These videos have slowly become my favorite mtg content videos. I know I can sift through decks on mtg online, but I like to see which decks Wake picks out each week. Gives me ideas as to what to play for the week at my LGS.
Maybe that Temur Breach playability/success on modo was hindered by the amount of lag we recently experienced on the platform. In paper it was more popular (RC Prague data). Great vid as usual, keep the great job up!!
Pretty sure glarb will allow you to cast with the impending cost, mainly because glarb isn’t look for what you spend on the spell but whet the cmc actually is.
Everytime Pioneer develops a fun decent deck it get a ban. No wonder it's just become standard plus. I want my Sorin back. That was such a cool deck. I bet with Bloodghast on the way there might be a good vampire and dredge deck on the way.
10:30 well to be honest that was the point of extended and modern at one point, to play your standard decks in a non-rotating format and possibly upgrading them with a few better cards before Modern slowly turned into legacy in that regard pioneer is a sucess.
At the opening of the Modern section you note that there are more modern challenges than those of standard and pioneer. I'd have to assume it's because people can play standard/99.8% Pioneer on MTGA and they cannot play Modern so you're splitting your gamers of those formats.
sometimes i don't even understand the critiques of pioneer, if there ever becomes an established meta of some top decks a ban is most certainly to hit it. D00m says that it has no identity. But other times i hear that they want change in the meta and shifts in what is played. So, is it supposed to have an identity and established decks, or change a lot like standard. Also, it is a newer being built through standard, and Foundations kind of marks a new power creep level in magic design for standard sets and, how could pioneer's card pool compete with that. At this point I'm not even sure what my expectations of Pioneer should be, i play more "explorer" than pioneer now adays, and that split isn't doing pioneer any favors either (its confusing to new players). What do i hope for pioneer in the future: Pioneer will be better with each set and establish itself over time, each new power crept set it gets to add it will become a format of a lot of power crept sets and that environment will have a lot of different decks around the same power level. The past standard sets are enchantments and artifacts (in this new power crept world we live in), a couple of corner stones to deck building.... so the future is.... you know not really bright and before the format really gets a chance to mature wizards will probably inject some horizons set with its focus being on Companions and Extra Turn spells and complete nuke the format. either way Thanks for the content D00m and keep at it!
I am gonna be honest, the stagnation of pioneer and lack of self identity, leads me to believe that we are one step closer to pioneer horizons. Which its is ,by comparison to modern, something that i wouldnt like to the format UNLESS the said set would be a conglomeration of old sets. Man I really wish they bring old Innistrad block just to test the water.
The thing I find disappointing about Pioneer is that the threats get to be aggressively-costed, flexible, resilient, and card advantage generating like fable, esika's chariot, and enduring innocence while the answers come with a list of conditions and downsides like Extinction Event and Get Lost. Fatal Push is the one removal spell in the format that feels actively powerful and not just the best of a bad bunch, but you can only run four. Standard being a bit slower and with less threat diversity goes a long way to making it feel more manageable, whereas in pioneer half the time you just lose on turn 3 because your opponent played thoughtseize into greasefang without you ever getting to make a relevant decision.

Life is simple. I see d00mwake in a meta pie, I watch and like the video. Subscribe!

As this is meta analysis series, I like the idea of 3 meta, 1 off meta deck better but I’ll still be watching!
I support the change of not calling a deck with basically no taxing effects "Taxes"
o7
Standard absolutely rules right now. It’s like no matter what I want to do I can at least make a tier 2 power level deck to do it.
Agreed!
you made me try bo3 and have been loving it so far even if it is more expensive in rares, your videos keep me updated on good lists
Glad I could help!
Yes, you can impend the Overlords off Glarb, it's as busted as it sounds. Balemurk also just happens to be a good way to shuffle the top of your deck.
Thanks! This is very helpful

Glarb overlord impending dose work i played him in sultia beans last season and he was sick but lanowar elvs pushed me to drop blue
Love to see d00m 2x in a week, here and in dive down! Bro has been talking a lot about mox opal for sure
Did you see a Gruul Delirium deck placed in one of the challenges? Think it got 6th on the 1/25/25 Challenge!
I did! Looked clean
Great content, d00m.
Breach being less played most likely has to do with the price

Why did we change from death and taxes? Is it offensive or something? I generally wanna know.
The taxes gamers said it wasn't "taxing" enough

When people complain about Modern it is often rooted in it's failure to achieve this exact dynamic in its metagame.
Scales went 9-5 at Prague! The deck isn't dead ..... right?? Theres still hope?? 😅😭😭
I SEE GLARB I CLICK VIDEO
