There is more then our literal knees that will bow to God... He loves you and is waiting to forgive you and take all your hatred and bitterness and give you love, peace and joy. I will pray for you.
This is one of my favorite hymns. It has brought me comfort. It was composed by Pastor Joachim Neander, [1650-1680], of the German Reformed Church who regrettably lived a short life; but it was a meaningful one. This hymn is one of 60 he composed. He loved to visit a particular valley in his native Germany where surrounded by nature he found inspiration. Thal is German for valley. Hold that thought. In that same valley or thal the bones of a man were found, which were obviously those of a modern man. But certain scientists, now discredited, wanted to say that these bones were proof that man has evolved from a lower species, which they called Neanderthals after the name of the valley in which they were found. It is sad to note that a great hymnist had his name attached to this hoax especially since he was as this hymn shows a firm believer in Creation and Providence.
They see a skeleton bent at the waist with damage at the base of the spine and say he is learning to walk upright. Which way does gravity work? Its an old man with arthritis he is not coming up he is going down. This is evolutionist mental gymnastics. The story is correct he went with some friends to hear a sermon intending to give a scathing critique of the Pastor's sermon when he was about 20 years old. While there he came under deep conviction and was converted (The Lord was going to call himself a hymn-writer.) I am glad he did this is my favorite hymn. Going to climb bear butte mountain in South Dakota Thursday, when I go hiking and see a beautiful view I play this hymn. Not only is this my favorite hymn, it is also my favorite hiking hymn.
