Bromance, romance, womance, whatever. No relationship will be as strong as Spawn's relationship with a church. Where most need a shoulder to cry on, Spawn needs a whole goddamn building. The building is appropriate, but for ironic reasons. The best reasons, really.
My favorite bromance is Peter Quill - Richard Rider. Dan Abnett was a genius when he took these two minor (almost laughable) characters and made them the saviors of the Universe.
I think the reason why I love the Superman/Batman bromance is becuase even though they are so different (abilities, ideologies, etc.), both men have the utmost respect and understanding for each other.
I love that JL episode. I will remember the 70's batman reference when he's like "What is it you always said Clark? A never ending battle?" at Supes grave.
Batman's moment on Justice League's "Hereafter" at Clark's grave was a beautiful scene and funny at the end where he hears an explosion and quotes Clark's "never-ending battle" line.
I was always really thrown by what feels to ME like a switch in the LIBERAL/STATUS QUO personalities of GA/GL in the Roy Harper heroin issues. Green Arrow was SO un-understanding of the problems people might have that led them to drugs and Hal almost immediately caught on to Roy's pain and how the absence of Ollie affected him. Hal, who I always saw as a flatter character seemed to ooze with compassion in those issues. I really liked the two as a pair, but man did I hate Ollie in those issues (but I'm biased towards Roy, so that might have something to do with it, and Ollie was really damn quick to assert to himself that he had absolutely no responsibility in what happened to his friend's behavior)... and was pretty rude to everyone about it, even Hal couldn't get through to him, really. I suppose this is could be a modern view on liberalism, but it doesn't really feel like it, to hear Stan talk about his feelings behind writing the Spider-Man drug awareness comic, "how do you get through to the kids, how do you help them" thing. Ugh, I have family with drug issues, so ... I rant. Anyhow! Luke and Danny. Love 'em. Also Wolverine and all his girls, but I guess that's probably more mentor/big brother relationships. Also it sounds creepy. But I always liked him for that reason as a girl. Not so much that he killed folks, but because he had this great relationship with Jubilee. My first comic was of the two of them when he was deep into his feral stage. CUTE CAT! Hope the sick one is doing better.
Yeah, Max Landis loves the Landisverse look at his kinda funny appearance also on that note it is impressive how many ideas that guy has and how involved he is with so many projects.
started reading comics by inheriting my dad's comic stash, so all the versions i know and love (MY versions) are from that 60s era. Arrow and Lantern was my absolute favourite in his stash, and love those books. great that you put out a mention. And if they are doing a reprint I'm so there! what's the book called?
There are always the obvious ones like Superman/Batman, Batgirl/Supergirl, and Daredevil/Spider-Man, but I like shining a bit of a light on something lesser known like X-O Manowar and Ninjak from Valiant. They have shades of Batman & Superman, but X-O is a little gruffer and Ninjak is a little douchier. It works for me.
Admittedly.....they are not top tier, but Hawkman and the Atom were always good chums.......DCs Legends turning that into romance territorry is a little weird but its one of those key comic friendships I like seeing, seeing Atom perched on HAwkmans shoulder is just a nice image
That JLU episode you guys refer to featured those characters by design. It was a tribute to the original 7 Soldiers of Victory, hence the inclusion of Crimson Avenger
The only animated movie after Flashpoint Paradox that is really good is God and Monsters(which ironically isn't tied with the new DCA continuity), the other ones are meh at best.
+Nick Grimes Gaggle Mates? Monthly Sisters of the Moon and Tide? Lmao now its sounding like a bunch of titles for the next piece of crap Lions Gate YA novel adaptation. Sisters of Blood & Cramping: Toxic Shock part 1! Lol terrible i know...
I am a huge Blue Beetle and Booster Gold fan from even before their JLI heyday. I think that PERHAPS part of Sal's problem with Booster Gold is that Booster was at the time of his creation a kinda radical concept. He's technically the first POST CRISIS hero. A Super Hero...who was in it for all the wrong reasons, fame, money and glory from a guy who was kicked out of pro football for gambling. He's a fraud...who over time fakes it till he makes it. He's the Thunderbolts of his day. The problem is..that concept quickly got absorbed into the "dark anti heroes" trend...and after his series ended...he lost that arc but did not gain another. So, what made Booster unique...became all too common and he just came across as a tool. I think you might want to check out his OG series by Dan Jurgens. It's pretty trend setting...but he quickly gets surpassed by others. He's Laserdisc.
@ComicPop +ComicPOP Do tags not work in youtube comments anymore? Anyway, Sal, in the section of this video around 49:00 where you and Joel are talking about Darkseid and Mongol's voice portrayals, it reminded me of another reason for you to watch season 2 of Young Justice; Mongol plays a cool part in bringing War World to Earth, and the YJ team all have to work together to beat him. Its a cool scene.
My favorite bromance is the one between Captain America and Hawkeye. What makes it a great bromance for me is because it started out as a rivalry in the Avengers and developed into a mutual respect for one another. Besides Steve and Clint he meaning Steve had quite a few bromances as well with the likes of Bucky, Falcon and others. I also want to add Cyborg in his current form having quite the bromance with Shazam! Also back in the day when Cyborg was running with the Teen Titans he had a really good bromance with Changeling aka Beast Boy. Those for me are some of my favorite bromances. Also Batman doesn't do bromances.
commenting before I've watched I'm gonna go with rocket raccoon and Groot or is that a treemance? love elseworlds exchange I started watching aris on variant then rob on comics explained. sal Ben and Ethan and Joel are all I watch now (sorry other dude's) peace!
#ElseworldsExchange I have a topic for another video. Would you talk about cartoons specifically for adults, like Rick and Morty. Growing up watching cartoons most people grew out of them. But, now there making cartoons just for adults who still love them. Also can you talk about adult themes hidden in regular children shows.
Even though I myself am not a liberal. I do appreciate having a liberal character to balance out the team. Ya can't just have a superpowered conservative echo chamber with a douchey semi anarchist(batman) and whatever the hell elastic man was. Also no love for Wally and Kyle?

+Just Some Guy with a Mustache Its true every image of spawn that comes to my mind has him on that church.
My favorite bromance is Peter Quill - Richard Rider. Dan Abnett was a genius when he took these two minor (almost laughable) characters and made them the saviors of the Universe.

I love that JL episode. I will remember the 70's batman reference when he's like "What is it you always said Clark? A never ending battle?" at Supes grave.
My favorite's Superman and Batman, probably because I grew up with it on JL and JLU.
yeah, love their comics by jeph Loeb also the new 52 ones
Wolverine and Nightcrawler work because Nightcrawler is a truly good man and Wolverine knows it.
How about Static and Gear? I always liked that from the show
Batman's moment on Justice League's "Hereafter" at Clark's grave was a beautiful scene and funny at the end where he hears an explosion and quotes Clark's "never-ending battle" line.
Of course there's the fact that Green Lantern is a cop, and Green Arrow is a vigilante...
JTZ he is not an earth cop.
He is we have our own government and set of laws.
He is a vigilante if he fights crime on earth
My favorite Bromances mostly consist of:
Static & Gear
Flash (Wally West) & Green Lantern (John Stewart)
Superman & Batman
Flash (Wally West) & Green Lantern (Kyle Rayner)
Spider-man & Human Torch (Johnny Storm)
I agree with the Epilogue discussion. I felt like that was the perfect ending for Batman.
Daredevil and Spider-Man for me
Hell yeah
I love watching these elseworlds from the eyes of the future. You guys continue to inform even in the past.

+dmeadville Thanks dude. He's pretty much 100% again, much appreciated!
I'm glad to hear that! :)
My favovorite´s Beast Boy and Cyborg, because i grew up with them in the teen titan go series
So glad that Tim&Kon and Dick&Roy were mentioned! And back to back, too! Definitely my favorite bromances!
not superheros but a great bromance outside the big two is hellboy and abe sapien
Yeah, Max Landis loves the Landisverse look at his kinda funny appearance also on that note it is impressive how many ideas that guy has and how involved he is with so many projects.

love the elseworlds exchange
Man I love how much the channel has grown, content wise and subscriber wise keep up the good job!
Hey Sal & Joel from 5 years ago, I’m from the future & Anthony Mackie did indeed become Captain America and it is a glorious era.
So right about "Ninja Scroll". You really had to be there. Same for "Fist of The NorthStar".
Afemship would probably be afemsive to some people.
Probably my favorite Captain America bromance is Bucky Barnes. Especially after seeing them in the Captain America trilogy of movies in the MCU.
There are always the obvious ones like Superman/Batman, Batgirl/Supergirl, and Daredevil/Spider-Man, but I like shining a bit of a light on something lesser known like X-O Manowar and Ninjak from Valiant. I always liked Raphael and Casey Jones
Yeah
commenting before watching, which do you prefer: Blue Beetle and Booster Gold or Power Man and Iron Fist?
+Roberto Sauma I had more exposure to Luke and Danny.
ComicPOP thx for replying, love the channel.
I love Power Man & Iron Fist, but Ted is my favorite character out of the four.
The Cap book Sal is talking about is Captain America: Man out of Time.
If only they had called it "Cap To The Future"
Admittedly.....they are not top tier, but Hawkman and the Atom were always good chums.......DCs Legends turning that into romance territorry is a little weird but its one of those key comic friendships I like seeing, seeing Atom perched on HAwkmans shoulder is just a nice image
That JLU episode you guys refer to featured those characters by design. It was a tribute to the original 7 Soldiers of Victory, hence the inclusion of Crimson Avenger
i would say storm and colossus is my favorite marvel co-ed bromance
Joel and Matt
The only animated movie after Flashpoint Paradox that is really good is God and Monsters(which ironically isn't tied with the new DCA continuity), the other ones are meh at best.
Bromance - Womance? Sisterhood? Maybe? Lol
How can you not talk about the flash and Green Lantern?
Did Joel get possessed by grandpa Rick there at the end? Lol
Hal Jordan and oliver Queen.
what about Green Lantern&Flash and Archie&Armstrong
Man, i love the thumbnail of this episode...
SPOOOOOOOOONNN!

Deadpool and Spiderman. otp
And Sauron deliberately named himself after Sauron in LOTR.
beast boy and cyborg
What's funny is that for most of justice league international, booster was actually a little more mature than ted kord, but still goofy
