I first saw Frankie Beverly and Maze at Madison Square Garden in New York City back in 1977. They had just released their first album with the singles "lady Of Magic" and "While I'm Alone". Frankie and Maze opened up for Parliament, Funkadelic during their earth tour. Frankie and Maze represented that night!

I saw him from the first days with the Blue Notes at the Apollo theatre also , and when he split with Harold Melvin and had his own Blue Notes for a minute, then I saw all the legendary solo shows including his Carnegie Hall debut in 1977 (no opening act). Brother Hill stop and think of the glorious era of Black music that we lived through and were blessed to see! Damn I hate to sound like I'm a hundred years old...but we saw the last of the best. Nobody had auto tune, or pro tools or a million back up dancers and singers. All they had was raw, GOD given talent. NO sex tapes or beefs or scandals to hype their career...they had to BRING it nightly onstage. And they dressed like entertainers and looked like stars. Damn bruh...you saw Maze open for Teddy??!! Blessings to you!
