I came to the US and worked my butt off to get an education and create a a good life for my self and family. I never took any hand outs ever and paid for everything out my own pockets. Im a cpa today and my husband an RN- also an immigrant. My brother and sister also came to the country with me. He joined the military but my sister on the other hand has autism. She works in a simple job in a supermarket and has never taken handouts either- my family and I takes care of all her needs. Fact is she is unable to fully take care of herself if she needed to. But if I am to understand Ben correctly in this conversation, is he saying she should not have been here since she is not one of the risk taking entrepreneurial type people…Is there any space for those who really do need help?

When I was in the 5th grade in the 70s my Grandmother who had a 4th grade education was sweating over taking the citizenship test. I was amazed that she didn't know this stuff but for my grandmother if it wasn't needed to care for her family it was off her scope. She baked and cooked and cleaned and ironed and worked slinging hash at the school cafeteria. She passed her test and became an American Citizen officially. She had lived in the US for over 35 years and had 4 kids two of which had fought in major conflicts Korea and Vietnam. Meanwhile these people sneak across in the night and Biden has a hands off policy. Democrats and RINO republicans are willfully destroying this country. Send them to Ukraine and let them fight. If they serve they can become Ukrainian citizens.

I'm a black woman who works in tech. I wanted to provide a white collar perspective to Candice's comments on illegal immigrants taking Black American jobs. The story is much deeper than just our Southern border and blue collar / "low skilled" jobs. You also have immigrants who come here and take good paying, professional, high skill jobs. Most of these immigrants are legal and come on a work visa, which is fine. But there's something to be said that America would rather ship non-Americans in to take these highly lucrative jobs as opposed to training Americans to do them. It always bugs me because these are jobs with fantastic pay and there are millions of Americans who are underreducated or untapped (like the black community, or Appachians, or the poor South, or immigrants here who have already earned their citizenship). It doesn't make sense to me that we are not prioritizing Americans to compete in these tech jobs when clearly we have people who need them.
