Great review as always. I bought a Corsair 780T last year because it was the only case that truly met my requirements. Now after watching your review I am seriously considering this case. I loved the photo of your sister being in the video. It's a fantastic way of remembering her and still having her in your videos.

Gotta love all the options Fractal gives you for your configs. I personally use the Define C but we have the Define R6 as a PC/home NAS with 10 hard drives

This is honestly everything I was wanting out of a review of this case and really any case that's come out of recent. So few other reviewers attempt to point out any craftsmanship or nuance in design the way you have, even the detail of the door hinge made me want this case. However, something that should be mentioned is so as long as you don't use the rear 120mm fan, you can fit two 360 radiators typically pretty easily in fractals R/S cases :)!

Cool review TTL, thank you very much. I will be getting a Define 7 XL to replace my Thermaltake case - I use it as my OMV, has 11 x 6TB HD + SSDs in it so need the room... ;-) Nice homage to TSL as well, sorry for your loss.

What a lovely case!! I always like Fractal cases but they really hit a home run with this one!!! Been looking to replace my old case and this is the one.A 360 in the front and some Phanteks Halos on those white fan and it will look beautiful!!
I've broken tabs off of every Fractal case I've purchased over the last decade. Nice to see an improvement.

First Welcome back! As for the case I would like to see that panel moved up so I can see it loaded with HHDs so we can see the differences in water cooling as it looks like the front fans would be in the way along with the tubing.

Another great review mate, I'm a bit late on this one, but glad to see you back into it. Looks like a neat tidy case, but I'm not sure about the front. I would much prefer a complete mesh front panel for better air flow like on the Meshify with the same easy removal as the top panel (and the Meshify front panel IO built into the actual case chassis rather than the front panel). Despite that, I really like the design and the back panel has a really nice cable management idea with raised panel at the bottom and those nice cable routing grooves and tie downs. Nice detailed review, love this stuff. Wishing you all the best. - EDIT: Just got to the end of the video and your explanation as to why it's NOT using a mesh front panel makes a lot sense, just a pity they probably won't go that route. It would be a great case, and the same design philosophy could be used across their case line up.

Still rocking factal design r3, nearly 8 years old and done two computer build in it, it was used as the AmigaOne case too so even more reason for me to love it.

No desire to build anything any time soon. Haven't watched an OC3D since I build my last PC some 3 years ago (Define S, came from an R5 before that). But saw the Define 7 drop and had to come here to watch TTL review it. So saddened for the other news I found out in coming back though.
I moved my system into this case 1 month ago. The manual surgest that I run all fans including the CPU via the case fan hub. If I do this the case and connect the case to CPU_fan. Then all the fans run at boot at 500-600 RPM. However I connect the case fan to sys_fan1 as suggested in the manual. Then all fans run including CPU run at 1400 rpm constantly.
Or do I ignore manual and just plug the the fan_hub in Sys_fan1 and the CPU fan in the MBs CPU_fan header?
Very detailed video,love it,keep it up! Most other UA-camrs read the specs off to you in 3 minutes and that's considered a video?

what do you think about this case if you dont go for an AIO ? I really like this case so far but im more into air^^
I got 2x 140 LL120 and 3x 120LL from Corsair....Should I get enough cooling for my sapphire rx 5700 and ryzen 3600 ? Everythings not OC
The main reason I didn't get the r6 was that I couldn't fit my 280 aio rad (kraken x62) in the top due to ram clearance, I have gskill trident z RGB @ 44mm motherboard height when fractal list the max as 36mm in their manuals. The 36mm is listed in the define 7 manuals but at 22:20 in this video it looks like the fans+rad sit above the ram and clearance shouldn't be an issue?
Would it be good to stand up a video card with extension in the XL version. I ordered one today...

Been looking at this case. I like to know how many HDD I can mount in the non server config? I'm doing a unraid build and like to see all components. Will use 2 x 2.5 ssd and 4 x 3.5 hdd. Would be nice with some RBG and see the drives.

Would you plug the radiator fans into the controller or into the splitter off of the pump?
I'd really like to see various radiators crammed into the 7 XL to see what fits. I currently have a 900D with two 60mm thick 480mm rads and I sure wouldn't mind an alternative case. Even if I had to run one 480mm rad and a 360mm rad to avoid them clashing in the top, front corner.

I have a question,does the MSI RTX 3070 GAMING X TRIO witch is a pretty long card fit in that Define 7 ????
favorite cases are the fractals, love the ability to hold a ton of hard drives, and be a gaming computer, and be silent
The hinge makes the Define series refresh a potentially great hybrid airflow/silence case, but I'm not loving the silver front panel, would have prefered all white, but they finally have an all white interior which is welcome. I'm hopeful for the Define C and Meshify C update.
I'm glad that I watched your review. The other 2 reviewers didnt mention anything about how many 3.5 hdd you could fit. Im only using 3.5 on my local pc and my current xl r2 have like 8 3.5 hdd without any extra 3.5 bracket. I honestly expected that all drive mounts + the extra cages would be more than 11. Kinda dissapointing.
How close together are the bottom feet? Are the XL and smaller version the same space apart?
Does the door come opening from the left to the right? Or is the default open from right to left?

The case designers have thought of everything with this. What does the grommet gap look like with an EATX motherboard? Can the 24 pin come through and flex into the pin with ease?

how do you clean front filter dust hooks up in the front louvers
if you have a vertical GPu does ANYONE know how tall a card can still fit in case (assuming the vertical GPU has no backplate)? At 33:45 it looks like with that big boy GPU in place you could still have a vertical GPU but I'd like to know measurements..... Tom?
I would have licked to see the case equipted with some optical drives for this show case.
Rocking the Define r5... and will not switch anytime soon...
