My grandad flew Gnats (known affectionately as sabre slayers) in the 71 conflict. always praised the bravery of PAF pilots... never backed out from fights even after being outnumbered, relied on guns rather than missiles and exceptionally brave!

I will never understand the logic of naming the Gnats "Sabre Slayers". They only downed a handful of Sabres in East Pakistan. Maybe for propaganda purposes but what's the point of it when those same Sabres were massacring IAF Hawker Hunters and Gnats too. Not to mention the that one time of a Canadair Sabre shooting down a Mig-21 and some Sukhoi Su-7s. That's what slaying is.

I am from Bangladesh and was only 12 years old in 1965. About 57 later, we still have a vivid memory of 1965 war. We will never forget the bravery of PAF pilots in that war.

Great Fighter Pilot of Pakistan, Salute !
Sir, my late father worked with Air Vice Marshall Keelor. He became the most decorated pilot in the IAF. I had the pleasure of meeting him too when I was a young boy. Good to hear stories from the other side.
Sir it is a shame as a nation we know Bollywood actors but not our real heroes of 65 and 71 including yourself flt lt Yunus, Cecil Chaudhry, rafiqui sab. But whoever and wherever a Pakistani know you you are our hero and always will be or role models. You are the real son of this motherland 💚💚💚💚
Regrettably Cecil should never be bracketed with the Aces Rafiqui and Yunus. Cecil had abandoned his formation leader n Yunus during battle and concoted th story on his way back.

But the most pertinent thing to note is that he keeps stating the lack of modern navigation, that's available to PAF today. He still is so keen and has kept himself informed. Another thing, our hero reads, reads real books.
I hope we inculcate that habit as well

Same here mine was PAF chaklala RWP and our house was Rafiqui too we never had idea at that time what exactly this meant but now i feel proud of our officers who laid down there lives for us.

In reality they were miles and miles away from their homeland, no arms or artillery left and yet they were still fighting, thrashing you cowards and your paid mukti bahni with whatever they got, so badly that your pm went running to america crying, asking for help because you all couldn't contain our lion hearts.
After that they were ordered to back down and yet they didn't until the pressure mounted till the last minute, and I'm darn sure even at that situation they spat on you all.
SSH is a living PAF legend....ace pilot, courageous, forthright, exceptional leader and brutally honest......but paid the ultimate price of his outstanding career.....for speaking his mind in front of the most brutal & ruthless dictator of his time Gen Zia in 1981 or 82.....God bless him......towering personality and indeed a man of character.....his book FLIGHT OF THE FALCON is worth reading.....breaking myths and exposing falsehood of our manufactured military and political histories..........

You are very wrong, no one is more passionate then Pakistani fighters and 1965 war is pwrce t testimony of PAF air superiority against IAF, we lost 20 jets but we shot down 110 IAF jets.. So no one is more passionate and skilled then Pakistanis.. This is blessing of Allah... You Indians can never defeat us in any war.

Flt Lt. Yusuf fought 1 against 4, after his wingman's drop tank malfunctioned. Three IAF gnats ran away and the fourth surrendered. That aircraft is still in the PAF Museum in Karachi. My Indian friends are welcome to come and see it and have a cup of tea.

One of his pilots in this mission, a PIA Capt later ran into an Indian Capt in Africa - WHO HAD - witnessed the destruction at Pathankot. He admitted that the # of jets destroyed by PAF were greater than those reported.

I’m Indian , I have heard how Bravery of sarfraz rafiqi from IAF pilot who shot his Aircraft and he told that there after PAF attacks softened .video is available on UA-cam.
