Best part is the supportive group of friends. We have all been there. As the day went on, I assume he started to get frustrated but with a helpful group it is much better. Nice job. Hope he stays with it.

So true, he finished the day in good form although tired and was back at it a few weeks later. He continues to improve. Being with a group of supportive friends makes all the difference for sure! Great point!

Bought my first dirt bike last July 23. Over here in central Oregon. Was a great decision and has been such a blessing. A man needs a hobby. Potentially helpful tip. It looks like your friend keeps getting bucked and bounced out of his line and off the bike because he isn’t weighing the pegs. Balance is in the pegs not the bum, especially on off camber and rough. An explanation of the riders triangle and staying in it for how the bike can move properly under you while retaining balance may also be helpful. But there is no way around the fact that falling down is a part of getting bettter, you have to pay your taxes to progress. Good luck out there hope your friend enjoys dirt riding. Really looking forward to spring!

Thanks for chiming in! Great feedback, so true, we all need a hobby and it feels good to have something to enjoy and tinker with when you just need to unwind. Yes, he needs to stand and put weight through the pegs and to find that sweet spot, I will pass that on to him for sure. Rider's triangle would be worth explaining to him, all excellent information! Thanks so much! Last I heard, he was practicing some trails and repeating them again and again to get the feel.

Good dirt and a nice place to take a newbie out for a ride.

Regarding Tubliss, I'm 203 lbs before gear and run my rear ibex at 6.5psi. If you like the traction your getting now just wait till you lower it👍.

Thank you so much for the tip! I will lower it next ride then for sure! I couldn't believe what a difference it made! No slippage in what was a difficult hill climb. Seemed like a plusher ride too!

Which part of the coastal range were you guys at? Looks really nice for December

It was amazing weather for December for sure! Usually we are snowed out up there or there is so much foliage down that we have to take a break from riding for 2-4 months, but so far we have been able to ride every month 1 or 2 times. We are at the OHV riding area called "Elk Flats" by Willamina, OR in the Pacific Coast range. Great riding, with some really nice trails and technical areas as well.
