Starting April 2024, the Osaka Amazing Pass has been replaced by the Osaka e-Pass(www.e-pass.osaka-info.jp/en/), which: 1. Still offers free admission to many attractions, albeit fewer. 2. Does not allow you to ride ANY form of public transport(which is worth at least ¥1,100). 3. Priced at ¥2,400 for one day, which is not great. 4. Is now a QR code instead of a physical card you have to purchase in person and carry around, which is indeed more convenient. It is overall less desirable, but can still work for something like Umeda Sky Observatory(¥1,500) + Nakanoshima River Cruise(¥1,500). Go check out the list for free facilities and see if it'll be for you. If you still need unlimited public transport, buy the Osaka One-Day Pass (aka 'Enjoy Eco Card')
I was in Osaka just today! I did use the pass and recommend it 100%. Not only do you get free entrances to some places, you also get to skip long ticket lines since the pass acts as your ticket. Saved me like 30 minutes at the castle.
Oh yeah that's really something I forgot to mention. But the cheaper passes, e.g. the Osaka 1-Day Pass is the same, you just go straight to another gate and they'll let you in/buy your discounted ticket without waiting for a single second.
This pass is really worth it! I got the 2-day pass from my trip last month and avail attractions like Santa Maria Cruise, osaka castle, lego-land, osaka aqua liner, glion museum, tennoji zoo, tsutenkaku tower, tempozan giant ferris wheel. A tip is to plan accordingly. Check those attractions from map that are close together :) Btw thanks for your Kyoto video guide! A huge help and your funny video made me subscribe.
Hey Will, love all of your videos here. Super informative and incredibly helpful to come back and reference. I was thumbing through several of my open tabs, and came across the Osaka Amazing Pass website again, and found that it's no longer being sold as of April 1, 2024. Can you confirm that this is correct? Looks as though there will only be the Osaka e-Pass, which has bus & train fares separate from the free/discounted admissions to certain facilities. Keep up the awesome content! Thanks on behalf of everyone who has used your videos as guidance!
You definitely have to explain us fools how to get tickets to Universal Japan and how to choose the best moment to go there. I know you know all of that.
I will only buy daily pass because im not interested in looking down from tall buildings or ship cruises. Things id like to do arent covered in the pass (going to clubs, eating stuff, shopping etc. of course isnt included in passes) so just for transportation 1 day is good enough.
Thank you. I didn't even compare Amazing pass with usual osaka transport pass. I watched several videos on your channel, so I want to ask your about Tokyo Greater pass for 5 days. I will stay in Tokyo for 5 days and want to get to the Nikko for 1 day and that's the first pass I saw
I'm definitely considering this for a 4 night visit to Osaka in May 2024! Quick question though, when I go to the official website for the Pass, it says the dates for use are valid until April 30th, 2024. Do you know if I can purchase the pass to use beyond April 30th, 2024? 🤔
Heyo, I'm going to Japan this coming week. My current 1 week itinerary only has 1 day in Kyoto and Nara, while the rest is in Osaka as we booked an Airbnb there. I really want to take the Hankyu Garaku train (coz it's super aesthetic) on the weekends but the first train is at 9.32am. Do you think it is worth it? And which passes should I get for intracity travel in Kyoto? Hankyu Pass/Randen/Sightseeing/etc.?
hi will, Currently I already bought osaka pass for 1 day. i will arrive at Osaka on Wednesday evening. I decide to use my osaka tommorow on Thursday. Can i exhange the pass on Wednesday for Thursday use? or i must exchange it on Thursday? Thanks bro
As far as I know, the Osaka Amazing Pass is now an e-ticket that does not require an exchange. It's valid for three months from the date of purchase. Just tap the 'start using' button after 3AM on the day you intend to use it and it'll last till midnight.
Yes, it's been replaced by the Osaka e-pass, which is the OAP minus the public transport and a few attractions. So now if you really want to have something close to the original OAP, you need to buy the Osaka e-pass for the free admission plus the Osaka One-Day Pass(aka Enjoy Eco Card) for the public transport.
Think ICOCA as a cashless payment method, the other passes are like coupons to get discounts. The ICOCA is pretty much a must have, anything else is optional.
Ok correct me if I’m wrong…so I get IC card plus the Shinkansen train? Sorry if asked so many questions, it’s my first to organise a trip with family…I’m usually just a follower not a planner 😂

Thank you! This is very informative video.
the amazing pass seems to be back now though and the e-Pass is no more, thought you might want to update

Nankai Kansai Airport Station cannot be the starting point?

Does it cover Shinkansen?
Is this pass not available anymore? I cliked on the website in the description, and it said it was not available after april 2024

Now I’m confused 😕 if I purchase ICOCA card do I need another pass? 😢 can Japan has 1 pass for everything pls 😅
Think ICOCA as a cashless payment method, the other passes are like coupons to get discounts. The ICOCA is pretty much a must have, anything else is optional.
Does it mean that i can use it as well for the fast train? 😊
You can't use the IC cards to take the shinkansen, you'll have to buy a ticket beforehand. That's the only exception I'm aware of.@@Noidah
...and for some limited express trains you'll need to pay extra after you get onboard, but the IC cards will get you pass the gate no problem.
Ok correct me if I’m wrong…so I get IC card plus the Shinkansen train?
