VERY WELL DONE on the pro's and con's of the reel. The best example of testing a reel unbiased and with an open mind. Impressed me enough that I subscribed to learn more on different fishing equipment. Hopefully in the long run you will save me money and headaches in the future. LOL But the reason I did find your channel was I'm in the market for a few reels. Very new to baitcasters and have a lot to learn. Okuma and Tina I've been using spincasting for years with trouble free operation and dependability. So I figured I'd check U-Tube on certain models to gain some knowledge. I am sold on the Hakai for a couple different ratios. Thanks for the information and unbiased opinion on the reel. I'll go thru your library to see if you have anything on Musky fishing equipment since I'm going to start that style of fishing this summer. Keep up the good work and THAMK YOU!!!!!
The only big store I know of that sells a lot of Okuma is Dicks sporting goods. Ive seen them at small tackle shops also. I cant wait for this reel to be released.
Huhh, while I would have never normally considered this reel or even this brand, I’m seriously reconsidering that. I’m impressed, especially with the spool and overall reel weight. A drag clicker would almost guarantee I’d get one…but that’s not a deal breaker. Often, when I need a break, or wana sidescan scout, I’ll troll a crankbait and a drag clicker is epic for that. Well done my friend! You have done Okuma a valuable service.
God bless you brother, keep the bible quotes coming. If it wasn't for Joseph Robinett Biden I would have bought this reel already. Got to wait till I sell some others first.
My problem with magnetic reels is corrosion on the magnets creating a dust that gets between the spool and the body. So let’s see how that lasts on kayaks in the salt. I love the idea but I use a tranx in the salt.
@@Fishing_for_Fishies I cracked it to peace with a chisel and hammer out of my daiwa and now it’s so much better, never again do I have to worry about it . That why I have a thumb I don’t need a magnetic control.been fishing since I was knees height to a piss 🐜 ant never needed magnets 🧲
I like the reel but what about longevity?? My aldebaran and other shimano and diawa reels have stood the test of time with more ball bearings . I might have to get one and see . I like the look of this reel and the hand posturing .
idk about their baitcasts but i own their spinning reel which i use for saltwater surfcasting, Okuma Azul, it’s been with me for almost 20 years and still going strong without issue
Awesome vid again! Hoping this reel will come overseas (Europe, the Netherlands), im very impressed by it. Any idea if the baitfinesse model is a true alternative for the Shimanos/Daiwas BFS reels? Looking forward to your insights 😉
You'll get the best performance and distance possible with no spool tension (mechanical brake). Only the spool speed control ("brakes") up or down until backlashes stop.
Im looking for a new higher end baitcasting reel in the$ 200-300 range. I ussually fish 3/8 oz to 1/2 oz jigs, swimbaits and spinnerbaits with 30lb braid and or 16 lb fluorocarbon. Whats your favorite in that price range and for that style? Does this reel fall into one of your favorites?
How about my Lews BB1 Pro speed spool (2018) its already pretty sweet! Also I bought a SIXGILL HAMMAR S 8:3:1...can you check that out, it seems to have great potential! Thanks Gary
Awesome channel!!! Just realized I posted this question on a 3 yr old video.... Any way to upgrade my Curado DC or JDM SLX dc? Bigger spools, bearings? Any thoughts... Thanks! Gary
Ive done a cermamic hybrid bearing test on the scorpion dc and honestly It didnt help any, in fact it made the reel less smooth on the cast. Maybe the Curado DCs bearings arent as good as the JDM DC reels but Im leaning towards no improvement. As for spools, there are no other spools for DC reels
@@THEREELTEST Thanks for the helpful comment. Just recently got my Scorpion DC 21' and man this thing is a beast. I casted a weightless 5" fluke on a heavy rod with 15lb test crap mono and it was still zinging that thing out there

Anyone have a long-term impression? I live in Taiwan and I'm looking for a strong baitcaster for giant snakehead (up to 10kg fish). Also consider I will pay about $107 for the Okuma since I'm in Taiwan VS about $190 for a Curado DC.
You gave a good demonstration of a reel i was curious about. But in the future could you start listing the reel and pole set up better in the description with links so I can get pricing and some specifics on the product. Once again your demonstration was great.
Quite impressive casts with the 3 grams lure, taking the stiff rod and thick line into account. May be my next reel. I like smooth and quite casting reels also. I have the Metanium MGL 2020, also smooth and quite but sucks at 5 grams and below. Does this reel feels as solid as the Metanium?
My komoda is the smoothest reel it own and I own a few higher end Diawa and mid side shimanos. Only problem is it had no brakes. Have all 6 brakes on and its all I can do to not blow it up. Such cranking power for a 7.3 to 1 reel. Its not a bfs of course but a potentionally incredible casting reel if they'd stiffen the brakes.
@@andersriksson100 I agree, he'll probably do a more thorough cast distance test later anyway comparing similar reels. This kind of video is still helpful for the reasons you mentioned
@@andersriksson100 Because the wind pushes tends to push the bait towards the far bank right? Well I'd imagine that the dynamic brakes on black knight will handle headwinds better than non-dynamic braked reels 👍
This reel vs the new Shimano curado 150 MGL would be an awesome comparison video. A light lure cast battle would be cool 👍🏻
yes
Hope they come out sooner than expected. I need to replace a handful of reels before spring.

Very excited about the new Okuma Hakai. These things are legit.
Is it a better reel than the Metanium 20 ?
This vs scorpion mgl, what are you picking??

Better than the Piscifun?
Seems like a real nice do everything sort of real for $160 seems like a decent investment if will last a lifetime.

Yep ordering 3 of them
you are braver than me, ordering 3 reels of the same kind without even testing out 1 lol
why dont you use braid
because I can
I prefer the flatter style knobs but these reels really do like nice!
I do to, I may switch them out but the stock knob EVA is velvety soft
We just gunna ignore the fact that you hooked a bunch of string at the boat launch and just shook it off rather than pick it up an dispose of it?
Do you know coons tail weeds are and what they look like in the fall? I'm thinking if you did, you wouldn't be sticking your foot in your mouth!!!
Stop using swivels and snaps, overestimate lure weight and lure wind resistance, is better to use a straight knot.
Pretty negligable if you ask me, if anything the extra drag would probably cancel out the extra weight anyway
stop thinking what you want matters here
why should it also make the noise of a centrifugal brake ??? its a magnatic braking system dont get your sentence there 😅
거리 측정도 아닌 캐스팅은 의미가 없습니다.
