We used to have a window cleaner but I gave up on him as I didn’t like him using ladders so close to our parked vehicles. So I had to clean them myself but I don’t like to work at heights with ladders so I thought I would give the Gekkoh magnetic window cleaner kit a try.
At first I thought it was useless but quickly realised that it was my poor technique rather than the product at fault. I show how to use them, warn against allowing them to clamp together and explain how I will store them for future use.
I never recommend anything I am not happy to use myself and I bought these from Amazon with my own money.

Thank you for the honest review; really helped me make my mind up about getting one. I have a completely unnaccessible window (other than with scaffolding) on the second floor that is in desperate need of an outside clean! I can't wait to try it out! Best

I really like the idea. However, I think I will continue to pay the window cleaner £10 a month and that includes cleaning our canopy. Loved the review.

Got the idea for these from an ad video, and these seem to be the best rated in the UK. I'm very glad I saw this video before purchase! Do you think there's value is spraying the outside window with soapy water (where possible) to help it move more smoothly too?
Without a doubt that will help. We did ours again recently and they were so dirty as there had been a lot of dust in the air. 👍
I have a similar gadget, also bought from Amazon. It has a rotating knob on the handle which allows adjustment of the magnetic force between the two halves. It's also easy to get your finger nipped as they come together - ouch! 🤬
Spray vinegar followed by window vacuum with squeegy strip is also good for the insides.

There are several versions on Amazon and I just saw the adjustable ones you mention. When mine got stuck together I was blooming lucky I didn’t trap any fingers as I would have been stuffed. Dodgy things but I like using them now. Will also have to try them on my campervan but not as a pair 😁👍
There's a guy around here who does not do corners either they call him Sinbad. Maybe you need a proper window cleaner as lot of dirt on the frames that come down when it rains and people think rain water dirty tut tut. Thanks for sharing something that might be designed for a fish tank. Take care both of you's 🙂🙂

Agreed rather expensive. There are cheaper versions on Amazon but I was a bit worried of trying them. 😁

Hi you two. To be honest I didn’t expect much from them but I needed a solution so gave them a go. There are cheaper options that look just the same on Amazon and I bet they work the same. When they started falling off I really thought I had been taken for a ride but now I am used to them they are quite good. 👍
Good video. If honest i think my window cleaners job is safe for a bit longer yet.

i just bought one. done 3 windows with no issue and BAM they got together without the guard! How did you manage to get it apart?
It happened to me as well. The good news is you will only do it once. I seem to remember using a really big screwdriver.
Do you have a door wedge you could use. Whatever you do don’t get your finger trapped.
@@LifeistooshortCK Thanks for getting back to me. I ended up going in my partner's mancave (while he was at work) and dig out whatever tools. Found two long screwdriver and force it out. Used his workmate once I had some gap to hold it down. who need weights when we got this work out! lol.
Managed to do three more windows and they are looking better for the first time since lockdown.
Well done. I managed to get them stuck together before I even did my first window. The air was blue until I got them apart. 😁👍
I’ve over 30 windows to clean hmmmm….. I use Norwex but my windows all tilt inward for easy cleaning. Thanks for the review, it could work well for my mother. Mary

I had one of these about 50 years ago, not quite as sophisticated and with much a weaker magnet as double glazing was not as common.
Bit of a ‘faff’ but a good answer to many peoples’ problem.
I think that sums them up nicely.
Good honest demo. Bit worried that such strong magnets could mess up a mobile phone that would be in my pocket as I would forget to put it somewhere else! All our windows are going to be replaced - so not cleaning them! Also birds have flown into our windows as they reflect the trees (next to a forest) and the RSPB man said your windows must be clean then! Might try it when we have had the new windows!!
We had problems with birds flying into our patio doors. We got some black bird stickers and since we put them on it has stopped. Definitely don’t get these magnets anywhere near something important 👍
I think I need less plastic in my life and our window cleaner could do with the cash given the car he’s driving around in!
I agree but sadly my window cleaner was in danger of damaging my little red camper by the way he used his equipment. I had put up with it for quite some time but once the camper arrived I had to put a stop to it.

As a Window Cleaner myself...these are maybe OK as a GLASS cleaner, but they ain't gonna clean all of your frames and sills now are they? Maybe OK if you live somewhere like a high rise flat. Just hire a Window Cleaner :)
We used to hire a window cleaner but he was a bit of a nightmare with the ladders so I stopped using him. It was the way he used to stand on one leg and try and reach across right by our cars. Also he used to dump his bike and trailer behind our caravan and go and clean the whole street. Funnily enough though he never used to clean the sills or the frames so I am doing them myself now. If you get a good one its worth it. 😁👍
@@LifeistooshortCK Yep he sounds like what in the trade is referred to as a 'bucket Bob'. Someone doing it for beer money basically. There are plenty decent ones out there now using the pure water system so no need for ladders in this day and age :D

If I am honest I did think it would be rubbish but I was pleasantly surprised, especially by the time I had worked it out. There are good instructions on the base of the box which I had missed 🙄
