We did something similar in 3rd or 4th grade, only it was Spongebob instead of Arthur. The whole thing devolved into a bunch of 9 year olds doing what they considered a "gang fight" to be. Good times.

They just _removed any sympathy_ the audience may have, or at least was supposed to feel, for Arthur. In a _competently_ made lost pet story, they'd show Arthur chewing out Pal _first and then_ have Arthur go on a frantic search for Pal and then sadly admit defeat. That order shows that Arthur truly regrets his treatment of Pal.
Okay, I'm rewatching this three years later now, and I'm just now noticing that, during the moment in which Peebs is talking about the continuity error with Muffy not turning her camera around, he looks one direction and the camera cuts to him looking the other direction. I am... wow, that meta joke flew over my head the first time I watched this, and all sequential viewings until now. XD I applaud you, PBG!

There are dumb beasts and talking beasts, like in Narnia. That's how Francine can have a pet cat while also go to school with two cats (Sue Ellen and Jenna), and Arthur can have a pet dog and go to school with two dogs (Binky and Fern).

Pluto and Pal are both non-anthropomorphic animals because they serve the purpose of being pets. There's definitely a better answer out there, but do you see what I mean? Well, actually Pluto is intelligent enough to be confused for being anthropomorphic and Pal's not... I dunno, this is a dilemma.
I have nothing against 3D animation. Heck, it can be absolutely beautiful when done well. But there are times when it shouldn't be used...and this is one of them. Some art styles look great in 2D, but when you transfer them to 3D, it looks horrifying. And again, THIS IS ONE OF THOSE TIMES.

Imagine an alternate take on this. Pal runs off and Arthur can't find him, while Buster learns of Arthur's treatment of Pal from witnesses at the water balloon fight. Buster tells Arthur that maybe it's better this way, and Arthur agrees, admitting that he didn't treat Pal the best. Pal eventually goes to someone else from the show, like maybe Francine.
or he gets eaten by a horrifying, fleshy creature lurking in the ice cream truck, as his skin would attach and pulsate onto the walls, and tendrils shoving, pumping a nasty liquid into his throat. just my alternative version of the story, it's a bit edgy but I think it works out.
12:04 "No collar"? Wtf, they clearly show he has a collar on his character model. What really gets me about this is that this was the first time they used CG so all the assets had to be built from the ground up. They put extra effort into fucking up.

The animation on Binky is the best out of all of them, for some reason. Not complaining, seeing how he's my favorite.
Imagine an alternate take on this.
Pal runs off and Arthur can't find him, while Buster learns of Arthur's treatment of Pal from witnesses at the water balloon fight. Buster tells Arthur that maybe it's better this way, and Arthur agrees, admitting that he didn't treat Pal the best. Pal eventually goes to someone else from the show, like maybe Francine.
or he gets eaten by a horrifying, fleshy creature lurking in the ice cream truck, as his skin would attach and pulsate onto the walls, and tendrils shoving, pumping a nasty liquid into his throat. just my alternative version of the story, it's a bit edgy but I think it works out.
