Hello! Thank you for all of your videos, they're great!! I had a question, though: did you specify your major when you applied, or just the department? I'm also applying to Media & Comm at KU and two other schools :)
Thank you!! I just wrote the department and it was fine~~
Hi Virginia! Thank you for all of your videos, it really helped me a lot! I want to ask, I'm very interested in SMC KU but is it possible to apply for SMC KU Master's even though I'm from a different undergraduate major? My undergraduate major is language and literature. ☺ Thank you very much in advance, I hope you have good days!
Hi! Yes, actually around half of us had different undergraduate majors! Mine was east Asian studies haha just make sure to explain why you want to change majors~~
Pls make a video on interview question ❤
Okay! I made one on the embassy interview questions if you haven't seen it yet~
Hey!! Thank you so much for making this video, it has been a great help! However, I would like to ask a couple questions if that’s ok.
Firstly, if I’m planning to apply to a SKY university (particularly Yonsei), should I apply through university track? It’s the only uni that offers the major that i want and also really like. I’ve heard that university track is more competitive and even more so since it’s a SKY and I’m from the US.
Secondly, does GKS help in the process of getting a Korean phone service provider and in creating a bank account?
Thanks in advance!
Hi! As far as I know, GKS doesn't help with getting a phone or bank account set up. I think Yonsei is very competitive no matter whether you do university or embassy track 😅 so I think it would depend on who you would like to interview with (embassy track would be the Korean consulate in the US and university track would be Yonsei). From what I've heard, if your profile is more focused on your specific field, university track could be better, but if it's more focused on experience with Korea(n), embassy track could be better
@@virginiasvoyage Thank you so much for your response and have a nice day!! 🫶
Thank you for your video so much ! Could you please tell if the Law courses in Korea University are taught in English or Korean ? Like if they have prevailing number of courses in english
Hi! There is a document on the gks website (studyinkorea) with a list of all the schools and departments, and it includes whether the classes are taught in korean or English or both~
Hi!, Thank you for this video because it was really useful to me! I would like to enroll in a master's degree in South Korea as soon as I finish my bachelor's degree in my country, but I was wondering, Is there a specific minimum GPA to be admitted?😅
Hi! The minimum GPA depends on the school, but I think it's usually the equivalent of 80/100~
Hi!! 😊Could you please help me with the Letter of Recommendation? I just need to know if its necessary to recognize signature and take this to the notary's office.
Hi! You just need your professor to sign it~ no need to go to a notary 😊
Thank you so much! God bless you 🥰
Do we need toefl if we want to spply for eng literature (major)?
Only if your university requests it I think~ you can check their qualifications on their website!
Hello Virginia, Im Eyas from Indonesia and interested in studying at SMC KU especially in Media and Individual. Thank you for the video you shared, it really helped me. I have a few questions, can you help me answer them?
1. Where can I find the order in which courses are taken each semester? I mean, for example, semester 1 takes general courses. Or can you explain the system of taking each subject per semester?
2. What courses can be accessed in English?
4. Does SCM KU also focus on teaching media and communication in supporting good governance or Public Information Disclosure or communication/media as an empowerment tool?
Thankyou
Hi Eyas! I'll try me best to answer your questions~
1. There's not a specific order but there are 2 required courses that are only offered once a year so you'll just need to make sure to take those when they're offered. Other than that, you just choose what sounds interesting!
2. This depends on the professor because sometimes they teach the same class in korean one semester but then English the next... so you can just check the English courses during registration every semester ^^
3. I wasn't quite sure about this question, but the program offers the standard communication and media subjects like PR, advertising, entertainment, etc.
Thanks for ur response@@virginiasvoyage . So I'm going to make sure about the answer number one. What are the two required courses and is this one involved at Major Common SMU? Do you know how many credits students should take?☺
@eyasasga so the two courses are research methods in communication and communication theories! And students need to take 24 credits total to graduate~ each course is usually 3 credits ^^
Im btech graduate i want to go korea for mtech so what should i do first ? IELTS exam or topik exam which??
Maybe take ielts first since it's a requirement for gks and then topik since it's optional~ good luck!
Help my documents got in South Korea and it's 1 day late given the Deadline
Will they accept my documents
If the documents are late it's hard to say... it will depend on how kind they are feeling 🥺
What is the language medium of exam if the degree is offered in both eng and Korean language?
If it's offered in both English and Korean, then it will usually depend on what the professor decides 🥲

Hi Virginia, I was wondering if I can apply for GKS graduate as I am currently in my final year of bachelor and be graduating soon. Thanks in advance.
Hi! Yes, you should be able to apply for GKS graduate as long as you will have your diploma in time to start classes in the fall (for visa purposes)
@@virginiasvoyage thanks for ur response dear, but I don't think I can get my diploma before sept TT
Hello! Is it possible to write master’s dissertation in English in Korea uni?
Yes! It might depend on your department though ☺️
@@virginiasvoyage what about your department? Is it allowed in media?
@user-cj3gk2gi8r yes it's allowed!
Hi Virginia, I want to study undergraduate media and communications in Korea. In which sectors are there job opportunities after graduation? How is it possible to work in Korea after graduating from this department?
Hi! It really depends on which area of media you want to focus on~ so there are lots of marketing/advertising opportunities, or if you're into entertainment, there are jobs in entertainment companies too~
@@virginiasvoyage So, are there work opportunities in Korea for foreigners graduating from this department? What are the attitudes towards foreigners?
@fftk1605 yes~ I haven't personally applied yet so I can't share my personal experience, but many of my seniors have found jobs quite easily as foreigners after graduation 😊
@@virginiasvoyage Thank you very much for taking care of me and answering. Good luck with your life🌟
Hi, it's me again. I've commented on one of your videos before. I am currently preparing for my GKS-G application through the university track and chose Korea University. The general guidelines state that proof of language proficiency is optional but upon checking KU's Overview, they put it on the list of requirements with these notes:
▪Authorized language proficiency test score in English or Korean (TOPIK, TOEFL iBT, IELTS Academic) within the validity period.
▪For the Department of Business Administration, Graduate School of International Studies, one of the English language test results is mandatory.
▪For the Department of Historical Studies and Korean Language Education, TOPIK level 6 is mandatory
Does this mean that proof of language proficiency is required for the application?
I hope you can help me clarify this one. :(
Thank you in advance~ ^^
Hi! Yes, it's required for KU, so make sure to include that in your application~
@@virginiasvoyage Thank you so much for your response!
I want to apply in Dongseo University but I don't have transcript
What should I do 😭
Did you graduate already? You should be able to ask your university to send you a transcript!
@@virginiasvoyage no i just completed my High school and Indian school don't give Transcript
@@Oktobe5297 oh then I'm not quite sure... I think you should email the Korean embassy in India and ask what you should do
Will NIIED or My University
Call my School 🏫 For more information
No they will just judge based on your documents and if they have an interview with you~
I won't have my bachelor degree for application process. I will get degree in a year. What can i do for that?
I think you will have to wait to apply until you know you will have the diploma in time (because you need it to get the visa)
@@virginiasvoyage i want to opt for major in public relation but i don't think universities are providing this. So i will choose mass communication. Then what major should i fill in application form. I mean there is liberal art social science natural science and all. Which one should i choose?
@@kushi5718 I think it should be liberal arts!
