    When you were sharing that academics don't start before 9am, and sometimes later, is when I "liked" and "subscribed". YES!! Thankyou!! We have littles and that means school looks different than many other homeschools, and that's ok!!!

    Home Dad here, thanks so much for this. I've only gotten to the strewing part, but that's lovely. We pulled our kids from PS a week and a half ago, for a plethora of reasons, and we're just trying to finish the semester with some joy and creative flow. I've been feeling out warm-up fun for the first "session" and this makes so much more sense than what I was kicking the day off with. I'll keep watching, but I wanted to say thanks!

    We run our homeschool very much the same. I love the idea of following a rhythm vs schedule. Just learning through life and spending time with your family!

    After homeschooling without a schedule for the last 3 years we got a little behind so this year we are doing things on a schedule, to keep on track

    You’re the first homeschool mom I’ve come across that “goes w/the flow.” We aren’t morning/schedule people and I feel guilty, like I’m failing at homeschooling. 😬 I love your honestly and transparency! Thank you! 🥰

    Here's an idea for a future video. I would be interested in a video that showed you strewing things for your little ones. Maybe several days worth of strewing all in one video just to give the rest of us ideas on how it works.

    This has been hands down my favorite homeschooling video. We are moving to Puerto Rico with our four boys (10, 8, 7 & 5) and my heart for years (as a public school teacher) has been to homeschool with them. We will be doing a mix of Charlotte Mason, some curriculum and “unschooling,” which is an unfortunate name. As you were talking, your method aligns incredibly with my vision for how to teach our kids at home. Thank you!

    My only question is i feel like with out a schedule i am setting my children up for not wanting to be responsible for schedules in the future, like working or being on time for appointments. Seems like when i am more relaxed with the day we are always behind and late.

      @@theluckychef I think do whatever works best for your family! We have other things in life we have to be on time for-church, youth group, gymnastics, dance, basketball, my oldest has a job…I enjoy our home to be more relaxed, BUT I also know that some people find schedules relaxing!

    Sounds very familiar to my day and this is working for my sanity and our home. To hear a vet mom doing things similarly gives me a peace that I am carving out a way that is good for us and alleviating doubt of being too frivolous.
    I have always been type A,list, planner, schedule to the t person but this 3rd year of homeschool has been so peaceful. I have not felt overwhelmed nor like a ping pong between 11, 9,6 years old kids and 3yr old twins.
    This was encouraging, thank you.

    I’d love to get everything done in a couple of hours when we start formal school, but I definitely think this will work better while I’ve got little kids and babies. I foresee lots of breaks in between and waking when we wake up, thanks for the video!

    Thank you so much for this video! I am looking to home school. My girls are 2 & 8 months… but I want to start with my toddler when she turns 3 in September! What is a good age to start? Of course she learns everyday and I teach her everyday, but I’d love to start something “legit” & more structured. What is a good age to start?

    • @RootedHomeLife
      @RootedHomeLife  Рік тому +1

      That’s so exciting! You really can start whenever they start to show interest but definitely don’t worry about starting any formal academics too young. Reading, learning through play, exploring outside-all of those are learning, all of those are homeschooling-you don’t have to do formal academics for it to be homeschooling. Little simple learning activities like letter puzzles, number puzzles, and things like that can be a fun way to introduce them to letters and numbers in a gentle way! You have plenty of time! Another great way to get in a homeschooling flow is joining a groups like Wild and Free or another nature-inspired group! There’s so much to be learned outdoors and it really helps their brains and senses develop in a way that can’t happen inside.

    This was so helpful. Love how you do it! Question: how often are you going out in a week? This year for me I feel like there’s so much more things going on with our homeschool groups and we rarely get a full day in of school where we get to take our time like you talked about here.

    • @RootedHomeLife

      It really depends on the week! Last two weeks have been very busy so I’m going to try to have a slow week this week! If I don’t get in two full days home I feel a bit disheveled.
