Old Schindler lift ...and I've been GIVEN the motor room key!

  • Did I turn the key around - YES, Did I jiggle it around - YES, Did I try the door handle - YES, Did I try different keys - YES... I spent over 30 minutes trying to get in with every key that I could find, and for the sake of an unnamed person (name with wolf in it) the BUILDING OWNER has the lift motor room keys as he owns the property not the lift company, so YES YES YES, I did everything I could to get in BELIEVE ME. I'm sure you really don't want to watch 30 minutes of me trying keys, hence I've EDITED OUT the key trying attempts AND my 3 visits going up and down trying different keys.
    No further description necessary as I tell you everything with the voice-over in the movie.
    (I have another Old Schindler lift movie coming soon with motor room - I promise lol)

  • @TamasH87

    The main purpose of the floor switch is to let the controller "know" that there is somebody inside, so the lift wont't respond to calls from the outside while you are inside. They had no memory function back then so they'd just ignore calls while somebody was riding. Some had a timer though, so if you hung around in the lift too long, after say...3 minutes it would start reaponding to calls. The light switch feature is just a bonus.

    Never turn the key around when trying to insert it since it can damage the tip of the key.
    Also, just a tip: if a lock is awkwardly placed, it's probably the one that works.

    Looks like a really awesome lift. I really like the round windows, gives it a bit of a retro charm. Tell me something, have you ever been in a lift that does not have internal doors?

  • @striatogatto
    @striatogatto 4 роки тому

    nteresting!
    Except that the colleagues in this case with the addition of the automatic internal door have forgotten about an important thing which is also provided for by law!
    In the event that the lift stops between 2 floors, the internal door cannot be opened electrically as in this case by pressing the STOP button! To avoid accidents the door should only open in the door area! Door zone means (+ - 15 cm) from the exact level.
    To do this, all you need to do is install a 1 permanent magnet sensor or a reed sensor on the roof of the cabin and place the magnets or shielding plate on each floor so as to make the cabin door open only when the lift is in the door zone. Not to mention that they kept the movable floor, which in this case with the automatic internal door does not make sense.
    Hydraulic lifts are used for re-leveling with open doors under similar conditions,
    with the difference of installing 2 permanent magnet sensor or a reed sensor + (Safety relays or contactor) Featured in a video you made titled: 9 MINUTES OF HYDRAULIC LIFT MOTOR ROOM a hydraulic OTIS LV1-LV2-LVC relays.
    LVI-LV2-LVC in the event that the hidraulic lift re-level, and for whatever reason the lift kept going up with the doors open, as soon as the cabin leaves the door zone (+ - 15 cm)
    LV1-LV2-LVC relay they de-energize
    thus stopping the moving cabin.
    (In hydraulic OTIS controllers, You always hear LV1-LV2 relays that clack clack l, ascending each floor. The STOP button in the cabin has been prohibited since 2002 with the entry into force of the EN-81-1 law.

  • @keith800

    I wonder about the floor, as lifts have a timer to turn off the lights when lift isn't being used makes me wonder how old the lift really is as some old lifts once had a switch under the floor so car can be called if the internal gate had been left open. and also why is the stop button still connected despite internal doors now fitted

    Nice lift! To bad that the key's didn't fit. The top key hole look like a cylinder for a very advanced type of key. I saw that the key has pits in it instead of insciscions, this makes the lock very hard to pick. What I find special but also a bit annoying about swiss lifts, is that the light goes out when it is not in use. In some countries (the netherlands) that is not allowed by the elevator regulations.
    The three languages on the fixtures where of course a dead give away that this lift is in Switzerland. I've been in Switzeland a few times on summer holidays in the past, I've seen several different parts of the country. The multilingual aspect makes it special.

    • @mrmattandmrchay
      @mrmattandmrchay  9 років тому

      The key at the bottom I think is the locked one. There was only one key that fitted the top hole, but didn't turn. I haven't had much luck on this visit, but I did get a hydraulic lift motor room - yeah I know it's just a controller with a tank of oil and a pump - not much to look at, but the controller was all relays - coming soon!

    Why does it open the doors everywhere upon pressing STOP? Soviet lifts open them ONLY when the car is EXACTLY at a floor +/- 5..10 cm, otherwise it simply stops and remains closed.

    • @mrmattandmrchay
      @mrmattandmrchay  9 років тому

      Алексей Рукин I was surprised the inside doors open, but I know why - The interior door was an add-on. With the relay logic, it's all they could come up with without modifying the existing relay wiring. Perhaps if the engineers who added the internal doors had a little more time or knowledge, or some extra relays then they would have prevented the internal doors from opening. Or perhaps it's designed to do this.
