Can we just stop and admire the artwork in this?! The animator is AMAZING! Bringing the anime scene like it was reality! The comedy and the plot in this is wonderful and it has a GOD-LIKE OP! I read the manga and there's one scene that they didn't animate, hanako almost ended up disappearing because of teru he was determined to exorcist hanako, he was saying that hanako shouldn't stay on the near shore any longer and atone for his sin of murder, but hanako told him that the living all think a like, that disappearing was the best way to atone, but as if a murderer could ever atone for anything. He snapped at teru that destroying him would only release him, that's when kou realized that hanako chose to stay because it was his way of atoning for his murder by guiding and helping the students and the spirits
But then he used fake tears for sympathy from kou since he now knows that kou was looking for reasons not to kill him. It may not be the real reason he chose to stay in the near shore.

If he was actually trying to do that, why would he have laughed and told Kou afterward? Seems a little counter-productive. Wait, I got a theory. At 1:04 , there's a withered flower on the desk. In Japan when someone dies they place a flower on their desk for respect, but, if a flower is placed on a desk while the person is alive, it's a signal people want you to die. In ep 6 of tbhk when we look at Hanako's past, it's pretty obvious someone is hurting him. Some theories say he gets hurt at home by either his parents or brother, some theories say it's just bullies, and some say it's both. Let's say he gets bullied or either gets abused at home and bullied at school, maybe some bullies placed flowers on his desk when he was alive, indicating they wanted him to kill himself. And of course, when he killed Tsukasa he probably felt guilty and killed himself. Or we can say when he died maybe Tsuchigomori placed flowers on his desk, or maybe another student. Now I know looking at his backstory he probably had no friends or wasn't close to any student, but if we look at ep 1 or ep 2(I forgot which one, but the one where Yashiro decided to call him Hanako-kun instead of Hanako-san) Hanako says something along the lines ''I look forward to it. Doing something after school. Making small talk. It's kind of like having a friend. Its, I don't know..........Nostalgic.'' indicating he might of had a friend or a person he at least talked to sometimes at school, of course, this may be talking about maybe when he and his brother were young, or maybe he knew someone else when he turned into a ghost( I don't know, I kind of have a theory that he and the Minamoto grandma where I guess friends?I don't know, that doesn't make sense I guess). Of course, this is all based on the assumption that those flowers are even related to him, I might be reading to much into this, but as we know, Aidaro does love leaving clues( I actually forgot if the shot of the flower vase was even in the manga).

Yoshiro is probably the friend he is nostalgic of which explains why he likes her so much from the get go and is willing to eat the scale. We don't know why he killed his brother and got himself killed somehow yet, but maybe Yoshiro is the reason or part of it. After all, he wasn't supposed to die according to the future telling books. He was supposed to grow up to be a science teacher at the school.
If anyone actually realised the simplicity of Hanako sealing Kou’s staff, Kou’s grandmother didn’t need to do a huge boss fight first, just slap it on Hanako’s cheek to weaken him to this (but even less powerful because of his lack of experience)
