I havent heard of any other players who is willing to put up against the current infra of the current distributor. Like say one company will spend on additional infra but will sell at a lower rate. They have to gain the franchise from congress as well.
I am happy that Starlink will available in the Philippines soon, for so long now the internet speed is so slow, over priced, bad service. The Philippines should welcome more internet providers but when a company applies there is so much red tape to go through. Just because the Philippines is surrounded by water is no excuse for poor internet service, so is Australia. I cannot wait for Starlink to start and I hope the costs are reasonable
Internet speeds in the provinces need to be increased and the costs need to come down. Some ISPs are practically monopolies in some provinces, and are charging exhorbitant fees for the slowest speed.
It has to change the mentality of cost against low return particularly what he termed mission areas. It could be like a mentality of rural areas need not progress let us focus on metro areas. If we need to develop out country , then provide equal access to better infrastructure at what ever the cost
The problem is the equipment and monthly cost of Starlink Internet. The Starlink kit (the satellite dish, WiFi router, among others) is available for $499 (around Php26,400), plus taxes and shipping fee. The monthly service costs $99 (Php5,300). If the cost will lowered, may be its viable. Presently, its NOT a viable option in rural areas as the cost might be to high for the residents in that areas.
Many players may result in both pros and cons but we can prepare for them by ensuring to enhance the pros and cut the cons. We will progress with these highly brilliant and with highly specialized knowledgeable leaders rather the generalists who could not understand technology and much less know how to use them.
It's just a press release.
But what if the existing telcos will offer them billions of dollars not to allow STARLINK to put up their business here in the Philippines? Just like a telco in Australia Telstra. Let's say 3 billion dollars?

Many players means a risk for cyber security.

YUNG MAHINA KONG CONNECTION CAN GO AS LOW AS 8MBPS.....AND YUNG MALAKAS IS 400MBPS+ ...... KUNG PANG UA-cam LANG KAHIT YUNG 8MBPS PWEDE DIN NAMAN
Surfing sa SocMed and Streaming on Phone 8Mbps are ok pwede kahit 2 end user. As long 720p ang limit mo
launch a spotbeam GEO satellite in 5G frequency is the best solution
