It's because in the batman 2021 version Bruce Wayne has just started becoming batman so his suit is kind of a prototype. But I agree the helmet is strange
I honestly think if you just take off the shoulder pauldron, then the minifigure look better. But If you switch the head out for the version 1 head and cowl, and put the pauldron back on, then it'd look perfect. That's just my opinion though.

There could definitely be some extension on either the cowl or shoulder armor, and they could change the paint to a more shiny black. And, with the bumps on the back, they should just sand those off before shipping them.
Can you do a community post with the V2 body and the V1 head with the V2 cowl on top of it I want to see how it looks but I don't have the figures and I think it would look the best if possible, please and thank you. Also thanks for the review.
I got mine last week and I swapped the head out with the version one head and it made the minifigure way better. But unfortunately for me my shoulder pads broke off of the neck part which isn’t a big deal for me because I actually prefer it without the shoulder pads personally. Other that the minifigure is amazing.

For people who aren't customizers you could cut off the knobs with a knife and use an official LEGO Batman head (for instance, the First Appearance Batman head from the DC CMF)

I think you should make the neck piece hole better so that the neck of the head gets covered by the shoulder pads/neck piece. It should also reduce the gap between the cowl and shoulder piece
I think it's pretty good, the v1 was looking more of a real custom mini figure while this one looks like a real official lego minifig designed for the batman movie.
