Are you asking how long they take to bloom in zone 10? It typically depends on when they're planted. In general, if you plant them in the fall-or early enough in spring-they should bloom for you in summer.
Many people mulch around daylilies but don't cover the crown. Once in a while a straggler appears but it helps a lot to mulch. Pull weeds when they're small.
We weed by hand but keep at it pretty much year 'round. We also mulch like crazy! Mulch is fantastic for helping to keep the weeds down. We are thankful to have a team of dedicated farm hands that help us out! We are always on the look-out for ways to help us weed faster and more efficiently. If we can find some reasonable options, we hope to shoot a video on some of those later this summer.
