To my understanding the reason they don't send you drives is one to match them they don't want you to have a mismatched sound and complain but the bigger issue is you need special machines to open and deal with the drivers. they have such strong magnetic forces happening inside that they legitimately explode is you open them up to replace the diaphragm. So they usually just swap new ones in. And people have tried replacing the diaphragm in other "weaker lcds and all that I know of have failed" They have the same magnetic flux as a MRI machine in such a tiny space
they cant just give you drivers other wise people would just build their own - and the drivers are definitely not same so now you have phasing and freq imbalance but hey they work- I would have given them $1200 to fix em if you want to preserve that legendary h-phone according to many - great video but I get where your coming from
What’s stopping me from reverse engineering them if I buy them new? It’s greed. There’s no other reason for this, I get matching drivers, but what if we choose to forgo that knowingly. But honestly I had a blast doing this and it's purely for entertainment, this is obviously not as good as a perfect one but FREE LCD4 you cannot argue with some imperfections LOL! It is still enjoyable believe it or not haha
