- Black Mold or Mildew around your Windows? In this video I will show you how I clean this up naturally. This is caused from indoor/outdoor air temperature, humidity creating moisture on the window surface (sweating) which then gathers at the bottom creating the problems you'll see in the video.

I live in Germany and here they use vinegar for a LOT of things to clean around, gets rid off bad odors too. Back when I lived in the USA bleach was the way to go but I feel its supper strong and unhealthy especially around kids and pets. I am gonna use my husband's toothbrush, old toothbrush of course...:D Thanks for the tip!
@@wanderlustmaggie l agree, vinegar is much safer than bleach & it smells a lot better too! thanks for watching.
GooD advises. I knew about it but it's good to remind and I should check my windows ! Thanks Jensen
I was a bit skeptical when l first tried it but it really works great!
I didn’t realize once it gets wet it prevents it from being airborne! I was worried because I didn’t have a mask. Going to try this out. Thanks
It really does work well! It’s been about 3 months since l cleaned mine and no mold has come back yet.
Idk why but your demeanor oddly reminds me of Ryan Reynolds for some reason. In a good way by the way, very calm and soothing.
Wow thanks! First time i’ve been told that. Ryan’s a great actor👍
Thank you. Does it completely remove the black mold colour in the silicone/caulking around the window and wood trim perimeter? I see that you have some discoloration from black mold in the caulking below the window area where you are working, but you didn't treat that area. Does it not remove that black mold colour from the window caulking? I'm assuming not since you didn't show it. Thanks, again.
The mold was a bit more difficult to remove from the caulking & there was still a slight discolouration in some areas of the caulking but the mold has not grown back since l made the video months ago & if the caulking is being stubborn you could always scape it out & apply new caulking. Thanks for watching!
@@JENSENDIY Thank you! 🙂
What is the name of that part of the window you were cleaning? Window sill? Or, window track? Thanks!
I was cleaning a few parts including the sash & sill and yes the part the window slides along as well which l’m pretty sure would be called the track.
What’s better to use to do this - vinegar or bleach??? I saw videos of others using bleach.
I’ve never used bleach for mold but the vinegar works great! it’s also a safe non toxic product.
Any tips on how to stop window condensation?
Condensation is hard to prevent, you could try a de-humidifier or if that is not an option make sure the room is properly heated as heat absorbs moisture. A heater below the window may help. Good luck!
Fun facts, if you feel like the 5% vinegar STILL isn't cutting it, there's also cleaning vinegar which is 10%. . . . for some extra oomph I soak orange and other citrus peels in the vinegar, makes it smell a bit nicer and the essential oils from the zest gets into the vinegar and has some antibacterial and antifungal properties which helps!
Great tips! thanks for sharing
@@JENSENDIY :)
I've done this and it hasn't removed it ?
You may want to try a stronger vinegar with 10% acetic acid & let it sit on the mold a bit longer before scrubbing. Hope it helps!
But you're adding water, which is why the mold grew in the first place?
I’m just trying to keep the problem under control here. Yes l’m adding water in the form of vinegar which has acetic acid. I don’t really want to run a dehumidifier or use chemicals so this 15 min yearly chore is how l do it. The moisture starts to go away once the heat gets turned on.
Why not bleach (sorry if that's dumb)@@JENSENDIY
@@januarysidra6166 Bleach would work but it’s toxic, which is why l prefer to use the vinegar.
You can buy extra strength vinegar 10% instead of 5% made cleaning. I use it to clean my windows!
