It could be so much better, NBA All-Star game should be formatted like the MLB All-Star game. Make it East vs West again but the winning conference gets home court advantage in the Finals.
Yes it was a great success although both teams weren't able to establish any rhythm offensively and hit shots consistently except for Kawhi and Kemba, they need to attempt higher percentage shots and just simply execute their plays which they improvise and set up on the fly in free style mode! Overall, this was one of the most entertaining All-Star games I've ever seen and watched in years for a long time. Kawhi deserved and earned the MVP award in honor of Kobe Bryant and very happy he won it after a crazy, wild and epic finish in the fourth quarter with all of the effort, hustle, passion, emotion and intensity in both areas of the game on offense and defense as well.
Same here. Nothing to do with Race, all to do with oppions/takes. I like Nick Wright (even when he's Nick Wrong). And Rob Parker is hilarious and crazy. But Sarah should have been the moderator. Would have saved it
I think ending the first one on a free throw was fitting cause kobe scored his first and last points at the line so I think it’s more meaningful in that regard
@@Goneawol918 He seems faded to me lol. Once he said my wife is texting me I gotta go, that's how I knew. He started cracking at the joke before he said it.
Nah it wasn't. they weren't playing even close to this level of defense in that game. They just locked up on the last few possessions but this was complete shutdown no mistakes or transition play. 2 points were scored in like 5 minutes
I agree. It's not like we haven't had a great game in like 10 years. Yes, this year might be the best because it was more competitive althroughout and it is because of the new scheme that they brought in where they fought for something every quarter and they were playing for Kobe in a sense so they needed to be competitive.
yeah we need impartial refs. past champs will still be biased to their favourite types of dunks. thats why mma will never have former fighters as judges. way too much human bias.
So KD, Paul George, Kyrie, Kevin Love, Kawhi, Curry, Thompson, Boogie, CP3, Lebron, etc all get a freak injury or hurt during a game doesnt count now? Wtf are you talking about Doug.
I like Chris Broussard a lot. He speaks very well on athletes and sports in general. He knows his basketball and I wish he was on those shows more. I know he has a radio show with that Crazy Rob Parker but he always add good stuff when he is on Undisputed, The Herd and Big Boy Whitlocks show. Good job Chris. Hope you get more air time. I know you were sick those last 2 days on Undisputed but you should be next up to host a show. Good job. You are a very fair analyst.
All-Star Game Changes I Would Make: 2-Part: one is to reduce the load of the players and another one is in regard to the game ending in free throws... I'll start with the free throws, cos it's more straight forward... the change is that during the 4th Quarter, making a free throw deducts one point from the opponent teams' score. This way the game cannot be won by a free throws, but at the same time, the losing team won't intentionally foul... another alternative is to implement a "Win by 2/3" Rule... Now to Load management... I was disappointed to see a couple of my favourite players not get too many minutes and felt like the players were playing for too long in the 4th... (bad for their regular season play and I'm pretty sure even Giannis admitted that he got a little tired nearing the end) So to fix this, I reckon they should change "The Starters" to "The Finishers" cos i feel like the people finishing the game are more important than who starts... and for the first 3 Quarters it should be the reserves who compete to win the prize money for their charity, and then only in the fourth, "the finishers" can fight it out to get to the "Target Score"... this way the load on the finishers isn't too great.... alternatively "the finishers" could be on minutes restrictions in the first three quarters... What do you guys think? Any changes You would make? Apart from that, without a doubt, the best All-star game I've experienced, especially since i wasn't watching ball in 2001...
AaronXA I think the free throw point is a great idea, that would be real cool. As to the starters and finishers, that’s could actually work because there is a lot more on the line in the end so we would like to see the best players more at the end than the beginning.
The game was overrated. Essentially the fourth quarter was only 24 points for Giannis and it went by 2s and 3s. It should be 1s and 2s with 24 points as the goal. Chris says you get a “new life every quarter”, no not really because the total score carries over to the fourth quarter.
Doug isn’t the peanut butter or the jelly he’s the sand you accidentally get in the sandwich at the beach but put up with as a kid because “hey at least there’s a little bit of peanut butter and jelly”
NBA can look to change 2 rules: 1. Refs don't call fouls in the 4th quarter (therefore no free throws, but egregious fouls get two FTs and ball possession) or in the last two minutes, any fouls called means the two players go 1v1 for the two points (if the player that was fouled misses, no points). 2. Must win by 2 points (yes this game was won by 2, but if Siakam had hit both FTs, Team LeBron would've won 157-156.)
The 4th quarter was intense. The first quarter was almost unwatchable. Sloppy, lazy and uninspired. Didn’t watch much of quarter 2 and 3. But the format was interesting. Ending the game on a free throw really was anticlimactic but oh well.
Anticlimactic for sure but the stops and transition defense that whole 4th quarter I was out of my seat there were no commercials it was just straight ball
First all star game with this format? And it ends on a free throw. I think it's actually quite fitting since Kobe started and ended his careers with a free throw. See as an unexpected tribute than negative thoughts
I just said the same thing.. in Chicago we play 21 and you can end the game on freethrows... it's really who can shot at the line... because it's two rules... You can live at the line all day!!! Or if you want to be competitive you shoot 3 free throws and you take it back!! And if u at 20 and at the freethrow line you hit and it's game or miss and go back down to 13 points🏀🤔
Best All-Star Game in years!!! Recommend 4th Quarter starts at zero and the first team that gets to 24 wins (Kobe). If you want to add a twist the winning team must win by two points (Gigi). Also, you can add in defense scores like blocking shots (-1) against the team that just got blocked. I played a 21-Game in New Jersey that added defense blocked shots that made the game super exciting!!! Mahalo MD
Can we imagine when Kyrie, Durant, Steph, and Klay all return to this game? Dame and Jimmy Butler get healthy. This All-Star game will become THE GREATEST GAME played in the world every year.
Shoutout to Adam Silver for making seeing something broken and trying to fix it outwardly. I feel like a lot of Times If it ain’t making more money they don’t care if people like or dislike it but that’s not the case you can make more if you listen to the people and he did an it was great
....the gimmick of resetting the scores after each quarter doesnt make a difference because total score still mattered. They could've still donated to the winning charities after each quarter without resetting the scores and call the 4th 'the Mamba mentality' quarter or something. Besides...most people thought Team Lebron was going to wash Team Giannis. If it was indeed a blowout, they'd be talking about this being an epic fail and the set score (which i love btw) wouldve killed the game. The score HAPPENED to be close which is what saved it...
it was fun because we had lebron, embidd, harden, kawhi, giannis, lowry, CP3 all of who are characters in their games... Lowry was floppin, CP3 was snitchin, Lebron was crying, Embiid was crying, Harden was offensive fouling, Kawhi was kawhi, and giannis was playing for the crown lmaoooooo
Cris Carter: According to him, he knows every athlete in the world personally before they started their careers. He probably thinks he was/is the "Key-Factor" that made their careers successful. Nick Wright: Hypocrite and a liar, wants to make a case so badly that he creates technicalities to support his arguments and then tries to "shadow" out points that could work against him. (You can't just go telling a tiny bit of the 'story', you need to tell the whole 'story'.) Shannon Sharp: My restaurant "only" serves Wins and Loses, nothing else! Also Shannon Sharp: Can I interest you in 28/8/8? (A bit contradicting, don't you think?) Skip Bayless: Delusional troll, does he really believe in some of the crazy stuff he actually says at times? Colin Cowherd: Flip-Flops all the time. Marcellus Wiley: Uses a lot of words, to say absolutely nothing. Jason Whitlock: Uncle Tom. Doug: Racist, and 99% of the time he doesn't have a clue what he is talking about. Chris Broussard: My sources say "Clippers are out". (Get real sources. And stop lying that "you've been talking to a certain player or an executive" when you come up during a show. Cause you haven't.) Rob Parker: Convinces himself that the louder he screams his flawed arguments the more correct they must be. That's the Fox sports media for you (excluding Cris Carter now). Next week ESPN, stay tuned!
The first 3 quartet was boring. The fourth was the best. New format for next year; have the captains draw scores for first three quarter from a hat. Both teams only have to play for the 4th quarter up to 24 again.
Lebron could have been the first person to dunk from the 3 point line. In 2007-2011 Lebron was the most athletic professional basketball player the earth has witnessed. He could have done some stuff that defy comprehension. Remember in 2010 when Lebron was in POR for a road game and jumped so high for the rebound that his dead was over the rim. First thing is Doug is terrible. Secondly, Rudy Gobert was on the bench where he belonged. I don’t want to see Rudy Gobert. The person who lost that game was Kemba Walker. He was absolutely terrible in the 4th quarter. That’s on Giannis for pick all small guards but I guess he didn’t know it would be this competitive.
what a stupid take ! you mean the DPOY deserves to be on the bench when your needed defense on the last play , if Rudy was guarding AD over Lowry team Gianins would have gotten a better chance, Nurse should have just subbed him in for that play then take him out for offense
You can't say we Doing it for "Kobe" and add 24.. and 24 points and say win by 2 or 3 thats defeats the purpose for Kobe!! Chris Paul is a genius!! He's know in Chicago we play 21.. First one get there wins!!! Now what they could do was " if you foul" One free throw shot and if you miss you take 5 points away" but their are professionals and they have pride so they going to be fouling all night and the games will be played all night so you have to end the game🤔🏀
Add .5 as an option and move it along. There are dunks that deserve more than a 9 but less than a 10. So it's a 9.5. None of this .2 or .8 foolishness. That's too technical. Also... celebrity judges aren't necessary. People are watching already. You're not drawing additional audience because Common or Chadwick or Khalid are judging.
Only slight quib I have is the disappointment and loss taken by the kids Giannis' team represented. Their charity was reward 75% less. I'm not a bleeding heart snowflake who believes in participation trophies. I understand they did get 100K. I'm not opposed to anything that happened. I do believe they will possibly tinker with the charity distribution next time.
Really dope ASG ! Next year take out the free throw ending and replace the dunk contest with a 1 on 1 competition between top 8 players that the fans choose. 👀
Whoa Doug sure did sound stupid with the how they gonna get hurt. Seriously so easy to get hurt playing basketball. I just lost all respect for Doug period. That’s was disrespectful to all basketball players that ever played. I’ve been hurt countless times playing ball. Pretty much every real competitive game something is gonna happen on some kinda level.
Was the revamped All-Star game format a huge success?
It could be so much better, NBA All-Star game should be formatted like the MLB All-Star game. Make it East vs West again but the winning conference gets home court advantage in the Finals.
Take out the 3pt line to clean it up
And make the dunk contest a game of horse, clears all that judge bs up
First Things First yes the whole all star weekend was great!! Good job NBA.

NBA can look to change 2 rules:
You know what they should do. Keep that first to end that game, but make it a two possession victory just like on the streets

CP3 SHOULD HAVE BEEN MVP
If you get fouled on game point you don't get free throws, you gotta go 1 on 1 with the guy who fouled you. 8 second shot clock, no rebounds.
This format is perfect for All-Star weekend, but this should never be considered for regular season.

Rudy gobert is not the best defender in the league he is good a blocking shots but not 1 on 1 guarding
Thank goodness LeBron missed that shot from 40 feet. It would be non-stop LeBron talk and haters would once again go on suicide watch.
Wait is Doug actually high? Lol he fr might be or he is getting noticeably more unbearable
I guess these guys like three pointers, most ever taken any game ever ! B-Ball today is not a good game :(
Really dope ASG ! Next year take out the free throw ending and replace the dunk contest with a 1 on 1 competition between top 8 players that the fans choose. 👀
Chris and Doug are way better than Nick wright
Heck nawhhh!!
Gottlieb is right
He is a hayter
Who’s the new Jenna?
Whoa Doug sure did sound stupid with the how they gonna get hurt. Seriously so easy to get hurt playing basketball. I just lost all respect for Doug period. That’s was disrespectful to all basketball players that ever played. I’ve been hurt countless times playing ball. Pretty much every real competitive game something is gonna happen on some kinda level.
Get nick wright off this show and keep these 2
