Narkanda is a town and a nagar panchayat in Kumarsain subdivision of Shimla district in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It is at an elevation of 2708 meters on the Hindustan-Tibet Road (NH 5) in Himachal Pradesh, India within a fir (abies pindrow) forest. It is about 60 km away from Shimla and surrounded by the Himalayan Range.
It has a skiing resort in winter. It connects Shimla with Kumarsain and Rampur and a detour also goes to Kotgarh-Thanedhar, the prime apple belt of Himachal Pradesh where Satyananda Stokes started the apple culture.
The Tethys Ski Resort Narkannda
Built in the old colonial style and nestled between thick forest cover and apple orchards, the resort offers beautiful views of snow covered mighty Himalayas. Situated in the Narkanda, it is about 65 km away from Shimla. Set on a hillside overlooking the Himalayas, this resort hotel, with a stately exterior, peaked roofs and stone accents, is 6 km from the ancient Jakhoo temple, and 8 km from Shimla's Mall Road pedestrian centre.

I had stayed at Tethys over a decade ago. Back then the property was much smaller, but the views are simply majestic. I am glad to see that the greenery nearby is almost the same now that Narkanda has become a lot more popular than how it was back then. This video refreshed my memories and hopefully, I will Narkanda and Tethys in the next winter.
