get boost from Lamar.
