@@Cats_Are_Better_Than_Ppl While I can see how it seem's like it is rushed. I think it was done in a brilliant way. Catra has been shown to have psychological problems throughout the series. She was raised to be bad. She was raised to do all the bad things she has done. If you put yourself in the shoes of Catra, being raised as such, It's a much deeper psychological problem that plays out through the whole series. She could have gone complete mad, if she didn't yet already. she became complete choas and destruction. But there were glimps of hope for her In many instances. Especially when they had Catra and Adora together in the first ones area with light hope or w/e don't exactly remember. but It showed the past and present. It showed just how CLOSE they were and could still be. But Catra is misunderstood, and her mindset is toxic. She would not open up and she could never until she hit rock bottom. She had to learn for herself who she is, and what all these emotions she has really meant. To me, everything that led up to this point made perfect sense. And I was oblivious to all the signs of "catradora" It seemed so subtle, only the people really looking for it would have noticed. Her character was hard to understand for me, until I learned what the real cause behind her actions were. It was the feeling of the one person you thought you knew your entire life and loved them like no other, abandoning you like you are nothing. It was what set her off. Adora leaving was the beginning of her going mad, and adora being there for her is the end to the madness. Love is the strongest emotion anyone can ever feel, and it can make u do the craziest shit. I don't believe it was rushed, and with such a bigger bad in the mists.. everyone was accepting. Catra did save Glimmer after all, and apologized for everything. While i do believe more conflict should have been there, it might have been out of character. The whole show is about support and love. You can just tell by how even the male characters like bow act. Not supporting Catra when she let herself go, became vulnerable, and sacrificed herself to save glimmer. I don't think Bow or Glimmer would protest against that. I don't see it in their characters.
@@Cats_Are_Better_Than_Ppl in my opinion, Bow was mad at glimmer because he expected more from glimmer. He didnt have time to be mad at glimmer given all the shit that was going on. He never had time to express his emotions. With catra he has been mad at her the whole time they've known her. There should have been more conflict in terms of accepting Catra. Mainly because a loved one is dead because of Catra. Any normal person would have protested against Catra. If not bow or glimmer, it should have at least been one of the princesses. However, there is precedence with Scorpia and Adora turning to good guys. They've seen it before, it can happen again. So no one protests against it because the bigger evil is the more worrying event. It does make sense to me in terms of Lord Prime being the most evil worse thing to ever have happened. It overshadows what Catra did, and therefore no one really cares at the time because they all share a common enemy. If not for Lord Prime there would have been way more conflict and maybe even impossible for Catra to redeem herself. but I do agree with you, there could have been more to it but I liked how it played out personally. To me, Catra trying to leave at the end of the season makes perfect sense for her character. It's showing she is still Catra with her insecurities and closed heart. It even shows just how much deeper her love for Adora is that she can't sit there and watch Adora put her life at risk. She is running away from the problem and her feelings because she still has it in her mind that she's alone and will always be alone. But she comes out of being closed minded and opens up. That event made Catra opening up to Adora even more meaningful. This is just how i see it and why i thought it was done in a brilliant way. Ofc more episodes could explain further, gotten deeper, and made it more interesting. but with the current 13 episodes i wouldn't change anything personally.
I think people have trouble reconciling with Catra's redemption because she hit absolute rock bottom before clawing her way back out of a hole she dug herself. Honestly, I think that makes it even better.
Catra echoing her younger self as she asks "You promise?", cutting immediately to Adora saying "I promise!" to chipped Catra... oh man, that HURT SO *GOOD.*
I thought long and hard about why Catra's arc resonates with me so much. The truth is that there are a lot of people out there, myself included, that had bad childhoods and grew up internalising the idea that we are worth nothing and showing vulnerability will only make everyone hurt us or leave us. We are Catra, and when your one close friend, your other half, decides to leave you broken without a glance to be with new, mentally healthier and happier people and make a new destiny for herself, it feels like the worst kind of abandonment. You close yourself off further, lash out, and convince yourself you don't care about them. You hate them for what they did to you and you want to break them down or elevate yourself to the point where nobody will have to see you vulnerable again. Finally, in season five, we get to see Catra laid bare. Her hair is gone, she's been through the emotional wringer. She's basically decided to end it all by freeing Glimmer because she knows she will get caught and that's the end of her because Prime will not forget. She's given up and truly believes she is not worthy of love and will never have what she wants. And then she's rescued, but she still doesn't know how to get past all those barriers she's set up all her life and just be vulnerable. We start to see her open up, learn and grow. She uses her ears and tail more to express her emotions. She realises what she wants is a life filled with love and Adora and that she'll have to change to get it. It gives me hope for all of us. Inside so many of us there is an angry, scared little kid that learned very early in life that vulnerability and opening up to people is dangerous because it hurts. Catra's arc shows me that it's possible to change, even after you've done so many horrible things that you can't figure out how to start atoning. You can still grow and be better and get what you want and be happy. Catra shows me it's not too late for me to get a redemption arc and happiness.
This is what I like about the Show. Other kids shows make Villains only seem like Villains. But this one is Completely Different. This show gives us the Ability to Empathize with the Villains. Give us time to make understand the Characters. Catra became my Favorite not because I thought she was Pretty. But because I can see myself in her. We somewhat have the same Personality. I feel the same Pain as her. But Catra herself is Deeper than any other Character in the show. I'm Glad I watched this Show 🥺🥺🥺❤️🖤
It baffles me that Cartoons like Rick and Morty are “adult” but this isn’t. I always forget that she-ra is a show. designed for a younger Audience The way it handles issues like abuse and trauma is commendable and better then most teen adult shows. Aside from Horde Prime I’d say that every single character is so complex that they could all be the hero of the story 💛
I can tell the people behind this show must have either some experience in this abuse, or maybe are really skilled in psychology. The show represents Catra as not exactly a ‘villain’ per-say, but a VERY misguided and abused character. There was a time when I thought it was going to be *impossible* to redeem catra, but I was wrong. I don’t think I ever understood a truly amazing redemption ark before catra. She comes to terms with the fact that she was the one who made the mistakes and pushed adora away, not the other way around. And the way she redeems herself is beautiful. She sacrifices her life to make up for all her mistakes, and the “I’m sorry, okay!” Is beautiful. It would take someone who truly understands they were in the wrong, to work up the courage to say that immediately, and not make excuses. Even after Adora saves her, she still tells herself and adora that she doesn’t matter. It is an act of selflessness, true and just. She isn’t trying to save herself. She knows she’s throwing away her life (at least that’s what she thinks) and she’s ready to make that sacrifice. The crew behind she ra NEEDS to make an adult show (not saying this isn’t one, but it looks like a kids show, which hides the older audiences from seeing it). The comedy, the characters, the lgbtq representation, and the psychological struggle within them ALL (adora thinks she can’t make any decisions that are about benefiting her, bow is the one to stay happy and cheerful so he has trouble getting angry when he should, glimmer lost her mom and is super self conscious and hard on herself, and catra is, well, CATRA.) I think shadow weaver abused catra because she really did remind her of herself, and shadow weaver hates herself. Either way, thanks for reading this, have a good day, and TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW ABOUT THIS SHOW ITS FREAKING BEAUTIFUL IT SHOULD GET AN EMMY!!! IT SHOULD BE ON TV SOMEDAY NOT JUST NETFLIX ITS A CINEMATIC MASTERPIECE AHHH!!!
Yeah, Steven universe tried to do the same thing but it kinda fell flat and felt 'oh we're good now even though we've shown no glimpse of remorse.' This show makes me love every character except horde prime and honestly? That's amazing.
Catra thought no one cared about her, in the end all she had to do was accept someone’s love for her, and that person was her childhood friend/lover adora, had it not been for catra, adora would’ve definitely died at the end.
If you think about it, many say the kiss saved universe when, really, it didn't. Adora sacrificing herself would still save the universe, while killing her and Catra. Their love saved themselves, in an emotional and litteral way. Truly beautiful imo.
@@giuseppepiuma1965 Not really. Adora sacrificing herself would've killed her and Catra (the main ship of the show, as GlimBow, Scorfuma, and Netossa are axillary ships to Catradora), as we don't want to know if the ensuing energy wave that followed would've defeated Horde Prime (most likely not, since along with magic, love is Horde Prime''s 2nd weakness). As it stands, Adora accepting Catra's love brought out She-Ra, allowing her to pull a Dues Ex Machina to basically save herself, revive a dead Catra, and banish Horde Prime hopefully forever after purging him from Hordak.
Shadow Weavers sacrifice doesn't make up for years of abuse... but it helped pave the way for Catra and Adora to finally start to heal. She was a terrible person, but in the end she did one good thing with her life. Even though it cost everything.
This is the best Catra redemption video I’ve seen. I’m a straight white male and this show brought tears to my eyes. I never stopped believing in you Catra! Remember, opening up your heart makes you vulnerable, but it doesn’t make you weak, and it’s always worth it!
When Adoraband Catra’s relationship fell it started with the promise, and the fact that the promise was here to mend it again broke me. : “you look out for me, and I look out for you. Nothing really bad can happen as long as we have each other,” “ you promise?” “I promise”: “I’m going to take you home Catra,” “you promise?” “I promise” 🤝
Overwhelmed by anger and feelings of betrayal, a want for acceptance gnawing at her soul with little idea of how to truly get it, succumbing the her darker impulses... But it all came crashing down regardless. The empire she'd been trying to build crumbling beneath her feet. Then taken by a force of pure evil, her fears brought to light and her mind violated. But then the broken road led to where it always had to lead: to the only guiding light she'd ever had in her life. Back to Adora. Back to friendship and warmth. And love. Thus is Catra, who's been through the darkness and come out the other side, a better woman than before and with the love she'd always secretly wanted now hers.
I'm SO glad i found this video! Almost every Catra video i saw was about her being just the villain or just the good guy in the end with Adora, but almost none showed all her development as a character!!! All the things she went through, all the pain, all the times she was rejected or left behind, and the total of ZERO times anyone said that was proud of her, truly proud. Some people might say that those stuff don't "turn" someone into the "bad guy", and yeah, they could be right, but that plus the way she was raised... i feel sorry for her, i love her so much and i was SO happy when she finally got the happy ending she deserved ❤
Mme. Veronica I don’t believe in my opinion it’s better than Zuko’s. If it was better paced then it might be close to Zuko’s but it’s not better than Zuko’s to me.

I got a large majority of scenes from UA-cam (through using a UA-cam downloader) and here www.picuki.com , I just searched for She-ra scene packs and similar terms. Good luck and tell me If you end up making that edit 🤍
there's a reason why so many abuse kids favor Catra in this show and I'm no different, this show actually changed me somewhat and it's why it's my favorite cartoon of the 2010s
TwT how dare you I almost cried again this is so beautiful Its the "there's no one left in the universe who cares about me" followed by adora proving time and time again that she never stopped caring........
Catra’s hair being cut was a metaphor since hair carries trauma and pain. When it was all chopped off, so were her traumas and limiting beliefs and she was in a new beginning
TW The BIGGEST thing about Catra that hurt me is something that isnt even directly addressed: when Shadow Weaver is in her cell and caresses Catra's hair tufts, the next time we see her, they're gone. It's because Catra knew it was one last attempt to manipulate her, so she got rid of them. Thing is, we knew how unstable she was, how little she cared about her own health. She wouldn't have taken the time to cut them. She almost definitely just grabbed them, and ripped them out. Also, whenever she needs to repress her feelings, she runs her claws through her hair.
Oh my god I’d never thought about that like I thought her hair just changed with her new look (which was one that she choose to make her look more confident and authoritative). But canonically her ripping out her hair makes so much sense for her character.
The thing is, I think Catra still loved her long hair, tufts & all. After all, when we see her mind controlled by Horde Prime, she has a short pixie cut rather than the wild mane she's had for the past 4 seasons.
I was surprised how well written Catra’s development was, and was also quite happy because AJ was the only reason I watched the show in the first place
I think the show could’ve done more to redeem her in S5 but I understand they had little time and a million other things to do. I quite like Catra as a character and all her relationships (complex as they may be). You should totally rewatch it tho, you’ll have a great time 😊
OH MY GOD THIS IS AMAZING how on earth did you manage to capture her character so beautifully- I'm at a loss for words akskkakapa this is incredible, fantastic job.
I love catra's redemption, like I loved kylo ren's. But, I don't think most of etheria will agree about letting her walk around. She is a war criminal.
The promised crata and adora made when they were kids was adorable and they kept it and protected each other like in season 1 crata protected her form being found out by the Hored about being Shera and in the last season they protected each other and saved each other like how Carta saved adorable form dieing and they both confessed there love to each other they saved each other

@@ghostlyhedgehog2683 yeah that 100% right all you said.....but actually that validate more now in my eyes this one of Catra.....the best redemption arc are even better....when the actual person is really a BADGUY.....Zuko was misunderstood, he did some bad stuffs but never nothing that cost anyone life, he knew even early on what sometimes the Firenation did was wrong, thats why he got his face burned.....but also that show he never was really a bad person......so really that diminish a little bit his suppose redemption....he was a good person all along..........CATRA DONT she never was a good person with anyone, she didnt cared about anyone, not the Horde, not her comrades, not SHADOW WEAVER..........but there was only one person she did, and show that very deep there was some good and that was always with Adora, and even that still she did actual horrible stuff that even cost the life of someone (Angela) so.......yeah she have to be REDEEM and earn that....some of the best redemption arcs have done on real badguys.....VEGETA, PICOLO from Dragon Ball....Serverus Snape from Harry Potter, Theon Greyjoy or Jaimi Lannister from Game of Thrones, these weren't misunderstood souls, these were FUCKING MAJOR ASSHOLES who did horrible things and kill or caused someone to die....but found redemption, so yeah I didnt say that Catra have a better arc, I just said that her redemption and developed arc are still one of the best I have seen since ZUKO.
@@Kusanagikaiser999 thank you i loved how you put this in words it explains more than what the person you were talking to about. and I believe this is one of the best character redemption and development since Zuko
"adora doesnt want me" giiiiirl
It’s true painnnnnnn 💔
Catra echoing her younger self as she asks "You promise?", cutting immediately to Adora saying "I promise!" to chipped Catra... oh man, that HURT SO *GOOD.*
This show has such great parallels, it gives me endless joy to point them out 💖
I thought long and hard about why Catra's arc resonates with me so much.
Catra shows me it's not too late for me to get a redemption arc and happiness.
truth seeing this i can see myself as catra and strive for redemption and start over that's why catra is my favorite in the series
@@accelerator5410 yeah
Letsbe a Bean luckily TONS of articles have our backs. I think someday it will get the recognition it deserves! Hopefully...
Yeah, Steven universe tried to do the same thing but it kinda fell flat and felt 'oh we're good now even though we've shown no glimpse of remorse.' This show makes me love every character except horde prime and honestly? That's amazing.
Mockaries even hordak has become a best boi!!!
@@giuseppepiuma1965 Adora accepting Catra’s love brought shera
I have to agree, even if the failsafe was activated, It was Shera who personally destroyed Horde Prime. Without Catra, that would not have happened.
Shadow Weavers sacrifice doesn't make up for years of abuse... but it helped pave the way for Catra and Adora to finally start to heal.
She was a terrible person, but in the end she did one good thing with her life. Even though it cost everything.
Agree 100%
This is the best Catra redemption video I’ve seen. I’m a straight white male and this show brought tears to my eyes. I never stopped believing in you Catra! Remember, opening up your heart makes you vulnerable, but it doesn’t make you weak, and it’s always worth it!
Happy Catradora day everyone.
Here is another great character study video I recommend:

I like how they didn’t slap us with a sudden redemption and instead gave us one that was thought out and had a reason
And that’s why she’s my favorite character
Yeah Last year I was praising for her redemption arc and well, wish granted. But I suppose it’s a little rushed for me like everyone says.
I literally NEED a She-Ra movie. I neeeeeed to see catra and adora get married or at least see them go on more adventures.

Season 1-3: Downfall
Season 4: Death
Season 5: Rebirth
This is absolutely amazing! I love Catra's arc throughout the series! Her growth and redemption arc throughout season 5 is incredible to witness!
Thank you I worked really hard on it 💜 I’m also really glad she got redeemed as well 💙
I'm SO glad i found this video!
The feelings actually hit me like a bus

Catra’s hair being cut was a metaphor since hair carries trauma and pain. When it was all chopped off, so were her traumas and limiting beliefs and she was in a new beginning

This is beautiful. Got me crying so hard
TW
The BIGGEST thing about Catra that hurt me is something that isnt even directly addressed: when Shadow Weaver is in her cell and caresses Catra's hair tufts, the next time we see her, they're gone.
That makes a painful amount of sense...how dare you make me cry like this.....
The thing is, I think Catra still loved her long hair, tufts & all. After all, when we see her mind controlled by Horde Prime, she has a short pixie cut rather than the wild mane she's had for the past 4 seasons.
🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺 my poor child
