And I know for a fact that a good majority of them can understand Chinese perfectly well, so I can excuse the ones that want to learn Chinese to be able to communicate with their family. I've learned that trying to learn Japanese from anime isn't recommended, since anime (and manga as well) will use dramatic words that native speakers would never use in real life. :/
