Clean Keto is high fat (Extra virgin olive oil, Avocado oil and Coconut oil, not seed oils.) Moderate grassfed meats and eggs, high fiber from green salads and nuts (7 to 10 cups per day) supplementation and sugar free electrolytes. All fats are not equal, all proteins are not equal, and health and nutrients is the key.

My understanding is that all fats, olive or seed, inevitably block insulin receptors at the cell, thus inhibiting insulin signaling
similar to the way an abundance of ear-wax can interfere with sound waves reaching the eardrum-
...as a consequence, the person speaking has to crank up the volume
...likewise, the pancreas has to crank up the insulin

Natural catabolism of muscle as we age (sarcopenia) decreases the mass available to act as a sponge to mop up excess blood glucose. Because of this it makes sense that HbA1c & insulin markers rise and often remain chronically elevated leading to met syn, t2D and misc diseases of hyperinsulinemia. Yet another pathway

You mentioned Dr Taylor. He advocates for meal replacement shakes to bring weight down as quickly as possible. Would you support that (obviously opting for a plant-based product)? I am 64, 50 lbs overweight, and in a consistent state of pre-Type II per my A1C. I obviously struggle with weight even on a plant-based diet. Very frustrating!

Have you added some resistance training to your life? I have found that building some muscle while employing a plant based diet along with daily walking is a winning formula. Wishing you the best on your journey.

Im having the same Hba1c issue in post menopause. I’ve noticed muscle catabolism as I age notwithstanding I eat good amounts of protein but it occurs to me that bc muscle is a sponge for blood glucose it makes sense that the less muscle we have in aging the longer blood glucose remains elevated and over the long term this chronic elevation will affect the hba1c and insulin

So poly insaturated fats are not overloading the body with free fatty acids ? I would like to know what (and how) are they used for by the body ? membranes regeneration ? other ? why are they NOT stuck in the blood the same way as saturated and trans fats are ?

Sorry to be making a personal comment because I like and respect these two men's work, but I couldn't help noticing that this excessively muscly body shape has become more and more popular among men who end up looking like the Michelin Man and dare I say, fat. Men who exercise excessively to achieve this shape actually look fat to me, and often have a double chin like those in this video and don't look healthy either. What happened to the classic Greek body ideal, muscly yes, but lean rather than inflated and muscle-bound? Some of these Michelin Men don't even seem to walk properly or be able to hold their arms down in a normal way because of the excessive muscles and surely their skin becomes stretched as if they were fat instead of muscly, so if one day they stopped exercising they would become very wrinkly and flabby. I also wonder if there's some insecurity there when it comes to masculinity as this body-building really is excessive and unhealthy imo. I myself do weights and like to be toned and have some muscle definition but in a balanced way.

21:00 Yeah, polyunsaturated and saturated fats are really different, but I would worry more about using polyunsaturated. Also I would worry about my knowledge if I would put saturated fats and transfats into the same basket.

Can you discuss the difference between post prandial elevated triglycerides (happens after high fat meal) versus fasting elevated triglycerides? Many in the keto or low carb community consistently have low fasting triglycerides. What does one do who follows a plant based diet yet continues to have elevated fasting triglycerides? What modifications to a plant based diet have you seen that successfully lowers fasting triglycerides in those who are susceptible to such phenomena?

Keto diets promote fat adaptation- the utilization of fats for fuel. If you're using fats for fuel, you're taking them out of the blood. Low carb = low triglycerides. You can eat a low carb plant based diet.

    • @soundstormdubai

but you are damaging your body long term by using an adaptative starving mechanism every day … just because you like animals products so much and you don’t want to live without them

I eat a mostly plant based diet low saturated fat and have low triglycerides. If you have high ones you probably still are not metabolically healthy. You are still have too much fuel, so you still need to loose some weight. I don't agree with this video fully though, there has been diabetes remission on low carb and whole food plant based. In my eyes it is the reduction of body fat that does the trick.

If you eat like most people do, your microbiome is not likely to be optimal. Just increase your plant intake and slowly get rid of ultra processed and fast food in your diet. That will improve your health. If it doesn't, you have serious microbiome issues.

Follow up question. If a lower carb plant based diet will help with lower fasting triglycerides, any evidence supporting a specific increase in plant proteins and fats (except palm or coconut) with respect to carbs. Proteins tend to remain generally fixed whether plant or animal (humans have a protein satiation point?) so that would leave fats to increase. Does one get the same deleterious effects for post prandial high triglycerides with healthy plant fats?
