    Thank you so much for this tutorial! I have always wanted to learn to make a shrug/cardigan, but can't find any tutorials for shrugs/cardigans that I like. Not to mention your tutorials are GREAT! They're easy to follow and you're so clear and you take everything slow, I love it!

    Quick correction, a foundation crochet actually goes under 2 loops: the loop you went under and the back bar behind the chain. This creates a series of V's which mimic the V's of the crochet stitches. Other than that, I love the final result.

      +SimplyHookedCrochet Girl maybe it's because I live in Tulsa but the colors that they sell here aren't cute and their brands aren't that extensive. What do you think?

    • @SimplyHookedCrochet
      @SimplyHookedCrochet  9 років тому +1

      +Seany Denson I've noticed that too in some cities. But since I live in a major city, those stores tend to be pretty big. My recommendation to you is to possibly find a local yarn store. While the yarn will be a little more expensive, the quality (dye and fiber wise) will be way better!(:

    Hello,
    I have a question.
    I always use stitch markers at the beginning and at the and of a row.
    Where do i put my last stitch of the row? In the second chain from the chain 2? Or in the first DC? Because i don't want to increase or decrease😁.

  • @sherrywortman2267

    I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I'm using Red Heart. It's a 4 medium worsted yarn. I'm using a size H hook. But my piece is very heavy, unlike yours that's so airy. Mine will be extremely warm, there are almost no holes, it's very tight. Am I using the wrong yarn or just crocheting too tight? I've got 20 rows done and I'm wondering if I should pull it apart and start over. It's going to be like wearing a blanket not a cozy shrug. Any advice would be appreciated. I know you don't have a picture. I wish I could upload one.

    • @zhanelambert4974
      @zhanelambert4974 8 років тому +3

      Sherry Wortman i think its about tension
      ...hers is very loose, urs may be tighter cause the same thing happens to me....if you use a bigger hook, it will stop happening, at least thats what helped me😊

    • @sherrywortman2267
      @sherrywortman2267 8 років тому

      Zhane Lambert thanks, I was thinking that but it's been so long since I've crocheted I was doubting myself. Thanks for the help. Good news was when I looked at what I had done and I'd seen you tubers doing purses I thought I had a great start on a purse. I folded up what I had done and crocheted 2 end pieces and sewed it all together. I just need a strap and maybe a flap to close my purse in. I love UA-cam you can always find inspiration. But I really want to make this shrug. So I'll try a bigger hook. 😜

    • @sherrywortman2267
      @sherrywortman2267 8 років тому +1

      Zhane Lambert thank you again. I've started a new shrug and I've bumped my crochet hook up to a K (8.5mm) and what a difference. Thanks to you and of course our lovely instructor I think I might actually make this shrug. I've only done granny squares and a simple baby blankets in the past. I can't wait to make something I can wear or in this case give to someone who can wear it.

      Yeah, she tends to crochet pretty loosely so when following her patterns it tends to be better to hold a looser tension than I think most people would or to use a hook size bigger to compensate.
