This is more then just a track, its an emotional journey that mr intalex took us all on, a rollercoaster of beauty like life itself. RIP Marcus, your music will course through the veins of time and live with us forever.
Since Marcus has gone there has been no person to replace the vibe this guy could emulate in his music. It's not technically mind blowing and that's why its so so good. he draws on emotions so well. I've had many a night Solution at Fabric, A bunch Of Cutts and Soul R nights. they were and still are the best nights I have been to and experienced Drum and Bass in its true form. I never knew him personally but he was always such a kind bloke and did have the occasional chat with him when I could grab him in the crowd or by the booth. I genuinely get sad from time to time that he has gone. Thank you, your music has meant a lot to me from my 20s to my 30s.
Story how I found this track: At random February Saturday evening I was listening to my daily playlist, and then once in the UA-cam Recommendations appeared this track, I already knew what Marcus Intalex was, despite 170 Roller is my favorite. I gave this track a try and was busy with something else. So I was listening it kinda in the background mode, but till the end it got my full attention. So I thought - wait, let's listen one more time. I've listened in one more time, in fact I listened it more than 10 times. At the same time my friend was inviting me to go to the mainstream club, have a drinks and meetup. While I was driving via taxi cab to the place and walking I had this on my headphones goin' on repeat. The more I listened the more I understood the track and the stronger emotional response I got. Club was meh, terrible music in the end, but was good old stuff. So after club, around in the morning, me having my drunk ass decided to go to the office nearby where I have been working. The first thing I knew I had to do, after I left a club, is to put this song, so again, me walking by sleeping city in the early Sunday morning, catching cold air, having this song on the repeat. I came to the office like in 5 or 6 in morning and I knew that I want to listen it on a better sound system. So my drunk ass tried to connect my phone to the Bluetooth speaker for 15 minutes, and praising speaker to work it out. I got it working and listened for the whole hour only this one track. Office got brighter as the sun started to rise, joyfull bliss. The pads and sirens and the breakdown in the middle of track that got me hooked up, and that I felt very relevant feelings that track gives at that moment of life. It sounded right thing that would go with the my state in that moment. I will always remember this track feelings as me goin' to the random club in the cold February evening and having it like soundtrack of the evening. The unknown but very pleasing.
I haven't heard much of his tunes before he passed, now discovering his music is something magical. Such a nostalgic tune, brings back some special memories.. R.I.P
I remember when this track came out. I was going through some very difficult personal life stuff at the time and I listened to this masterpiece on repeat to help me get through it. Rest in peace brother, and thank you.
he ran Eastern Bloc record shop in Leeds in the late 90's and had a residence with Glenn from Artificial Intelligence at a little basement club called Cafe Mex...I mashing it up so hard on that pokey dance floor every Friday night for a few years and when he was on the dex dropping a whooper my broking out would make the needles jump and he'd look at me over the top of his glasses and give me an aggressive fish face...we bumped into each other a lot in the Liquid glory years - specially when Glenn and Gambit released The Desperado...Marcus gave them the intro to Brian...one of Manchesters finest original Junglist Generals...big up Da INTALEX...funny fucker...RIP
Silence Groove - Fear Effect Schematic & Polaris - Conduit. It doesn't go nearly as hard but it's pretty atmospheric. Technimatic - Night Vision VIP Kyo & Break - Who Decides
I started going to Raves later in life and remember being at Shambhala the year he passed and so many artists remembered him on stage and I had never listened (knowingly) to one of his masterpieces. Even though I'm sad that I will never experience him (a)live I feel truly blessed to have discovered this diamond vault of drum and bass music. RIP Marcus. 5 years coming up.
