  • The Bedford Rascal was produced in Luton, UK for around ten years from 1986 under the Bedford and then Vauxhall brands. In 1996, production ceased in the UK but was continued under the Suzuki brand in Japan until 1999. Here we can see an original 1989 Rascal conversion, now changed to left hand drive and being used to promote refillable LPG containers for RVs!
    I live in a motorhome full time and travel around Europe in it. I spend most of my time in Poland, Germany and Italy. Vanlife is my life.
    In my UA-cam channel, I present reviews of recreational vehicles. Here you will find campervans and motorhomes from the cheapest camper vans to the most expensive luxury liners, from various companies including Hobby, Hymer, Carthago, Westfalia, Wingamm, La Strada, Frankia, Wavecamper, Maurer, Dreamer, Itineo, Rapido, Clever Vans, Pössl, Bürstner, Niesmann Bischoff, Action Mobil, Reisemobil Manufaktur, Robeta, Trigano, Challenger, EuraMobil, Karmann Mobil, Laika, Forster, Mobilvetta Design, Affinity, Globe Traveller, Benimar, Roller Team, Adria, Bocklet, Woelcke,Tourne, Megamobil, VW, Mercedes, CS, Renault, Ford, Fiat, Carado, Sunlight, Baileys, Chausson, Balcamp, Knaus, Weinsberg, Murvi, Bliss, Mitsubishi, Woelcke, Reisemobile Bürow, Holzmobil, Giotti Line, Florium, Fleurette, Ahorn, Westfalia, Space Camper, Orange Work, Concorde, Womondo, Protec, Auto Sleeper, Dethleffs, Ilusion, Gehocab, Malibu, Pilote, Wild Ax, Vantage, Bresler, Tom's Fahrzeugtechnik, Morelo, Swift and others.
    I do this by regularly attending trade events such as CMT Stuttgart, Abenteuer und Allrad, Caravan Salon Dusseldorf, Warsaw Caravan and Camping Show and sometimes others.
    I cover equipment, including 12v electrical equipment and talk a lot about lithium batteries.
    I also show some of the places I have visited in Europe in my own motorhome, as well as the places you can stay at! I try to give as much coverage as I can to official campsites and free places which I use for overnighting. Therefore you can find here the aire or stellplatz that you are possibly looking for.

    Today I saw an elderly couple in the cab of their Bedford Rascal motorhome. They were smiling and looking happy. They looked like they were driving someplace on an adventure. So nice.

    This will definitely fit inside the streets of Lucca Italy because that city has a similar street dimension to a Japanese city. If you're working for the British Broadcasting Corporation you have to bring one of these to Lucca in Italy because a standard Land Rover will get stuck in the streets

    Hi Alen, this takes me back to the late eighties, one of the group of people we went camping and caravanning with had one, her and her husband where on the small side and found it ideal, the wife and I camped in just a basic Rascal van with a double air bed and double sleeping bag, so we must have had the smallest basic camper van going.
    The Bambi was good for 60mph max whereas the basic Rascal van was good for 70mph, both the Rascal and Bambi was ideal for exploring the lake district and the yorkshire dales, where they small size made them ideal for small roads.
    We ended up with a small trailer that we pulled when camping that carried the awning, gas stove, table and chairs, etc which came in very handy, the rascal had no problems pulling the trailer and we even ended up pulling a friends bigger trailer tent once when a there van's tow hitch fell off (we put our small trailer in the back of there van).
    We had plenty of fun with the small Rascal van and it makes you wonder how much luxury do you actually need over your basic needs.

      Here here, it's gone ridiculous now with all the nonessential 'must haves'. Keep it simple. 👍

      @@ghunt9146 Just have a look at the American 5th wheel trailers, some are so big they used full sized commercial trucks to pull them, (think full sized truck and trailer that delivers to your supermarket). Often they are just used by couples. Now lets have a look on eBay for a rascal van, I have a plan.

    These lpg bottle ,are they composite? how many liters for the big one? they look solid

    • @VanlifewithAlan
      @VanlifewithAlan  4 роки тому

      It is a composite, very lightweight. I have an earlier version but this is better. I thoroughly recommend using this system (or similar). The big one holds 18 litres - the same as traditional holder!

    One small correction: UK production of the Rascal ended in July 1993.
