We were in the audience for both nights and Darius was awesome. He is true fan of R.E.M. and you could feel his love and appreciation for a band that he says is responsible for his wanting to play music. I loved both his performances, great vocals, Darius. 👏🏽😁💜
Especially World Leader Pretend, where his rich, deep voice added heft to the song the original had too, but in lesser measure. Listen to 2:35-2:50 and see if you agree. A great cover.
I love seeing the videos of this 40th Anniversary celebration. I have seen REM live several times when young. They are one of may favorite bands. I have seen on line Michael states the band will not get back together because it would be a "money grab". As a fan, I disagree, I love REM and would love to see the band together again to play the songs we loved. I have paid to see other older bands because, as a fan, we love the music. I would think the band would still love playing. And of course the fans will love seeing them. While it is true they will make money, it is not about the "money grab".... the most important part is for their fans to have an opportunity to see them and enjoy along with the band. My .02 worth. Bring back the band.
give it a few more years....bands always come around a do a money grab tour the older they get...look at the Black Crowes!! They're on one right now!!!!
@@craigdavies1117 Don Henley famously said the only way he'd play / tour with the Eagles was when hell freezes over. Guess what they named the tour when the band got back together? "Hell Freezes Over" Tour. The fact is, touring & merchandise is how bands make their money. Record sales dollars aren't what they used to be and bands must tour to make money...
@@paolo-n2000 yes I know that a lot of band renege on their promise, but stipe Is one of the most integrity filled and honest musicians you will find. He isn’t a don Henley and he’s not going to be living the high life wasting all his money. If he ever came back it wouldn’t be for money it would be because he wants too, I also know him and the band wanted to preserve what they made and didn’t want to dilute it through bad albums. So I really think that’s the end for REM and personally I hope it is.
The guys in REM truly don’t need the money. Probably one of the best financially managed bands of all time. You can tell they really love playing those songs though!
I love how much Rucker appreciates that he's playing with legends. The part where he stood next to Mike Mills and they sort of sang to each other during "I Believe" especially made me smile
"Featuring: Chris Robinson & Rich Robinson, Darius Rucker, John Cameron Mitchell, Fred Armisen, Kevn Kinney, Lenny Kaye, Mitch Easter, Steve Wynn, David Ryan Harris, Elf Power, Pylon Reenactment Society," AND PETER BUCK!
World Leader Pretend is a great song, have not heard it much since I bought Green. I Believe is a great old nostalic song too. D Rucker does a nice job. Lot of tension and meaning in the song. Love to see and hear Mike Mills singing backup again for these great old songs.
Was at both this and the Athens show, both got me good. That said, my first concert was Hootie, so it meant a lot to see Darius again (Indigo Girls, too!) hahaha
Yep. Both songs *must* be sung by a baritone or a bass. A tenor voice just won't cut it here (OK, maybe a low contralto). "I Believe" has always been one of my favorites.
I see everyone asking "Where is Stipe?"....so does that mean Bill Berry WAS there for some parts of this? I'm only seeing random clips here and there of these shows, and have only seen Buck & Mills make appearances.
Would it kill Michael Stipe to sing at least one his songs 🎵 really the ego of Stipe ... I love Rem to death but come on Stipe just come out and just sing for us fans!! If it wasn't for us you wouldn't have made it 40 years later!
I believe is not appreciated enough, it is one of my favourite REM songs. Lifes rich Paegent is a sensational album
Mills harmonies are haunting in that track.
This song is from Green
@@ferdinand1x I'm talking about I believe, not world leader pretend
Life’s Rich Pageant is REM’s finest album. I appreciate anyone who covers REM, this is pretty mediocre

Which night was better? I only made it to ATL.
Especially World Leader Pretend, where his rich, deep voice added heft to the song the original had too, but in lesser measure. Listen to 2:35-2:50 and see if you agree. A great cover.
Never cared for Hootie but he is just killing this song in the most beautiful way....
REM………your favorite bands favorite band…………………favorite band.
Truly!❤
I am shocked how much I loved that. Hootie absolutely killing it on a couple of my favorite REM songs, I would not have guessed that.
I remember at one of the award shows long ago, Hootie said they wouldn't have been a band if it wasn't for REM. They gained my respect that day. lol!
Darius. Hootie & the Blowfish was the name of the band, not names of people in the band.
All of these guys would make a formidable band in their own right.

@@paolo-n2000 i definitely believe stipe when he says they won’t perform again.

Great shirt Darius!
How good was this show, man still blown away by how good R.E.M was/is. Incredible versions. I believe.
I cried.
Because of the dolphins?

Great job on vocals, Darius.
BEST REM SONG IN THE CATELOGUE OF GREAT SONGS.
Great singing
What a voice!
rem are one of those bands like velvet that never put a foot wrong and their shelf life endured 20 yrs longer too.

This is cool as hell. Thanks for sharing.
It gives me chills
Absolutely fucking Brilliant.... Excellent
What would a compliment be without an f bomb anyway?
I love his voice 👍
He did a great job on the vocals
04:50 I believe
Le son REM révisité, super :)
You made us proud!

WOW!😮 👍
Excellent!
This kicks so much a$$!!!!!
Well Done!!!!
Outstanding!!! If John Mayer is touring with the Dead, Darius should tour with R.E.M.❤️🙏
awesome.
This is excellent.
Nice!!
Replace the "U" in Rucker with an "O" and it's ROCKER!
Best vox from this dude out of the lot

Again, this is awesome! But where is Stipe?
In your house.
Where the heck is Stipe
Likely backstage or in the audience.
Why won't he sing?? Laryngitis maybe??
I watched the rest of the show and I thought it sucked. This was the best performance of the night. Where’s REM?
Well if this doesn’t atone for Fairweather Johnson 😯

Sore throat keeps him from embarrassing everybody
Great job but a little too much “blowfish” imho.
Or maybe too much Black Crowes.
Shaddup feckwad!!!
WLP is one of the worst REM songs of all time
