Degrassi was like the only teen show that covered real and dark sh*t. I learned so much lol
Yes it really was the only show to do that lol especially at the time when it was on TV
They play it safe now. All the new episodes on Netflix are lame
RockingNeverland one girl had an abortion, one girl was hella suicidal , another has some sort of mental issue and they covered drugs and a school shooter in the Netflix one, how is it playing safe?
HopeFear I mean yes, the content they’re including technically goes there, but it’s so washed over and Disney-like that it just feels lame. It’s not the same daring degrassi we grew up with. It feels like it’s aimed for girls that shop at Justice

Your voice does change over the years but I do think they were more so putting on a voice for the show

Her being blonde wasn’t bad. It was the hairstyle she had that season until around the end of it.
This actually took me back to the time where my mom thought I was too young for degrassi bc she thought the topics were too serious for me so I would go behind her back and watch it 😂
Lilli Torres same. My parents literally put a code on the channel degrassi came on. I would watch them put the code in on old school directv watch it when they weren’t there and put it back on. 😂 but on the reals some of the topics were really serious. And probably too serious for my age at the time.

They included Darcy cutting her hair, but it didn't show the scissors cutting your leg. You should make this an entire series with different cast members! Love you guys & Degrassi ❤
She meant they didn't use the one take with the sharp scissors when she cut her leg, not that the whole scene was cut out. They probably used a take with a not sharp scissor.
maahmatchelle They did though, the scissors in that take had to have been sharp because she cut her hair with it lol.

It's so weird that you guys don't remember those scenes, but I do and I'm just the average fan LOL.
To be fair, a lot of the cast didn't watch the show and the last time they did those scenes would have been at that age so I believe it.
Because they film so much and so much is edited out as well

Small Story- I saw an episode of Degrassi on Nickelodeon when I was around 12. I loved it so much that I begged my parents to get more tv channels just so I could watch it on The-N. I went on The-N's website a lot when I was younger and there I made a best friend. She had begged her parents too for more channels for Degrassi. We've been best friends for about 12 years now. She lives pretty far, but I saw her this summer and it was wonderful.

I thought I saw it when recently watching too! Haha
I definitely remember seeing it as a kid.
I used to think degrassi was an overdramatized soap opera when I was little but after growing up and seeing much more of life, I realized how realistic the show actually is and totally not a soap opera. At least seasons 1-9 are. It gets very soapy starting at season 10.
The scene is still there with the scissors and Darcy cutting her hair , I’m actually re watching degrassi from beginning to end !
It still bothers me how Darcy left. I know it was a way for the actress to leave but in my head Darcy is just a terrible sister for not being there for Claire when she got assaulted, or had cancer, ot even during her pregnancy/miscarriage
This is gold. My childhood is complete. I used to stay up super late on school nights binging Degrassi on TeenNick. It’s a memory that reminds me so much of living at home with my mom, being young and carefree. I’ll always remember being crazy excited for the Halloween episode and rushing home to make sure I didn’t miss it. Oh, the nostalgia.

Plus , the coolest thing was in the first 8-9 season , none of them had “smartphones”, sure they had phones to send sexy pics but socia media wasn’t even a thing and I’m talking about the big ones like Facebook Instagram

Ah i was obsessed with Degrassi especially Darcy storylines it’s funny cuz after the show I continued following your separate projects like 90210 and LA Complex it’s nice to see you guys taking a trip to memory lane...and hearing the Canadian accent made me miss living in Ottawa 🇨🇦❤️

I was obsessed with Degrassi when I was younger. I've been recently binging it on Pluto, a free tv app. Theres a 24/7 Degrassi channel😁❤I'm 30 and this show is still soooo good to watch.

I was 12 when I saw the episode of Emma getting her period. My mom was like "omg!" Then basically grew up with it. It's cool how no matter when you started you had a cohort of students you identified with.
So you basically were the same age as them and pretty much grew up with them, that's great

I'm from Brazil, Degrassi never aired here but I got to know about it more than a decade ago.

This was a lot of fun and I´m glad to see that you´re still friends. I´m also glad Cassie realizes that blonde(ish) wasn´t her color. But then again who didn´t have an unfortunate hair dying experience in their youth. Once I let my girlfriend at the time dye mine. She said it was going to be black with a hint of purple and it came out as purple as anything can be. I don´t think I´ve ever seen my dad laugh as much as he did when he saw me afterwards.

They actually didn't delete your scissor scene. They didn't show the scissors hitting your leg but the cutting of hair and running away was shown. One of my favorites. Darcy was actually my all time favorite character. Love this!
