Great advice Traveling sista!! I am a African American in Ghana and since being here two things I've learned when you have a negative and arrogant spirit you will have many obstacles in Ghana. If you have a positive and humble spirit the doors will open with little effort. Whatever energy you put into the universe is exactly what you will receive back from it.

    You are right! spot on!
    6 more reasons.
    1. bureaucracy (this is formerly socialist country)
    2. dual citizenship (not allowed).
    3. Foreigners can not own land (except for investment)
4.People prefer Swahili ( if you learn the language, a lot of doors are opened).
    5. Conservative attitude(Tanzanian don't want to be on camera/women are expected to dress modestly). e.g. I don't know any full time Tanzanian local UA-camrs! (Most youtubers are returnees)
6.People expect everyone to be religious (atheism is not understood)."People will ask which church or mosque you go to !"
( I have never seen a public official sworn without either the Quran or the Bible).

even in the US when you move from state to state you have to adjust to change. especially from NY to down south. new Yorkers call people from the south slow. so its an adjustment everywhere.

Kat, I really wanna thank you for making this video. There was a video I came across a few weeks back about this man who had recently moved to Tanzania w/ his family and was originally from Texas. He had moved into a home on the outskirts of Dar. When I tell you (and I'm not even exaggerating) that 90% of everything he had to say about Tanzania in that video was negative. Just negative vibes all around. That was the first and last video I watched of his.
I truly appreciate you because if more people just watched your videos they wouldn't move to TZ with all that negativity.

Having lived in the country for 15 years, I can only agree with you, having learned Swahili rather well, better than many locals, and was lucky to have Nyerere come to greet me whilst I was constructing the north access of the Ngurdoto crater rim. I did not know who he was, and we chatted away in Swahili, but discovered a few days later who he was when I returned to Arusha. He was a humble person, never saying that he was the President of the country.
I left my heart there, though moving to many other countries since then.

I think that a lot of what people see in Africa is less about culture and more about standards. I am Nigerian and in Nigeria we have all these same issues .But when Nigerians come to America they become the over achievers of overachievers .When it comes to work or school they ,they are efficient , on time and go the extra mile .Nigerians as a group, are some of the most successful people in America, second only to Asians! In Africa we have let a lot of things slide ,we accept as the norm such low standards .Substandard infrastructure , lack of water and electricity. Lack of order and systems. It is holding us back as a continent big time!

Yes, I agree. But please know that a lot of African-American people are suffering from Post-Traumatic Slave Syndrome. This is a definite hindrance for them in America. We too are very hard working but there is so much more affecting a lot of us here.
