I'm about to finish my Camille Tee by Céline Feyten. It is middle for sure - there is absolutely finishing needed. No ribbing, nothing done to the neckline. The cuffs and hem are lace motifs worked separately and added on with a three needle bind off. I am SO HAPPY to have a break from doing a sewn bind off. Which sewn bind off tip I only learned a few months ago - you can double/quadruple up the yarn in the eye of the needle so you don't have obsurdly long tails to pull through. Total game changer.
Knitting the shift cowl and finding it pretty only childish - kind of fussy and needing to look at the pattern for every row. But also exquisite! Love the show ❤
loved tim’s continental purling. i think using soda tabs as stitch markers is middle behavior i’m stash busting and learning new techniques as i make some bandanas for summer - oldest behavior
For me, stitch markers are EVERYWHERE. I'm guaranteed to have one on me at all times because they have taken over and ended up in every bag, every pocket, all around my chairs that I sit in, just like strands of my hair and hairties 🤣 also I was so excited when you read my needle analysis🤣I'm working on a test which I feel like is oldest because sure I'll meticulously check this pattern for errors for you, but the pattern itself feels youngest or only because it's VERY unique and will stand out a lot with metal eyelets and a sort of horizontal corset with icord laces.
heeeeyyyyyy I'm knitting an Outline Tee. I'm a bit perplexed on what it would be, maybe youngest? because risky dropped stitch right at the end? I'm going with that
Ooh, I have two main WIPs. One is an ongoing project where I try a bunch off different afterthought heels and toe combos searching for my perfect vanilla sock. Even making up my own heels. Totally an oldest project. The second is a shawl that is half lace, and when you’re totally over lace switches to garter, and when you can’t handle that you bind off and have something that anyone would love - middles child energy.
I’m knitting a cozy classic light, which feels very oldest. It’s classic (I’m knitting in stripes, using stash yarn…sensible of me!), and such a comprehensive pattern. Lots of info, very eldest behavior to provide thorough instruction 😂
Am I internet famous now? Yas!!!!! Also love how yall made fun of my Portuguese purling then said you Norwegian purl 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I am noticing and calling out with my only behavior 🤣🤣🤣. See you Wednesday guys!!!! Xoxo
Ok.I had to rethink my answer! 😄 I'm knitting the Classic ribbed Hat by Purl Soho...and I first thought oldest but now I'm feeling middle. Like it's mindless but also wants to demand attention with the back and forth. ❤ Also, I love the hierarchy of stitch markers!
Really loving the vibes of your videos, so much fun! I’m knitting a pair of Campfire socks, in a cartridge rib. I’m definitely an oldest (oldest child + oldest of 20 grandkids in the family). I low key think everything I knit has oldest vibes and I just don’t realize it!
I have just cast on the waffle loop sweater. Pattern is 100% oldest because of all of the cables BUT I'm knitting it off gauge in a bright cobalt blue which is making this a chaotic youngest sibling project
loving the pod, as ever ! currently knitting on a fingering weight all-over colourwork cardigan that is knit in the round & then *steeked* - it is also a WIP that i cast on at least two years ago. So I feel like it’s giving only child (requires full attention of both parents - using two hands for colourwork) but also with a bit of middle child in there (frequently overlooked for other projects).
Y’all are the best. Several WIPs going currently, but this 3x1 rib sock in some WYS from stash is giving middle child energy. Reliable, not over the top, but everyone loves it.
I'm knitting a forth hat in the BRIGHTEST purple to ever be and its definitely a middle because it's just trying to be loud so someone will pay attention to it :p
I'm in solidarity with Phillip! 😄 I was an only for 5 years, then became the oldest, so I guess it tracks I do Portuguese knitting as a North American. 😂
thanks for another fun pod ep + the generous giveaway! i'm currently knitting the "very kochi cardigan" by yoko johnston (an aran-weight, cabled, raglan cardi with some nice seed stitch details AND pockets! pockets with contrasting colors! knit kinda all in one piece-the construction is so genius and unique and very, very thorough) ..... all that being said, i would say this project has a v playful Youngest energy for sure, but with a touch of influence from a middle or oldest (bc, c'mon, that construction)
I loooove this podcast! You all are the best. I’m knitting a Hello From My Colors Crop and it’s my first time doing all over stranded colorwork and a lot of gauge math has been involved… I think it’s youngest because it’s bold and unapologetically colorful, it’s short sleeve inpatient, and I’m forcing it to be the size I want instead of following the rules 😅
I’m working on a So Basic Sweater. Big oldest energy: it’s fingering weight, using 9-inch circulars wherever possible, and is the second one I’m knitting for myself because I wanted to modify this version to have a folded half twisted rib collar. And knitting combination continental to stay on brand
20min into the episode and my cheeks start hurting. you two together are just the funniest LOVE the shirts!! I'm knitting on a vanilla (shorty) sock, a trust-worthy oldie but goody, so definitely oldest vibes (funnily enough though, it's a birthday present for my younger sibling)
I’m pulling together yarn for yet another test because even though I have a mile long to-make list, I feel a ReSpOnSibiLiTy to help the designers I love and that is some serious oldest behavior. The pattern itself is creative and fun, color work plus texture, a quick knit, very youngest I think.
I am working on the Douglas Cardi. I am getting middle child energy. Stripes are a bit flash but mostly just simple. Like maybe it wants attention but it couldn't commit. But I am adding Van Gogh inspired buttons because I am a youngest!
Knitting a beige Daily Pullover and it's definitely an oldest because that v-neck will be an absolute wardrobe staple...but it's also a beige fingering weight sweater 🥴
Yes! Breakfast for 24 hrs! You're my people! I'm currently working on a Musselburgh hat - it's going to be everyone's Christmas gift this year. I'm an oldest whose perfectionist tendencies can cause knitting paralysis - Mckenzie, you helped me start seaming up my Bare Branches cardigan at Starlight weeks ago - have I finished it yet? Hell no! I may be coming back to see you! ;-)
I’m knitting vanilla socks - so you would think middle BUT these are Halloween socks from 2023….and they are six different 10gram minis in various stripes so I think they are giving youngest.
Working on toddler socks to match mama socks for Shaundra (my baby) and her baby (3 yrs old so also not a baby). Tim, I'm with you on infrequent sock knitting habits. so awesome to see where you've gotten to from when we first met back at SUNY NP.
Shari! I just got really emotional seeing this! I’m not sure if you and Shaundra know how much you changed my knitting/spinning life! You come up in conversation all the time…walking by Shaundra’s dorm room and seeing her (your?) Ashford Wheel. My first drop spindle! You are both icons! ❤❤❤ thank you so much! And congrats on grand babies!
I’m knitting the Franklin Park tee and its ADHD youngest energy. I have chaotic intarsia yarn tangles everywhere despite having a system and I can’t remember to read my pattern. 😂
Can't wait to watch this and get some knitting in! I'm currently teaching myself to knit my first Musselburgh hat & how to do magic loop (which I feel is very only child behavior, who needs instruction?? 🤣)
I literally paused the podcast and went to make french toast XD. I'm knitting the souffle by laura penrose. I think it's an only with middle tendencies (cute, a little quirky, but at points missing kinda crucial info....it's me in blouse form haha).
I’m currently knitting Elevenses for my godson. It’s a baby knit that looks like a grandpa cardigan! As for its birth order…I think it’s a middle child because it is being knit for a middle child 😂
Knitting a vanilla sock with heel flap and gusset in a self striping yarn. I’m thinking it’s an oldest (trusty pattern) with youngest tendencies given the bright self striping vibes.
Love listening to you two chat! I’m knitting a hugely oversized orange-red sweater with definite middle vibes - it’s a sensible basic but it’s striving to be different! Look at meeeeee! 😂
I'm knitting my 4000th pair (not really) of Hermione's Everyday Socks in John Arbon Exmoor Sock. I believe this pattern has Oldest energy because it's straightforward, easy to memorize (eldest teaches the younger siblings how to memorize by practicing times tables, nursery rhymes, music lyrics, etc.), looks good in any yarn (eldest always gets new clothes that fit them), and it's a free pattern (like how the eldest is always free labor for childcare). Also, even though Hermione is an only, she gives Oldest energy in groups. I think my reasoning is a clear argument for naming HEDS an Oldest pattern. 😊
Starlight used to be my LYS when I lived in Woodstock! Oh boy, it's hot right now, so naturally, knitting a plutolopi colorwork sweater. Is this oldest behavior? Only? Thanks for your silly podcast!
I’m working on a Marie Wallin pattern, which is probably an oldest. I also have a lingering cabled sweater with major fit adjustments needed - set in sleeves with too skinny arms at every size on the chart :( That must be an only, i guess. I’ll work it out eventually, but not today.
I am crocheting the C St. Tank by Blame The Knots. I don't know what vibe this pattern is but that makes sense since I don't fit with the Oldest, Middle, Youngest. I'm an only child but inherited 2 step siblings when I was 12. So I'm not sure what category I fit in.
I'm a knitting a two colored grape baby hat for my first baby, so this is definitely oldest....I learned how to change colors knitting and bought organic dyed baby yarn, if that doesn't scream attention towards oldest kid idk what does
So, I may be the only person watching who loves this podcast energy and yet misses entirely understanding birth order stereotypes. I just love watching you two chat and the quick decisions you make about what sibling energy you associate with things. I'm trying to crochet through my acrylic stash, making huge crocheted buckets to store all of the yarn I recently brought back from my mom's estate, I am re-organizing my studio, putting two kallex shelves together on wheels with a desk top to maximizes storge, but I didn't buy the the fabric cubes. I wanted to have a different vibe. Is that first born vibes? so extra?
I'm knitting Blueberry Waffle socks. This is the third pair I've made for myself, so I'm going to say that this pattern is a middle, like me, because it's pretty simple and therefore also kinda forgettable. :P
I'm knitting the trilo tee with yarn that was originally meant for another project but for which I accidentally bought exactly half the amount of yarn I need, so I feel like it's a half sister because it had a family before this WIP came around.
About the chicken, i think it suits the cottage core trend that we’ve had for a while and the stashbust trend. Faerie girlies with long skirt dresses in linnen gingham and an emotional support chicken. I mean, i would date that person.
Garter marler cartigan. BIG oldest energy: practical wear and uses up sock yarn scraps - responsibly -and knits up at a responsable rate because sock held double =size 6 needles.
Currently knitting on my sheep camp which uses natural & forage dyed Scottish yarn - definitely oldest energy, like 20 year age difference oldest - UNLESS it's a super odd and eccentric youngest that dgaf
Hi! I’m Lexie, and I’m an oldest. Currently working on a half and half triangles wrap… which seems like a middle to me. I’ve been knitting this dang thing forever, I just want it to be over.
i'm knitting andrea mowry's brum sweater. in oldest fashion by doing a test knit on some throw away yarn before i spin to make the real one. because i'm a shitty knitter.
I am binding off 472 stitches on my shawl - definitely youngest sibling energy - super annoying! (I am the youngest in my family so I am allowed to say that).

Loved this!! Also: Joe’s stuff: BBQing spatchcock chicken with THAT seasoning!! Sooooooooo good!! 🤤😋
Knitting the shift cowl and finding it pretty only childish - kind of fussy and needing to look at the pattern for every row. But also exquisite! Love the show ❤
loved tim’s continental purling. i think using soda tabs as stitch markers is middle behavior
i’m stash busting and learning new techniques as i make some bandanas for summer - oldest behavior

Thanks for the laughs this Saturday morning!! Knitting the toe of a second sock!
I’m working on a Strange Brew t-shirt, and to me the SB pattern gives mega middle energy 🫠🤣
Getting ready to start a handspun pink colorwork crop top, which is some peak "I have to be the most special and unique" only energy.
Knitting a 2ply lace shawl. It's definitely only child energy 😅
Currently knitting “The Classic Tee” by Darling Jadore - as an only with oldest tendencies it feels like my perfect knit.😂
I’m currently binding off my Misurina. Cables and colorwork: for sure Oldest.
Knitting a Lace Eater shawl full of cables and lace, not even sure how to categorize that. Maybe only? Maybe weird aunt?
Another delightful podcast!
Finished the yolk of my Sheep Camp Sweater and it definitely has youngest energy as it is screaming to stand apart from its siblings.

I just started making my very first Cumulus blouse. Reliable, easy-going, a bit boring but delivering - definitely an oldest. 😂
I’m knitting vanilla socks - so you would think middle BUT these are Halloween socks from 2023….and they are six different 10gram minis in various stripes so I think they are giving youngest.

Sewn bind-off is giving me only vibes too.
OMG, this is what i needed to start the weekend 😂and I get merch.
Currently watching the pod and knitting on a Hanko pullover (pattern by sari nordlund) which has oldest energy for sure 🎉
I’m knitting the Franklin Park tee and its ADHD youngest energy. I have chaotic intarsia yarn tangles everywhere despite having a system and I can’t remember to read my pattern. 😂

I am knitting the Leela top by Caidree and I get serious older sibling vibes from this pattern due to its high neckline. Haha :)
