60007 - the English Riviera Express, 44871 - West Somerset Steam Express & WSR steam 20/7/24

The Railway Touring Company’s ‘West Somerset Steam Express’ and Saphos Trains’ ‘English Riviera Express’ plus 6990 ‘Witherslack Hall’ on the West Somerset Railway.
A 5:00 start would allow me to get to Taunton with enough time to scout a location to film LNER A4 pacific 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley. I opted for a bridge near to the WSR mainline connection but I changed my mind to minimise noise from passers by. Following the passing of 60007, Ian Riley’s gleaming Black 5 44871 would pass on route to Minehead. At Combe Florey visiting GWR modified hall 6990 ‘Witherslack Hall’ could be heard leaving Bishops Lydeard for a good while before bursting into view. After the hall passed the heavens opened up so I retreated to the pub. I did plan on a shot of SVR based 7812 ‘Erlestoke Manor’ further down the line at a foot crossing but this would’ve been a tender first shot so I decided to grab some supplies and head out to a foot crossing in Taunton for 44871 on its return to Paddington. A quick dash to Tiverton Parkway would allow me my final shot of 60007 ‘Sir Nigel Gresley’ on the approach to Tiverton Parkway. I opted for the foot crossing before the station.
