I have enjoyed all of your videos. I recently bought a 1992 f150 5.8 4wd the body is in great shape but the motor was rough. Got the motor running right and what i thought was a Lifter tapping turned into a Rod knocking.... so i was going to pull the motor and replace the crankshaft and bearings. Well on the way to my Dads house it slung the rod. SO i said screw it and im ordering a motor for it. I have learned a lot just by your videos and i'm very excited to work and drive this truck! Thank you for all your hard work and guides!
Great video again, I knew there was freon leak dye, but did not know there was a dye for oil leaks also. I will get my hands on this stuff and a black light flashlight so I can see where my oil leak is coming from on my slant 6 engine. Glad to see another old truck enthusiast making videos of the common maintenance issues these older trucks have an how to help keep them daily driver friendly!
Thanks Chad!🤙 I appreciate it! Yup, they have several types of dye and they all work very well. Slant 6! Very cool! Yup, my truck is my DD. So I have to keep it running like a top.
Thanks Sam!🤙 I appreciate it! Yeah it’s hard to believe because it’s stock and the paint has seen better days. Hopefully, I’ll give my truck a facelift with a lift, paint job, and wheel. So far, I’d like to keep all the emissions equipment intact but I’m leaning toward getting rid of everything but the cats.
Hi Steve, How are you doing? Another informative video to locate a problem that can be addressed. It appears that your engine might have a few oil leaks as well. Didn't you recently have your engine out of the truck? I guess you need an oil change on the outside as well, chuckle...
I’m doing well Jesse! Just enjoying being a dad. Thank you!🤙 I did have the engine out and now it looks like the brand new Felpro oil pan gasket is leaking. I guess I do! Lol
Thanks man!🤙 Eventually I will because quite a bit of ATF spits out every once in a while. I think is the torque converter seal or the transmission pump gasket.
Nice video. A question. Is there an inexpensive radio that connects to the factory cables. Can recommend one. Need to change my factory radio. As always keep up the awesome vids.
Thanks Fabjac!🤙 I think most radios/head units are around $100. They’re all pretty good. So feel free to pick one that suits your budget. You’ll need to find a compatible wiring harness to adapt to the existing radio harness. As far as a know, there are no plug and play radios out there for these trucks. Thanks man! I appreciate it!🤙
Is it okay to run the engine with the dye still in it? I’m kind of paranoid because I told my mechanic that it was safe and I’m not a professional but that was with research
I may not have that in the works for a while. If I remember there is a drain plug on the radiator where you can at least drain the bulk of the coolant. Then you can disconnect the lower radiator hose and set up some tubing so it will drain into a bucket. Then you can put a hose into the upper radiator house inlet and flush it out. I usually use Prestone because it’s cheap and common. I’ve heard orange color coolant is for GM vehicles.
Any chance you know anything about alternator swaps? I have a 2g alternator on my 91 f150. Would like a 3g. I basically understand I just need a harness and to swap but how do I know I'm buying the right 3g alternator that will bolt to the original holes
I did a bunch of research but have seen a lot of people get the wrong alternator. Trying to save myself the pain of taking mine off just to see the new one doesnt line up right. Thanks man
Good question. I did a 3g to 3g 120 alternator swap. I read an article by 4 Wheel and Off-road on how to do it. I’ll have to look at that article to be sure.
www.fourwheeler.com/how-to/electrical/1612-ford-alternator-upgrade-for-more-battery-charging-power/ See if this article answers your question. They have a lot of good info.
I just bought some for a power steering leak. Do I need to put the whole bottle in the reservoir, or just a portion of it? It's a 1 ounce bottle. Thanks.

Thanks man!🤙 Wow! Yep, I’d probably go with a new engine too. Lol
You are most welcome and I appreciate it!🤙

Thanks for the video. Very helpful.
You’re welcome!!

Awesome! Thanks
Thanks man!🤙
I love the stuff you do on this channel.
Your progress on this truck.is amazing. I'm hoping for a in depth smog pump delete video one day, maybe.
Thanks Sam!🤙 I appreciate it!

@@TheMinuteMasters sweet. You gonna go for a leveling kit, ir something bigger?
@@Alphawolf2325 I want to put a long travel suspension on my truck. Cut and turned I beams with extended radius arms.🤙
@@TheMinuteMasters that sounds like an interesting idea. If they make a kit or something be sure to let us know!
@@Alphawolf2325 Actually a couple of companies do make kits. They are more expensive than traditional lift kits but they are just too cool.
Good tip I didn’t even no about out this I tried it on my work truck and of course the rear main seal is leaking
Yup, it’s great stuff, even if it’s the barer of bad news. Lol

Thanks man!🤙 Eventually I will because quite a bit of ATF spits out every once in a while. I think is the torque converter seal or the transmission pump gasket.
Do you have to wear the glasses with this particular set up?
I’ve never worn the glasses and I can see the dye just fine.

Yup! That’s the idea. I’ve ran my engine and transmission with these dyes with no issue.
Any chance you can do a how to on a radiator flush. Also is it worth it to go name brand or 50/50. A proper flush?

I just undo the coolant drain at the bottom and flush with a garden hose, works fine in my experience

did you put both dye’s? or just 1
I did one to start. I bought two just in case.
I just bought some for a power steering leak. Do I need to put the whole bottle in the reservoir, or just a portion of it? It's a 1 ounce bottle. Thanks.
I think the directions state how much to put in. Otherwise, a full bottle works for an engine. You could get away with half a bottle.
Now let's fix it
Much easier to do at night
