The London Rathayatra, also known as the London Rathayatra Festival or simply the London Ratha Yatra, is an annual event celebrated in the city of London, United Kingdom. Rathayatra is a popular Hindu festival that originated in the city of Puri, Odisha, India, where it is known as the "Ratha Yatra of Lord Jagannath."
The festival involves the grand procession of three elaborately decorated chariots, carrying the deities of Lord Jagannath (an incarnation of Lord Krishna), his sister Subhadra, and his elder brother Balabhadra. The chariots are pulled by devotees using ropes, and the procession moves through the streets, accompanied by singing, dancing, and chanting of devotional hymns.
In London, the Rathayatra is organized by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), also known as the Hare Krishna movement. The festival attracts people from all walks of life, including Hindus, spiritual seekers, tourists, and curious onlookers who wish to experience the vibrant and colorful celebration.
