very informative and very sad. I was just there for a month on vacation ( no Lebanese roots, just there to visit). I saw the darkness at night, non functioning traffic lights in some places, poverty with people going through trash and taking things they think they can sell, missing manhole covers in some places and many store closures inducing 95% of the souk stores closed and/or destroyed... but aside from that, it was as it was before, a safe and pleasant place to visit. I highly recommend visiting Lebanon.. its a very special place even despite these times..

I was in Lebanon back in 2018, about a year before the finincial crisis hit. I still to this day consider that trip and my stay there amongst some of my fondest memories. It breaks my heart seeing how bad things have gotten and what regular people have to go through. I hope things will improve for the people still living there. 🙏

I am glad you showed this video because, i am originally from Lebanon and i have been in the USA for 52 years. What you have mentioned in your video is absolutely the truth. In order for Lebanon to get back the way it was the government has to start caring about the country and the people not just themselves and specially their pockets. It is a shame that Lebanon reached the lowest level in living, economy and who knows what. Thank you for your video it really explain to the world what exactly happened to Lebanon.

This is , in a word, heartbreaking. The Lebanese are beautiful people with beautiful hearts. They are in desperate need of a strong, honest leadership. Their is an opportunity for the right government to come in and lead this unbelievable place in the world back to glory. I pray this comes to pass soon.

    crying real tears.
I miss our homeland so much, I used to live there in 2010-2012 and while I was young it was obvious that it wasn’t this horrid-sure it wasn’t the easiest place to get by in but it wasn’t on the downturn it’s been hurtling towards now.
I was there in summer 2018 and again in summer 2022, and the change in the span of that many years was horrific to see. The economy is hurtling downhill so so rapidly. We send money to my relatives back home, but everything is so expensive. People are getting desperate but the elites turn a blind eye bc they don’t have to worry about it. I don’t want to give up on lebanon. I want to return home, and it’s so depressing to see that many are losing hope for the balad.
I don’t wanna seem like I’m talking down or devaluing ppls suffering bc that’s the last thing I want to do, but I truly believe we will get thru this dark part of our history. We have to, our country is thousands of years old and has seen so much. Lebanon will persevere, even when it seems hopeless. May God protect the people of Lebanon and make it easy for them soon, insha’Allah.

Great presentation and explanation of Lebanon political issue caused missery to the country's modern economy in turn harmed the people of the country. How ever, although the people suffer for some years, there is no permanent thing and who knows the politicians might focus on improving their country's political, economic, educational, law and justice systems and social developments and leaving religious differences as an individual choice with the freedom to practices their beliefs in their own independent religious group which seperates politics and religion as two unrelated beliefs.

This is a nice summary as far as a summary goes. Imho Lebanon never made a real "comeback", I left the country during the so-called "prosperous times" due to lack of opportunities, pollution and the dire human rights conditions. The warning signs were already everywhere, many chose to ignore it because they assumed foreign currency would keep coming in forever. At the risk of sounding cliché, this is the people's fault as much as it is government's fault. I only have sympathy for my close friends and the young people of the new generation who had nothing to do with their parents' and grandparents' mistakes.
