Please don’t just take everything at face value, a true walk with Christ is not a popularity parade…if you have truly died with Christ in spirit, anyone who isn’t saved is going to hate your guts, even more emphatically the pretty little religious people…the truth is this guy is just a normal religious person who doesn’t know Christ or have any experience of a true cross

A thought - when people sing songs about the faithfulness of God they aren't in ONLY singing about his faithfulness saying anything about him.
Imagine that God was an axe murderer - if he was faithful in this it would mean that he constantly murders people with an axe. So if a person sang ten songs ONLY about how God is faithful and gives us victory (some singers sing about little else) etc they wouldn't in doing so say anything about who God is - or about what authentic faith in Jesus really is.
This song doesn't say a single word about the character of God other than his faithfulness - for all we know Jesus could be the local plumber who is always there - who has never let us down. In the context of other songs which do reveal who God is that's perfectly fine - but people like this worship leader take the God lite approach all the time.
Another trick is to talk about God's character using words which have both a worldly and a Christian meaning. For example the word love. Worldly love is tolerance towards wrongdoing - which is indistinguishable from corruption. Christian love is holiness, justice, mercy and grace. So then if a worship leader sings song after song which speaks of the love of God without clarifying the nature of that love they could just as easily be singing (and they know it) that God is corrupt. To behave like this they must suppress the Holy Spirit - which constantly leads us to the cross - to God's holiness, justice, mercy and grace - in order to align with worldly culture.
Focusing on the second set of doctrines below instead of the first is the caper of the false teacher. (We don't need to say wrong things to be a false teacher - only to deliberately omit primary elements of the truth - fail to teach what Paul calls in Acts 20 the full counsel of God).
1. God's holiness, sin, justice, judgement, hell, repentance, mercy, grace, sacrificial love (living out God's holiness, justice, mercy and grace)
2. Faith, God's faithfulness, God's power, victory in Jesus
To those who run this channel I ask - many people can work out which worship leaders (and the preachers from their churches) are faithful in their message - why can you not do so? It is because this channel exists for a reason other than to find the best role model worship leaders around. And that must change.
So Im guessing you also take issue with the Psalms? Cuz there are plenty that do just speak of Gods goodness and faithfulness. It's okay, not everyone is out to trick others and candy coat the gospel.
A thought - Some people just live in awe of how good and loving God is and it wells up within a song of adoration and love. Not every song needs to cover the full doctrine of the Bible, but should never contradict it.

It’s great that you bring up the Psalms because they help to perfectly illustrate how I see things.
If we look at the Psalms as a whole we see a rich variety of expressions of connection with God - and praise of God. If someone was stuck on a desert island and only had the Psalms to read there isn’t much they couldn’t come to understand about God - and experience in relationship with God - that is not within them. If there’s anything at all not in them! They are after all the songbook of the Bible.
My hope is only that the BODY OF WORK produced by modern songwriters share that attribute of the Psalms. With some songwriters it plainly does not. They focus only on the the theological ideas which relate to power and victory as I explained in my first post - in order to make people feel powerful - autonomous - while not focusing on the theological ideas which if responded to lead people to die to self - to be appropriately broken.

Hey :) I read through what you said a good amount of times to make sure that I was understanding you correctly, and I hope that I did.
In the original comment you spoke on the fact that this song doesn’t clarify why God is faithful. And I actually disagree with that.
In fact, the first sentence of the lyrics says
“CHRIST is my firm foundation, the ROCK on which I stand” and the continued to say “…… Ive never been more glad, that I put my FAITH IN JESUS, because He’s never let me down” that is the gospel.
He continues to sing “He’s faithful through generations, so why will He fail now? He won’t” that speaks on the character of God as well as His history. That says God has never failed.
In the second stanza, the lyrics elaborate more on Gods character and how exactly He has shown us His faithfulness. The first sentence of the second stanza says “I’ve still got Joy is chaos” which elaborates that the Lord gives Joy in every circumstance.
Then he says “I’ve got peace that makes no sense” and that refers to Philippians 4:6-7 “do not be anxious about anything but with everything through prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving make your requests known to God and the PEACE THAT TRANSCENDS ALL UNDERSTANDING, will guard your hearts and mind in Christ Jesus”.
Then he continues with saying, “I won’t be going under, I’m not held by my own strength” which is a reference to the story of Peter walking on water with Jesus and wind came blowing through, and Peter got scared, while he started sinking, Jesus put His hand out and said “all ye of little faith” so once again to points to Gods faithfulness, because He gives us strength even when we a shaken by doubt.
The song in itself as a whole is also based off the parable of the wise man and the foolish man building their houses. The foolish man built his house on sad and the wise man built his on rock. When calamity came the house built on the rock stood while the other fell. which can be found in Matthew 7: 24-27
But coincidentally the reason why Jesus gave the parable of the builders was because before that he touched on other subjects. He touched on us asking him constantly to receive His presence. He also spoke on how we shouldn’t worry about how we will feed our families because God knows what we need. But what I actually want to point out is the beginning of the text where he speaks on Hypocrisy. He says that we talk about something being in one’s eye when we have a log in ours.
I do not know what your intention behind writing your comment was. But in the same way you believe that this song is just a feel good song that can be taken in incorrectly, so can your comment. You may have had an honest, loving, moment or you may have said it out of judgement. That’s not my place to say. Like Jesus said, take the log out of your eye first. In the same text He also says, not everyone who says Lord Lord will inherit the kingdom of God. And He is referring to the heart of mankind. So words can simply just be words. Personally what I believe would have led with was what was Cory and Chandlers heart behind writing this song before casting judgment about their song writing. Because as Jesus said words can just be words.
In addition, this is praise and worship! Saying God is faithful is enough, bc just that statement holds an abundance amount of weight. There is absolutely no explanation, or theories needs when the Holy Spirit speaks to us. I got an entire sermon from just the words He is faithful. In fact Revelations speaks on how the angels sang “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come!” All night. So if these men sang 10 songs all about Gods faith, it’s BIBLICAL.
We are blessed to be able to sing a song that ministers to us, while also praising God. But that’s all we should be doing. Our hearts should be lifting up Gods faithfulness, which has beautiful synonyms as well. Even if Gods ONLY quality was faithfulness, it would be enough to sing a song about.
I also saw a comment you made about worldly love? Before the world there was God. Meaning before worldly love, there was Godly love. Don’t get so stuck trying to find fault in children trying to follow Gods will for their lives. And although I get what you were trying to say, godly love also does mean tolerance for wrong doing. It’s a beautiful humbling thing we call grace. Jesus died on the cross for us. Which means we had a penance and a debt we needed to pay, (where the punishment was death) and God said be free, Jesus will do the time for you. Imagine Before my repentance God already forgave me. How is that not faithfulness? For a being as mighty as God to step down from his thrown, to set me free although I am guilty? How isn’t that tolerance for wrong doing? And knowing all He has done for me, why would I want to wrong him?
In conclusion, don’t be so caught up in theology, that you miss Jesus. Worship God 💙

Thank you for your comprehensive response. It’s clear that you disagree with me. I don’t feel that I have more to add and I am happy to let people reading this thread reach their own conclusions. With one exception - in case you find the following idea helpful.
There are only two ways to sin:
1. Pharisaism - welcoming Jesus’ word but not his presence
John 5:39 ESV
You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me, yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life.
2. Liberalism - welcoming Jesus' presence but not his word
John 14:15 ESV
If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
Because we all sin we are all to some extent a Pharisee or a liberal - or both. To be faithful we must seek to welcome both Jesus and his word.
God has no preference for one kind of sinner over the other but we may - we may be willing to excuse one kind of failure more than the other.
Songwriters must in their lyrics and their attitude welcome both Jesus' presence and his word.
Even if we may disagree about who is succeeding and failing in these things hopefully we can walk away from our interaction agreeing that this is the standard to which God calls not just songwriters - but all of us.
Let me also acknowledge that I agree with you when you said:

I do believe what you’re saying about sin, but my point is what exactly makes you believe this song or these writers don’t allow Gods word and presence into their atmosphere. I literally detailed how the song is scripture which was your original problem. This song is based off the parable Jesus preached as well as different verses from The Bible?
Your argument can be valid, for some worship music, just not with this song.
Another question is what makes you think the people singing this song back are not allowing the presence and word of God? God is faithful that is true to His Word. If I am singing the song in worship how am I not inviting the presence of the Lord.
It sounds like your issue has changed with the song too. Because what you were saying originally is that the song doesn’t elaborate enough on Gods character, and that makes it invalid. You also added that a lot of worship songs are doing this.
What youre asking for is a perfectly detailed sermon, that explains the depth of Gods character. That is impossible, and if you believe it is possible, ask God again who He is. A being that refers to himself as “THE I AM” because he is indescribable. You described God as holy and mentioned about 5 more adjectives. Not even including the fruits of the spirit which is also he’s character. God is not bound to those 5 adjectives. The essence would be he is the I AM. And I’m sure that also wouldn’t be enough for you. Jesus didn’t even preach mapping out all of Gods valor and character. He picked a topic for the crowd.
That’s why I even gave you the detailing of how worship and praise is done in Heaven, a place full of perfection. So if Heaven is perfect logic would say, how the angels worship is perfect. And the angels sing the same line over and over again. “Holy holy holy is the Lord God almighty who was and is and is to come. “
Are you going to say that is Gods only character and argue that the angels in Heaven are not elaborating more?
Your issue with worship and praise music is not biblical. That’s my point. The only thing I said I couldn’t refute was your intention behind the comments bc I can’t tell you that. Only God can.
But your argument is not biblical, and removes the power of the Holy Spirit and God who is able to reveal himself to mankind with no words just the environment.
