You guys need to figure out a better solution for both the stack pack, one fifty sail and the solar panels. One more storm like that and those panels are going to be done and your electric motor will be useless. You need an engine that is both diesel and electric (a hybrid if you will) that is more dependable in case of emergency. It might not the solution you want, but it is a solution that at some point may save your lives. Food for thought
Oh man....that was a rough one!!! But you two always take everything in stride. Normans is a great place for wind protection. And oh do I miss those Exuma blue waters. 💙💙💙

You two always impress me with how well you work together. I've seen some couples, when things are heading south, go from zero to snarky in six seconds.
Beau .. ok.. so maybe, eek, maybe, just let Brandy navigate while you keep watch? Not saying nothing! Promise! I mean I do drive better than hubbs. So ok my 2 cents worth for whatever it's worth... Great episode. Super exciting and fun!
Those storms, especially the cold fronts can really rip through the Bahamas. Florida gets the same. The previous owners of my boat have a wild video of a blue sky day that turned into a black wall of death in the sky. Over 100 knot microburst. So glad your anchor held!!! That would make things get really hairy.
Wow🤯 I always wondered how long the pv setup would last. It obviously can take a lot more than I would have placed my money on. The plastic/rubber things in the holes 👍 noted. Nice sail repair Brandy. That speedsticher skill will certainly come in handy. Stay safe, enjoy the adventure.
Happy you were able to emergency repair your sail and the repair -looks- good . If that sail is a safety item, I strongly recommend you take it to a sail loft asap to have it examined and properly patched.
Couple of fun days😮 Nice job on the sail repair. I was just using my speedy stitcher today for the first time in a few years - miracle tool for sure. When do most folks leave the Bahamas for hurricane season? I am currently running north up the Gulf of California to get out of the hurricane zone here. The chubascos (storms like the one you experienced with 80kts) will start up soon. The drill is to prepare for one every night, although one may get through the summer without getting nailed. The ensuing 'garage sales' in the mornings after they wreak havoc are fueled by folks that didn't fully prepare, lash down all there shit, etc... Great video!
I love you guys, and your style. Excellent sail repair, Brandy. I’m glad I saw it. Next week I have to replace the leech edging on my head sail full length, so Im having to learn how to do it. I managed to get Dacron tape 100mm wide and 50mm wide 3M Sail Tape. I haven’t used my sewing machine much so it will be an experience. Your solar panels are totally unique, but they work so well. Your house is looking great inside after your last refit. Like a real home. So well done. Which anchor have you got?
Your sketchy entrance to to that harbor is why my new boat draws 25 inches keel up , 6.5 keel down and is a swing keel . It is a Canadian made Southerly copy , better built though in my opinion than a Southerly . I love a pilot house that still sails well .
Crazy day! Category 1 hurricane winds and only 5 more mph to a category 2. Living in S Louisiana I can relate. It’s always the same walk after with bulging eyes to see what damage has been done. I’m worried that this year will be bad. There are currently 2 storms forming right now in the gulf. It got really hot early this year. Water is warming up fast. Glad y’all made it through.
Impressive sewing work on your sail, Brandy. I also have one of those sewing awls that I've used to repair rotted stitching, stitcher...yes, speedy not so much IMO.
Good preparation limits damage and danger.... Limited topside damage and you didn't drag!!! Just shows how far you've come in the years I've followed you. Great recovery guys you've got a lot to be proud of!
Next give a full description of your anchor, depth, chain, rode. Vmp is volts at maximum watts while connected. Voc is volts with open circuit not connected to battery.
I'm so sorry you had such a hard time for the storm, but you guys are tough, talented, and so capable of handling your problems. Hang in there, you will always win!!!
I'm happy to see you two handle that storm with minor damage and able to get to a safer anchorage. I was happy to see Beau use those rubber grommets to prevent any more aluminum/steel corrosion having experienced that in my manufacturing days and surprisingly with truck air-conditioning connections where someone forgot to put the rubber gasket back in between two of those metals and caused loss of refrigerant.Brandy, I've used that speedy stitch tool on leather and next time you make back to the States, take shopping trip to a leather store 'Leathermaster?'(been so long I've forgotten the name) But if you go there as about 'palm protectors', which will slide over your thumb with extra padding in the are of the base of your thumb (think it's termed Mound of Venus), get both right and left so that both hands are protected. Mind you I hope that you never have to do those types of repairs again, but just incase. Fair winds and gentle waves you two.🥰
Excellent video. When I get out there, I will be alone and what you just went through makes me a little nervous. I do however have a few options to work with, I have solar, wind generator, gas generator, alternator, 2 seperate battery banks, a jackery with 400 watts of solar, and the ever important sailrite sewing machine. I am so looking forward to getting out there. I am happy to hear the anchor held, I believe you said you have a rocna 55 lb. If so, I have the same anchor with a boat with similar weight and length as you, so hopefully I will be fine in that sense. Keep the videos coming.

Brandy that was so amazing the repair and stitching you did on the sail. I know you had to edit because casual viewers would get bored but wow would have loved to have seen you do the repair. Also thank you both for the video, it shows how safe you are in a strong storm. Glad the damage was minor in money and that you too are safe.
Was the shark under the boat waiting for one of you to fall off or throw food over? Looked kinda ominous! Brandi you did a great job on the sail ants Bo you did the same on the solar panels! Glade it all worked out!😅
If you come back to Florida/ICW I have a sewing machine I can give you. It only has one issue with the bobbin. But everything else works ! Its a Kenmore so you can find parts pretty easy .
Hi guys, I'm glad all is ok. You had me on the edge of my seat, and I didn't even see the storm. I am so glad you made it to a safe haven, and the boat made it out of the sand. Prayers for you and Bo❤.
Love you guys! So glad you didn't receive more damage during that storm. Recently saw solar panels that were double-sided so that they could use the sun's reflection off the water to create more power. They seemed perfect for your set up. Future goals.? Safe travels. ❤
Better a sail than a mast. Hopefully the anchorage stayed relatively flat. I often wonder how much my solar panels frames can take. After seeing this I think I'm going to double up on the frame, good idea with the rubber grommets. I've found the white umhw type plastic ones hold up really well also, a little less wiggle also.
Why drill new holes in the stainless tubing? Could you simply move the panel a few inches and drill new holes in the aluminum frame to line up with the existing holes in the tubing? Get some Tefgel too.
actually ended up remodifying to have the lines go straight to the frame itself. but unfortunately couldn't have relocated the bar, bc we have a bar that comes up between the two to lock them in for extra security under passage. we had to keep them in the same place.

Please do a Video on boat anchor & your boat size/ weight on that anchor. how much chain you had out etc. Your anchor setup. thanks. a tip for drilling stainless steel --- 64 Rpm drill speed. stainless should be drilled real slow. yea, you read that right 64 Rpm recommended drill bit speed. i use cobalt drill bits. 55lb epsilon and Saoirse is 35ft and has dry weight of @13,500 lb. Unfortunately it was something that was not predicted nor expected. Lock in the solar with the bar that joins the two, bungee the stack pack, sometimes we lower the boom, and let out more chain.
Geez guys! We’re walking ourselves through what we would do in that situation! Glad y’all and Saoirse are ok.
It was crazy. I’m good with NEVER experiencing that ever again! And hope y’all don’t have to ever!
I'm glad your anchor held and the damage was manageable. A win for team B&B!

How bad is the damage ????
Was this a surprise type thing or you were underestimating the force or nature?
