Funny how hindsight is always the best vision we have?
After watching parts 1 and 2 a few times these 2 videos show that rushing into a winch recovery right away so that you can get back to riding isnt always the best option: It would have been better to study the hole very carefully and make a solid recovery plan before proceeding on an extraction, as all the immediate efforts only made things worse.
The best shape this situation was in, was right at the moment of stuck. It only got worse after that, lol!
Of course we now know that the only option on this really thick floating grass/sod situation is straight up and out either by forklift hovering over the hole (not present at the time) or a good solid ramp situation supporting both front and rear wheels right on up and out over that very thick floating sod/grass.
I`m glad I watched in case it happens in my group, and sorry you had to experience it to teach me a lesson bro!

Been there. Pulled one bike straight towards the stuck one. Pulled a 2nd between the two at 90°. Ran the winch cable over the rear rack of the perpendicular bike. Lifted her straight up like a crane. Threw some logs under the back, moved the 90° bike, and winched her out.

Nasty hole for sure, but it's not going to catch on fire. I have rode a whole weekend with shit packed in there.

well I endured the first video and just watched this one. Glad you got 'er out finally; I know by now you've heard every piece of advice on what they would have done lol, but I'm just thinking back to all the times I've been stuck and only had a winch to help one time (and that was on a jeep). I've been in a few hell-holes and predicaments but that's part of it! I'm guessing the weight of your quad is what made it worse, I've rode many dirt bikes up to 600's through shit like that, and I have a Honda 400EX but it's still pretty light. Oh and having helmets still on and the chest waders would have done me in! Have fun out there

Yeah...a soft area...main concern was one tire going under the floating skeg...was trying not to break parts, haha. Didn't pan out. Thanks for watching bud, Cheers!

@@NOSAtvs I've never encountered skeg, I'm in Indiana haha. But maybe you need wheels like this on your quad ua-cam.com/video/u2zdNfaTGSE/v-deo.html
