Very cool foundation chain and stitch. Have watched 2 of your videos now and just love your voice. Your instructions are wonderful. Looking forward to seeing what else you have created. Happy Hooking from someone who has been crocheting for over 60 years.
I finally understand foundation double crochet! Thanks so much! You have explained this stitch in a way that I understand it. I have been crocheting for over 40 years & you've taught me something new.
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I have always wanted to learn to make a shrug/cardigan, but can't find any tutorials for shrugs/cardigans that I like. Not to mention your tutorials are GREAT! They're easy to follow and you're so clear and you take everything slow, I love it! I can't wait to see more tutorials from you! XOXO, love from New York!
Ohmygosh! I have tried and tried to learn the foundation stitch and it finally just clicked in my head. With your stitches, I clearly see the chain and the dc of the foundation dc. Thank you SO much!
Thank you so much for sharing this method! I always dread the long chain, so learning this way of making the chain along with the first row is amazing! Can't thank you enough!
Thank you for the great demonstration of foundation treble crochet (UK terms, as I'm British). This is a great project that I have to make. Pretty nails too, by the way 😊
Quick correction, a foundation crochet actually goes under 2 loops: the loop you went under and the back bar behind the chain. This creates a series of V's which mimic the V's of the crochet stitches. Other than that, I love the final result.
to get the right size, where should i measure? from elbow to elbow? from arm to arm over the shoulder? i would really like to make one that fits the first time. love the video and the instructions. very easy to follow.
This was super helpful! I'm making this project now and I just made it supper long to have nice sized sleeves... a lazy way out but it works lol now that I realize sleeves are super easy to make I don't have to make a super huge rectangle to suit my super long arms
Hi V MD, I noticed you're making yours long as I want to for mine. I've only been crocheting for 2 weeks taught by UA-cam videos. Do you mine my contacting you if I run inti problems crocheting my Shrug? Also, I'm glad your post was made just a week ago, so I'm hoping that will increase my chances of you getting this message. Thanks.
This foundation chain technique?? Amazing for a beginner like me! Thank you! This design is Amazing, by the way! Christmas and birthday gifts that my gals will love!
I haven't done any in over two decades, but really fancy having a go at this. Maybe ambitious, but looks fun to make. What size hook and wool should I go buy ?
Would love to know how to make this in a bigger size, plus size actually. I am a beginner with crochet so, any help would be great! Awesome Video!! Thank you so much!
+SimplyHookedCrochet Girl maybe it's because I live in Tulsa but the colors that they sell here aren't cute and their brands aren't that extensive. What do you think?
+Seany Denson I've noticed that too in some cities. But since I live in a major city, those stores tend to be pretty big. My recommendation to you is to possibly find a local yarn store. While the yarn will be a little more expensive, the quality (dye and fiber wise) will be way better!(:
+Seany Denson Hi. There's an online company you can order from called the yarn factory outlet. They sell yarn for really cheap prices. But they have bernat, peaches and creme, patons, lily, caron, and a couple more.
Hello! Love your videos! Can you tell me how many balls of color 1 did you use? You indicated three balls of the grey marl are required. Is that the lighter color used for the center rows 13-54? Your project is beautiful and I am looking forward to making it. Thanks so much. Linda
Hello, I have a question. I always use stitch markers at the beginning and at the and of a row. Where do i put my last stitch of the row? In the second chain from the chain 2? Or in the first DC? Because i don't want to increase or decrease😁.
Hello, what wool did you use here or what would be a good alternative to the wool you used as I can't find the wool that you mentioned anywhere, thank you, will definitely be making this once I get the right wool 😊
www.expressionfiberarts.com has the most beautiful yarns I have ever seen. I don't have anything to do with the site just a huge fan! I don't have good yarn stores near me. But after using "the good stuff" its hard to go back to cheap Walmart yarn :) Plus I hoard the good stuff for myself! lol.
How much yarn do you use for this shrug.. The gray marled color was mentioned as 3 balls (630 yards). How much do I get totally? Can you help me on this.. This project is too cute... Cant wait to begin!!
Hi " SCH" I live in England U.K. can you tell me what size is 4 to 6 in UK sizing please and am not aware of US sizing, I am a 18/20 size, I love the Vid Tutorial, many thanks.
Tamera Siracuse. Hi did you ever find out the answer? I'm fairly new to Crochet and love this. And I also need a much larger size, like 1 or 2 x, preferably the bigger the better I hate tight clothes. :-) Thanks and have a great day.
i have found if you measure from shoulder to shoulder then make that size chain you should be okay, for this one i cranked up my hook to a 7.00m size and hoping for the best
I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I'm using Red Heart. It's a 4 medium worsted yarn. I'm using a size H hook. But my piece is very heavy, unlike yours that's so airy. Mine will be extremely warm, there are almost no holes, it's very tight. Am I using the wrong yarn or just crocheting too tight? I've got 20 rows done and I'm wondering if I should pull it apart and start over. It's going to be like wearing a blanket not a cozy shrug. Any advice would be appreciated. I know you don't have a picture. I wish I could upload one.
Sherry Wortman i think its about tension ...hers is very loose, urs may be tighter cause the same thing happens to me....if you use a bigger hook, it will stop happening, at least thats what helped me😊
Zhane Lambert thanks, I was thinking that but it's been so long since I've crocheted I was doubting myself. Thanks for the help. Good news was when I looked at what I had done and I'd seen you tubers doing purses I thought I had a great start on a purse. I folded up what I had done and crocheted 2 end pieces and sewed it all together. I just need a strap and maybe a flap to close my purse in. I love UA-cam you can always find inspiration. But I really want to make this shrug. So I'll try a bigger hook. 😜
Zhane Lambert thank you again. I've started a new shrug and I've bumped my crochet hook up to a K (8.5mm) and what a difference. Thanks to you and of course our lovely instructor I think I might actually make this shrug. I've only done granny squares and a simple baby blankets in the past. I can't wait to make something I can wear or in this case give to someone who can wear it.
Yeah, she tends to crochet pretty loosely so when following her patterns it tends to be better to hold a looser tension than I think most people would or to use a hook size bigger to compensate.
I'm so grateful for you!I am a teen crocheter and sometime it's hard to find cute stuff to make, but you never disappoint! You are a great teacher💗
Andrea Carter congrats to u teen, have fun, God bless u
I love that you put the pattern in the video, and you are super well spoken and give great demonstrations. Love the videos!

Your descriptions of how you create are SO easy to understand!
Well done. Your videos are easy to follow. The pace is just right and your left fingers do not obscure where the needle is going.

Wow, what a great-looking video, really slick and easy to understand. I can't wait to try this project!

This was the best explanation so far. Thank you.
So beautiful!!!! Thanks for sharing your patterns!!

This pattern turned out beautiful
Hey hey. 1. I absolutely love your easy tutorials. You have helped make crocheting so much fun for me. 2. Where do you purchase your yarn?
+Seany Denson Hey hey! I'm glad to hear that. I get my yarn mostly from Michaels and JoAnn's Fabric.
+SimplyHookedCrochet I wish that there was a different option than that but I understand. Thanks for your input.
+Seany Denson Hi. There's an online company you can order from called the yarn factory outlet. They sell yarn for really cheap prices. But they have bernat, peaches and creme, patons, lily, caron, and a couple more.
A great and simple tutorial. Quick question: how many skeins of worsted weight yarn did you use in total? the first color said "unknown". thanks.
Hello! Love your videos! Can you tell me how many balls of color 1 did you use? You indicated three balls of the grey marl are required. Is that the lighter color used for the center rows 13-54? Your project is beautiful and I am looking forward to making it. Thanks so much. Linda
I wonder if something like this can be made on a knitting loom because I cannot crochet.
does anyone know why she gone months at a time?
she taught me how to crochet and i adore her and her videos.
Vaneli Cruz I was wondering the same thing myself.
Very simple I will be making this.
Thanks love 🤗🌞
So awesome thanks! I love this pattern for this shrug!
Love this! You're so talented!!
Hello,
I have a question.
I always use stitch markers at the beginning and at the and of a row.
Where do i put my last stitch of the row? In the second chain from the chain 2? Or in the first DC? Because i don't want to increase or decrease😁.

How much yarn do you use for this shrug.. The gray marled color was mentioned as 3 balls (630 yards). How much do I get totally? Can you help me on this.. This project is too cute... Cant wait to begin!!
Maria Tayenjam same question 😅
Maria Tayenjam if you go to her blog, it tells you how much yarn. The link is underneath her video.

Hi Simply crochet !
I love this tutorial ❤

I’m allergic to Wool. Can a medium weight #4 be used?
Your a great teacher !!
Hi " SCH" I live in England U.K. can you tell me what size is 4 to 6 in UK sizing please and am not aware of US sizing, I am a 18/20 size, I love the Vid Tutorial, many thanks.
I love this channel
Hola soy de Argentina podras poner subtítulos en Español me encanta lo que haces!!
I am twice your size, so should I double the foundation stitch to 140 and the armhole to 52? Thanks in advance.
Tamera Siracuse. Hi did you ever find out the answer? I'm fairly new to Crochet and love this. And I also need a much larger size, like 1 or 2 x, preferably the bigger the better I hate tight clothes. :-)

Tamera Siracuse me too, lol, that's what I wondered
Did anyone find out the size for u plus size girls?
When you said you were gonna add a second color I was like yay something other than grey. Then it was light grey. Lol. Enjoy your videos tho!
Thank you I’m going to make this for my sister❤️
This is a great video!! I am a plus size girl and I was wondering if this shrug will be able to fit me or would I need to modify it?Thank you!
+Nathan Hall Thanks you !!! 😁
yayyy you back !!!
You dont explain or show when seeing up the sides of the main piece, are you seeing from the fold downnorvfrom the open end up. Confusing!

Sherry Wortmanw0
I can't crochet that loosely and keep my work even so I just switched to a 10.00mm needle and did my chain from shoulder to shoulder measurement.
I can't wait to make this
Would have love to see how it looks on you.
Aubrey she shows it on in the very beginning 😄
What is the final measurement of the regtangle. ..Thank you
how many stitches for base row for a medium?
Hey do u have a video for crocheting a camera buddy
when are you going to be making more tutorials?!
How many yards did you use for this shrug?
Any chance of having a printed pattern .
Do you always crochet so loosely?
Yeah, she tends to crochet pretty loosely so when following her patterns it tends to be better to hold a looser tension than I think most people would or to use a hook size bigger to compensate.
She does tend to. Like someone suggested you could use a bigger hook or compensate and add more to get the length you want.
Again if you can up load a tutorial of everything. I think is good that you put pictures, maybe this will teach how to read a pattern
is this a one size shrug??
I'm not really understanding how to make the sleeves please help ☹
how long did this take you?
Anything New for the Fall?
Thank you.👍
What size maybe this can be?
+Lisa Darling I'd say a women's 4 or 6
