I agree , but then again roosters are known to have a bad start in every season especially when looking at the last 10 seasons roosters have only won 4 of their first games to start off the season but have bounced back and won 3 premierships so I wouldn’t write them off so easily. I have a feeling the top 8 is going to be very different to what's predicted. Probably like 4 teams not in the 8 last season will be in the eight, some of those predicted 8 are going to have off seasons, depth issues and whatever. This season is going to shake up now the juniors have settled from covid too

Its the fact that the players poached from Penrith are juniors from there own system which isn't the case for Melbourne

@@mattcollier7166 Cowboys yes, but storm will be battling injuries all year as well as developing new ones. We've still yet to see Paps or Coates return to form/avoid injury. Harry Grant's gonna have a massive year but.

Manly have the team to go all the way certainly but I think a lot depends on Seibold. Brisbane are a real dark horse in 2023, they are my surprise packet.
That and health. If Turbo can stay healthy them they are in with a shout
Not convinced with Manly. Their forwards got bullied a lot last year and as soon as the elite teams nullified Turbo, their attack faltered. They look great to start this year but they will have much tougher tests coming.
@@ryukan250 They were so reliant on Turbo tho, you can already tell they are depending on him a lot less now. Plus they have a crazy strong pack if they are all playing well, imo a backline of Olakuatu, Tualangi and Jake T isn’t missing the 8
@@ryukan250 The pack looks a lot better this year. They got depth there now, swapped it for depth in the spine. Also up until the pride jersey fiasco Manly even without Tom for most of the season was pushing the 8.

Stop whinging about Penrith being "punished", Joey. They've won TWO PREMIERSHIPS in a row and were in the Grand Final the year before that. They are not being punished. It's a matter of keeping the NRL fairly even so it doesn't get boring and become the Penrith/Roosters show (which it still is to a degree anyway, but less than it would be if Penrith didn't get "punished"). It's necessary, Joey, unless you want the NRL to die.
If the game starts to incentivise developing juniors then that will make the game grow. For example a discount on the cap if you have a certain amount of local juniors in your team. As it stands the game is only getting players from a few nurseries. If all of the teams start developing juniors then the game won't die. On its current trajectory it's on deaths door already. Participation in the junior leagues only diminishes per year. Obviously there are more than one reason why this has been happening, the major two are low local engagement by majority of the clubs and parents not wanting their kids ro have traumatic brain injuries.

So sick of hearing Johns crap on about the poor Panthers losing their players, well Johns they've won the last 2 comps, so they have got more than their money's worth. EVERY team loses talent, that's what the salary cap is for, to spread talent across all teams to try and make the competition exactly that a competition. My team (Eels) lost 4 good players at the end of last year but no one mentions that, but, but poor Panthers. Channel 9 needs better people on its football panel.

@@6t7ghost Don't get me wrong i'm a Redcliffe boy and played for the dolphins when i was a kid so I'd love to see em kill it, but I just think the 6, 7 and 9 positions will be a real problem if they cop any injuries there. I also suspect they might have just got up for the first game of the season and played out of their skins but will have a hard time backing that up. We will see though, i hope i'm wrong.

Really surprised how Melbourne Storm are flying under the radar. Once the Storm get all their injured players back, Papenhuyzen, Olam, Jennings etc they'll be the favourites. Their spine of Grant, Hughes, Munster and Papenhuyzen is the best in the comp.
