This process and such a reactor is probably not fast and easy nor cheap to build. But the earth is waiting for fast solutions. I read about torrefaction which is a kind of low temperature oxygen free heating. This dries the material and makes it hydrofobic. After easier compression now, it can be stored outside if needed. It looks a bit like brown coal, I guess. It's now much compacter which allows for lower transport costs. Perhaps domestic waste ovens can be adapted for torrefaction with minor costs and the stored biomass is later (by train) transported to a real professional gasification oven.
