  • In this five-minute clip, Howard Berger, Richard Taylor, and Andrew Adamson discuss how the different creatures for the film were created through a mix of costumes, puppets, and digital effects. The clip also has some great behind-the-scenes footage of Tumnus on set, the Witch's camp, and the Stone Table.

I loved this movie when I was younger! Sometimes, when Lucy went inside the wordrobe, I would rush up the stairs into my mom's room and I would open the giant wordrobe and rush inside to find Narnia, but it would end up in a painful head slam. When I would watch the movie again, I never learned my lesson and continued the same thing. I watched Prince Caspian when I was older and I was like, "Man, why did I think Narnia was real?" . I watched Voyage of the Dawn Treader last year and all these head slamming memories came back.

I love this movie, just watched it tonight. I always like seeing how they do the makeup and stuff. Very interesting. Also I think the girl who plays Lucy is absolutely hilarious.

love the audio in the lww, can't talk about the visuals, as can't see as am blind, but the voice acting was brilliant. i mean, who would mess with mr beaver? i bet that guy knows street fighting or something. Aslan too, love him from his ears to his paw pads. Liam Neasson did a great job of voicing the great lion, and Tilda Swinton was wonderful as Jadis. The whole cast were brilliant.

Another complaint with the movie can be the direction itself. I believe it could have been better realized. The intimate scenes are fine . The epic scenes including the final battle could have been much more stylized with mixture of slow motion shots and proper angles . The soldiers kind of looked a lot scrambled and were not stylized properly , a defect that was nicely rectified in the following chapter of Narnia

I totally agree. They did centaurs a grand justice their style, appearance, and culture. ^_^

    Centaurs A
I'm VERY happy at how they portrayed the centaurs! I like how it looks like a standard sized human body with a standard sized horse body, instead of an enlarged human body to accommodate the horse body or vice versa. I like how they are shown as a prolific race with females and even children. In fact the only problem I have with the centaurs in the design is their lack of eyebrows! LOL But that's a minor peeve. ^_^

    Minotaurs A-
I very much like the design of the minotaurs. In the book illustrations, their legs are more man-like, and I'm glad that in the films their legs are bovine. I like that they made the minotaur a hairy creature with a bull's head, hind legs, and tail instead of just a bull-headed man. :)

    Merpeople A+
I was really glad that the LWW film depicted merpeople like the book stated. Although the film mermaids weren't shown singing, I really like the design. I like how they made their tails look like actual fish tails, and I like how the blended the fish half with the human half. :)

    Fauns B+
I'm glad that they stayed mostly true to how Lewis described Narnia's fauns:Goat-legged, horned, pointy-earred, and curly haired. My only problem is that they simply have goat tails instead of long ones.

I was mostly upset that Peter rode the unicorn for practice and that Edmund rode a Talking Horse while they were hunting for the White Stag. Those are things a Narnian would NEVER do!

I've got to be honest with you all, though I love the narnian stories(LWW was what got me into fantasy and mythology), I do feel that there are certain creatures that weren't designed or portrayed properly. I'm gonna grade the portrayals and desings of the narnian creatures throughout the films thus far.

    Dwarfs A
I like how they made the dwarfs. For me, when I look at them, I see them, not as whimsical garden gnome-like people, but like relatives of the dwarves from Lord of the Rings. I also like that they depicted beardless dwarf women. i do wish that they had the dwarfs be pointy eared so as to help differentiate them from just normal humans with short stature, especially the women.

I bet in the future adaptation of the lion, the witch and the wardrode which would happen in the future
The creatures of Narnia were hand drawn, while in the battle sequence of the soldiers of both Aslan's army and the witch's army charging and fighting are CG animated, while some creatures are handdrawn
12 thousand troops vs 19 thousand of the scariest creatures you ever seen
for the good creatures on Aslan's side in the anime adaptation of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe are Centaurs, Fauns, Satyrs, lions & Lionesses, Cheetahs, Leopards, bears, horses, eagles, Dryads(tree sprirts), Red dwarves, Badgers, squirrels, foxes, gryphons, Giants(good ones), tigers, Kappas,
Nine-tailed foxes, gorillas, spirits of the wind, ostriches, Hippopotamuses, rhinoceroses, Giraffes, naaids(water nymphs) and a dragon
And for The evil creatures on Jadis's army in the anime adaptation of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe are wolves(the secret police), Black Dwarves, oni and ogres, Minotaurs, Giants(rogue ones), cyclopses, Ravens, Ghouls, boggles, akanames, Hags, werewolves, pigmen, minolizards/lizard people, namahages/boogey man, imps, people of the toadstools, onibabas, kamikiri, harpys, human faced dogs, and hyenas

Every thing is beautiful.. Bringing fantasy on screen is probably the highest form of art involving effort from all departments of movie making , probably making production the toughest. Also making movies itself is the grandest of art with the sheer amount of people involved. However when it comes to Narnia my only complaint is with C.S Lewis to put every creature possible in the pages.. There is too little focus on interesting creatures and there are lot of them just in the background. The movies i believe did a fair justice to the written work. I personally believe books and movies are absolutely different . Two forms of imagination . So writing a fantasy book is easier than making a fantasy adapted movie of a book with certain popularity

It would had seemed that Richard Taylor had started working on this film shortly after finishing up Lord Of The Rings. Weta Workshop helps makes a film based of a book by another English author, C.S.Lewis (Clive Staples Lewis), that had the help J.R.R.Tolkien (John Ronald Reuel Tolkien) create. As like the other way around, Lewis helped Tolkien create Lord Of The Rings.

    Unicorns F
The unicorn in the film is basically a white horse with a golden horn pasted on.
I honestly feel that they could have made an effort to make the unicorn more medieval looking by giving it a beard under it's muzzle and maybe use CGI to make the hooves cloven and the tail more lionesque. Oh, and also give it an indigo horn like the book stated......

    Satyrs B-
In the books, both satyrs are mentioned along side fauns. The only description given in the books is that their reddish brown or red as foxes. The illustrations by pauline Baynes made fauns and satyrs indistinguishable with the exception of Mr. Tumnus. I am glad that the films furthered the difference between satyrs and fauns, I am bothered that the satyrs look FAR more goat like than the fauns.......

I didn't make it up. It's a fact. If you don't believe me, look up C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien on wikipedia, or you can google them. There's even a video of them together from a movie. Look up "Lewis and Tolkien discuss Myth" on youtube.

    Hags C+
I like how they made hags withered and decrepit. My only problem with the hags in the films is that they are somewhat bird-like, especially with the beaked mouths.

    Dryads C-
I am rather displeased at the portrayal of dryads in the films. I feel that they could done what they did in PC's battle in the batlle in LWW. I also wish they used real actors mixed with CGI instead of just CGI flower petals forming the shape of a woman. The books state that humans have spawned shildren with them. The films dryads look to delicate and unstable to even hold an item, let a alone bear a child! They look more like floral ghosts!

    Naiads D
I am no happy at how the portrayed naiads! Like the dryads I wished they used real actors instead of just CGI, and they could have participated in the battle against the White Witch. I also don't like that they were omitted from the first films and show up in the third as replacements for the Sea People! Naiads live in rivers and streams NOT the ocean! It only made it worse when they are depicted as liquid mermaids! Plus they made The River God too huge.
