- A red river flowed through an Indonesian village, causing concern, but also a lot of buzz on social media. It happened in the village of Jengott, where roads were flooded with crimson-colored water. It didn’t seem to bother locals too much, many of whom just walked and drove right through it. Some were concerned it was a sign of the end of times, but government officials pleaded with people not to engage in spreading rumors. Yeah it’s the worst thing. One time I was at a beach when it was coming in and I saw tons of fish just suffocate and die. It was so sad to see all of those dead fish in the water
Firstly, red tide happens in sea water, not inland. The biggest issue is Leptospirosis which is a disease you can get from wading through flood waters.

Apparently this is not the first time that this has happened in Indonesia. The batik dye that they use regularly turns the water into different colors, so they’re pretty much used to it.
