songs wont do it, you need to change the heart mind and soul....songs like this and other types that were popular back then...guess what? there are even more starving and in poverty today in third world countries. Why? because the heart mind and souls havent been changed. freedom and liberty are the answer to the human condition, and until that criteria are met, all the songs with all the stars will do nothing.
@F.Tonkonst You're second statement is the exact kind of thing that promotes reaction from one side or another. "the other side/team doesn't / does this" Blaming others and not accepting responsibility for the same action is exactly why things go the way they are. Get out of the tribalism mindset and think for yourself. Find truth in facts and weigh them against your emotions and find the balance. Quit relying on un proven facts of social media hearsay and research what is being told to you as facts and verify.
im not sure where you get the idea that promoting freedom and liberty is some sort of tribalism. the greatest advancements in world history have taken place in the fertile environment of freedom and liberty, in the western thought and culture that fosters that kind of thinking. any one can see that the third world is the third world because they lack western culture and the ideas of freedom and liberty. be condescending all you like, but truth isnt something i bargain with.

Kai every time this song and video come up, I love watching it and trying to remember each singers name. For some reason I always have problems remembering James Ingram and Kim Carnes
Everyone cried when we first saw that and I still tear up seeing it. We’d never seen anything like this, ever, and it was powerful. Plus, it wasn’t totally cut together (some was), but they were all there together! So cool.
I think, by far, that is your best reaction video. I loved your excitement each time a new legend started singing. I was literally waiting for when Ray Charles to start singing, and to see your excitement. You didn't disappoint me. Thank you for doing this video. I was lucky enough to see this when it first aired, but forgot the feelings it evoked in my until I saw this video. Powerful song, powerful mission, and powerful reaction by you!
Michael and Lionel wrote the song in less than 20 minutes. And this video, was recorded after an awards show. I remember it the first time, my reaction was the same as it is today. The 80s were the best. Maybe that's why so many of my movies are being remade, badly. Because, once you reach iconic status, it CAN'T be remade. Watch the behind the scenes video about making this, people were starving to death in Africa. We were more united as a country and as people back then, we didn't have our faces glued to phones.
Michael was the one that worked the hardest to get this song going, if you have a few minutes, watch the video of how it was made... you'll be VERY surprised!!
What a collection of talent....Steve Perry,Michael Jackson,Diana Ross,Huey Lewis,etc....what a crew.Where else could you get Ray Charles and Stevie a Wonderful together.
I feel ya, man... I was born in 1959 so I was lucky enough to experience all of the great music of the 1960s, 70s and 80s... I remember when this song came out, we knew it was special (because it was for a special cause) but obviously didn't know how it would be resonating so many years later. Thank goodness people like you can play this for people who don't know it and spread the word.... ❤️. (Only thing I wish on your video was that I could hear your voice during it as you reacted... although it was pretty easy to read your lips! 😀)
I loved seeing the joy on your face while you experienced this song. I was 6 when this song was released. My parents bought me the cassette tape which I wore out, and then they bought me another one. So many happy memories tied to this song. Love that I've found your channel. I'm really enjoying your journey of discovery.
I remember when this song was recorded and it still gives me goose bumps. It is still relevant today. The best thing is they had them all there, at one time, recording, not separate and put together like they do it now.
Watching this took me back to when I was proud of the USA. As I watch this I see your heart on your face. We all felt Joy back then when we cared for each other.
Your right, I should always speak for myself knowing that we all experience life different. The veterans that I know don't get the respect they deserve. This is only one of the things that makes me sad.
When Michael sang my heart just melted 😍😩💜 RIP to the King of Pop. I absolutely love every thing about this video, this is what we should be doing together, not fighting.
Oh I haven't heard this in SO long. Thank your grandma for me for bringing this back into our minds and hearts. We need this message now more than ever.
Thank you for your reviews!! You are great and you reacting to these music videos, especially Queen & this song, & George Michael singing “ somebody to love”, have helped me get through a rough couple of months. This is absolutely beautiful and my mom and I could never get enough of this song riding along in the car listening to the radio. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Queen wanted to be a part of this but they were touring on the other side of the globe and weren’t asked. They weren’t even sure the band was back from their tour and Queen Wasn’t listed as a band performance for live aid. Bob Geldof found out that they returned from there worldwide tour in May 1985 and two weeks before live aid got a hold of Queen’s Manager and got the band in there at the last minute. ❤️❤️ that was a wonderful cause and now they are having another famine in Africa. It would be beautiful for groups to get together and raise this kind of funding together again. I love Dionne Warwick and it’s such a shame we don’t have Michael Jackson anymore. All of them made this song beautiful but Michael and Dionne along with Steven Perry from journey, were some of my favorites. I don’t think that Diana Ross ever aged; plus , Stevie wonder, Lionel Richie!! These people are in legends❤️❤️ they don’t have the same talent around now that they did back in the 1980s and the 1970s and 80s was the best music.
I ❤ Your Grandmother!!!! Tell her she has an incredible taste in music and she also has an incredible, smart & absolutely lovely Grandson. So powerful! Can you react to "Collective Soul - The World I Know ( Official Video )".
The US anthem for Live Aid. The British anthem was Do They Know It's Christmas. I was 8 years old, and I still remember it. Your grandmother has great taste :)
Yes, Canada did it's contribution with Canadian artists the sing was called Tears are not Enough and the group of artists called themselves the Northern Lights! ua-cam.com/video/fsWGfQC3jMs/v-deo.html
Your reaction is a "one of a kind" to this iconic video. It's wonderful to see your joy to this ultra meaningful cut. May all the ones that have passed rest in peace. Joy to you for the coming 2021!
I was cheering right along with you man. This song came out when I was a kid. This was when music videos started becoming a thing. I always thought it was one of the most beautiful songs, and there was beautiful meaning behind it. It still makes me teary-eyed. So many people just wanted to help other people at that time. I wish it was still that way.
Best reaction ever!!:) I was 16 when this one came and hit me right in my heart, played it over and over... So I started to record it every night I heard it on the radio, until one side of the cassette tape was full, then I didn't have to rewind... Oh my, I'm so old.. It's a fantastic song and performance
In The Ghetto by Elvis Presley. This song will hit your heart. Your reactions are so open and raw. It is awesome to see someone your age with such an open mind. Thanks for sharing.
WOW what a room full of incredible talent. Every known star of the day , all in one place, at one time..shining like a star and sounding like angels .......would I LOVE to see this happen again today...
What you said after they were done touched my heart. I was in high school in the 70s. Greatest music was 60s, 70s, and 80s. The songs meant something back then. I miss those days.
Thank you for this video! I hadn't listened to it since the 80s! You couldn't get away from it! It received a LOT of airplay on radio and Mtv! It was emotional revisiting it after so many years and seeing the youthfulness of the icons! Amazing!
I just love your reactions to the 70s, the best decade of music. Sad that now, so many of the artists in this production have passed on.Thanks for the wonderful memory, friend.
As my mom would say, you have an old soul. That's what she always told me about my taste in music and the scope and range of the music I enjoy. I agree with your assessment of this song, too; we need more positive messages like that again. There can never be too many. Some of the singers in here I would love to see you react to, since you mentioned Joel, are Steve Perry, Bruce Springsteen, Kenny Loggins and Daryl Hall. When you get the chance you should definitely check out a song called "Mother, Father" by Journey, their live performance from a 1981 concert in Houston. I've heard Journey do that song since, but IMO, there was never a better vocal performance on it than that one by Steve Perry.
Look how young they all are! What a fabulous song and video. Very happy that most of these artists are still with us. RIP Michael Jackson, Ray Charles, James Ingram, and Al Jarreau.
❤️✌🏻❤️ It's been a while since I watched/heard this...and I'm just sitting here with tears running down my cheeks! Our country needs to get back to this kind of love and compassion as our public identity! ✌🏻❤️✌🏻
I’m old so I remember when they got together & made this & like you, I would see someone that was/is still a legend & it made me so happy. And it was for a good cause so that made it even more special. I hadn’t heard this song for a few DECADES & it gave me chills just like when I heard it then. THANK YOU for bringing back a beautiful song for a 54 year old woman like me! LOVE your reactions & I’m glad I subscribed to you!
This was amazing, like 45 of the best singers in the USA singing for a wonderful cause. I know you don't have kids yet, but you're passing the music of my generation to those of your generation, and you can keep passing it on to nieces, nephews, cousins, you're keeping our music alive, and that's more precious then gold.
I remember they made this song. it was after the American Music Awards back in 1985 all of these start had already be in the same room and all agreed to do this without been paid. So where UA-cam you might find the behind the scene footage of them recording the song.
yes there full video hosted by Jane Fonda at A&M studios where the stars are coming in to record the song. Quincy is directing them and all. Its a good vid somewhere on youtube
This made me cry. I just want you to know you are not alone in feeling that you’re born in the wrong time. Many people who are passionate about history, including music history, feel like they are very disconnected with current times. It’s good that you’ve recognized this. You can find people with the same passion & have a connection there. That’s a good start.
This IS your time kid. Every generation has its good and bad. Music is just one thing. When it comes to music look at it this way, you get to enjoy most of the music today AND all the decades of good music from the past. Old farts like me who were weened on Led Zeppelin and got spoiled rotten from that generation of bands and music, are limited in what they enjoy in new music. So you’ve got it better buddy boy. Watching you discover my generation’s over the radio and record store new music is super fun.
Uh, this guy's on crack. The 80s is, and always will be, the greatest decade of music. It was the musical version of the cambrian explosion and it won't be repeated. You will never see that kind of diversity and raw creativity again.
@@WOranos sorry kiddo, but nothing like the 70s. A lot of 60s music is great too. They lost it by the 80s, which I listened to as well, so I speak from experience, as I graduated HS in 81.
I was a teenager when this song was made, so many fond memories of seeing all the artists in their prime, like they live in my memory and how i was too.
Great reaction! Loved the look on your face during the song! This song was so big, when it came out. I remember singing to it in the car as a teenager. 👏👏👏
Powerful song and absolutely amazing music with our legends. We need music like this for our country. Thank you for bringing back this memory for me. 👍👍
My favourite female singer was there. The beautiful and extremely talented Cyndi Lauper. Another great live performance is Cyndi Lauper Live in Paris 1987 - Baby Work Out.
I never tire of watching it. She is wonderful and I'd say she is the only female artist I actually enjoy. Queen are my favourites and some songs are ok by other women but Cyndi is amazing and under rated.
It's the collaboration of all these talented singers and the message they are giving. I've loved this song since it came out back when. I wish more of the your generation could see what you see. Thank you for sharing & making me reminisce. And yes it brought tears to my eyes!
This song and "the earth song" from Michael Jackson + "Emagine" from John Lennon are the most important songs in my life. I hope they explane to new generations how important it is to live in peace and respect each other. To Day i celebrate my birthday of 65. My generation didn't do enough fore the earth and peace. I hope future generations are not to late to turn it around. James, you are one of the Peoples that gave me hope. Do your best. That's all you can do. 😙

Louis Johnson (Bass) (The Brothers Johnson)
Michael Omartian (Keyboards, Producer)
Greg Phillinganes (Keyboards)
John Robinson (Drums)
Ray Charles (Piano)
and ist still a fantastic song.
I already know the lyrics
;-)
Should've given Dan Aykroyd a solo. :p
Kai every time this song and video come up, I love watching it and trying to remember each singers name. For some reason I always have problems remembering James Ingram and Kim Carnes
One of the greatest accomplishments was that all of the EGOs could give up their spotlight for the greater whole...
Everyone cried when we first saw that and I still tear up seeing it. We’d never seen anything like this, ever, and it was powerful. Plus, it wasn’t totally cut together (some was), but they were all there together! So cool.
Me too.
One of the happiest moments in music history!!!!💜💜💜💜 Thank you Grandma!!!
So much talent in one room, just amazing
Watching the younger generation like yourself watching this brings joy to my heart.
Such a great song.
The star power in that room that day was amazing and will probably never happen again.
8:08 "I was born in the wrong era". And I say, mate, that you can't imagine how exciting that era was.
Quincy Jones was a genius for this song. So many different voices and styles and he made them fit into a classic choir song.
Quincy? 😂
@@DuranSarah What's so funny? He was one of a couple of people who made that song happen.
That song Alway's give me chills, and all the singer's Look's so young☺
You made your Grandmother proud with your reaction and words! It's nice to see the younger generation appreciating that song!!
You just have to love everyone dressed casual.....then there is Michael, lol. Makes me smile every time.
For him that WAS casual
Michael was the one that worked the hardest to get this song going, if you have a few minutes, watch the video of how it was made... you'll be VERY surprised!!
Hahaha. Love your observation!
@@sergiodc2948 , I've seen it decades ago on VHS, after it came out, lol. It was an amazing achievement at the time.
What a collection of talent....Steve Perry,Michael Jackson,Diana Ross,Huey Lewis,etc....what a crew.Where else could you get Ray Charles and Stevie a Wonderful together.
You make me happy. You are a messenger now. Its an important job. People are watching your reactions and youre guiding them. Youre doing a great job.
TheShannon681 AGREED! He makes me smile every time.
Totally Agree! James is THE MAN. Keep up the good work!
Great comment!
Yes he is great, he was the first one I started to watch liked it so I stayed. Found many outhers
Thanks to him to getting me hooked on
Keep up your love for older music. Bless you from and old guy.
You look so happy. Like you just Un wrapped the best gift ever.❤❤❤❤❤❤
I remember when this song was recorded and it still gives me goose bumps. It is still relevant today. The best thing is they had them all there, at one time, recording, not separate and put together like they do it now.
What was the best part, when Stevie and Bruce were singing together or when Ray Charles came in? Hard not to smile when you see Ray Charles
Watching this took me back to when I was proud of the USA. As I watch this I see your heart on your face. We all felt Joy back then when we cared for each other.

Speak for yourself. We still care. 🇺🇸👊
Your right, I should always speak for myself knowing that we all experience life different. The veterans that I know don't get the respect they deserve. This is only one of the things that makes me sad.
@@patriciajeffries3858 I agree with u on that. Take care.
I'm still Very Proud of the USA! I Love our country....we are SO, Very fortunate to live here ❤❤❤🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 God Bless, the USA!
When Michael sang my heart just melted 😍😩💜 RIP to the King of Pop. I absolutely love every thing about this video, this is what we should be doing together, not fighting.
The delight of this moment was watching your sweet, sweet reaction to this song that moved us ALL back in the 80's.
Your reaction as the song played almost brought me to tears. Music obviously speaks to you.
You have no idea how I miss the old days of music. James Ingram was my favorite voice, but all these songs are so relevant today
Oh I haven't heard this in SO long. Thank your grandma for me for bringing this back into our minds and hearts. We need this message now more than ever.
Artists from all types of music came together and made a beautiful song.
One of my favorite songs of all times. Your grandmother has great taste in music.
I'm so old i know every artist on this, from Ray Charles, and Dionne Warwick to Bob Geldoff and Cyndi Lauper 😁 great video!!
Maryjane Mckenrick, that's too funny ... I was thinking the exact same thing while watching this video! 😀
You are not alone 😀
I'm 14 and I know every artist on this, even tho I'm not realy into popmusic (I love metal) but these people are all legends
Maryjane Mckenrick me too! I remember when this came out on the radio I had to stop what I was doing and just take it all in💜
Don't be silly..lol. So do many of us!!!
I believe this was after an award show, everyone was invited and told to leave their egos outside the door, it turned out great.
Almost 35 years now (!!) and my reaction is STILL just like yours when I watch this video
Your face when “ the Boss” starts to sing.....
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The Boss! 🖤🖤
Right? He stands out even in this crowd.
Ya, because the boss looks so stupid when he sings.
Your Grandmother has awesome taste. This brings back so many memories.
I am a 62 year old women and I shed a few tear when I hear this beautiful song. thank you
The US anthem for Live Aid. The British anthem was Do They Know It's Christmas. I was 8 years old, and I still remember it. Your grandmother has great taste :)
Yes, Canada did it's contribution with Canadian artists the sing was called Tears are not Enough and the group of artists called themselves the Northern Lights! ua-cam.com/video/fsWGfQC3jMs/v-deo.html
ronnie james dio did something similar hear n aid. "we are stars'
Shout out to Grandma! I got chills listening to this again, it's been so long. We NEED this type of music in the world again
Awesome song. Remember when this came out. Still goosebumps and teats today. Thank you 👏👏🎶💞🌈
Your reaction is a "one of a kind" to this iconic video. It's wonderful to see your joy to this ultra meaningful cut. May all the ones that have passed rest in peace. Joy to you for the coming 2021!
This song makes me cry 😭 we should love each other be kind and loving it's that simple ❤️
I had forgotten this. I'm 61, and I recognized each and every one of them. Thank GOD for these artists.
I love that you love 1980s and said you were born in wrong decade. RESPECT!! Bro!
One of the best songs ever.....so beautiful and inspiring.....
The best part is when Stevie Wonder and Bruce Springsteen is singing together
The best part is when it starts, and the worst part is when it ends :)
Yes absolutely. I saw Bruce Springsteen live he has such a powerful voice and who doesn’t love Stevie Wonder.
@@cherylbyrnes2826 The boss (Springsteen) was not well that day, but he sang anyway.
yep
For me, the best part is Perry's part.
Omg I’m crying, WHY? I was 9 when this came out, remember it clearly.
In The Ghetto by Elvis Presley. This song will hit your heart. Your reactions are so open and raw. It is awesome to see someone your age with such an open mind. Thanks for sharing.
Agree! I'm not a big Elvis fan, but THAT is a GREAT song!
RIP MJ, Ray Charles, James Ingram, Kenny Rogers. It was so amazing that we have this gem. Thanks Quincy for this great idea!
This video always makes me cry.
Check out DO THEY KNOW IT'S CHRISTMAS By Band Aid a.k.a. FEED THE WORLD
I was coming here to suggest this. We Are the World was the US answer to the Brits' song, "Feed The World."
Definitely check this one out, especially now with Christmas around the corner. You will really enjoy it!
Do they know it's Christmas always makes me cry. Yet I love it so much when it comes on the radio.
You and me both. And I don't usually listen to Christmas songs, but I'll listen to that one all year long.
@Nicole Jessica Problem is they don't and they don't care. in most of cases they're not Christians so it means not much to THEM...
Music and humour brings the world together. 7 Spanish angels is really beautiful.
Thank you for this video! I hadn't listened to it since the 80s! You couldn't get away from it! It received a LOT of airplay on radio and Mtv! It was emotional revisiting it after so many years and seeing the youthfulness of the icons! Amazing!
I think its the best selling single of all time!
Luna Blu Same here. Brought back many memories, and some tears.
Such amazing voices. My only regret is that Whitney was not a part of this. If this song doesn’t give you chills, you are not human.
I don't know if she was a star yet.
It's such a beautiful song and the artists voices come together so well. Hard for me to watch this without crying for some reason.
Because there was so much heart and good intentions that we don't feel right now as HUMANITY......
It makes me cry thinking about my teenage years and how so many of these artists are no longer with us.
Your grandma hit the nail on me head. Great song, great reaction. Then, people cared about each other. They tried to make change.
I play this song for more than 100.x I love it forever. One of the very best from the most beautiful singers from USA.
Me too luv but we had life like that they can only amagen through our music witch is brilliant and we just got better not old happy new day
Pam. I'm 54. We share the same memories.
Old farts?? I called us old foggies!!! 😂😂😂😂 I hope you have a wonderful and blessed day!!! 😊😊😊😊 🐧🐧
I'm an 80s kid and I can't stand current music at all. I'd rather listen to old stuff, from Hank to Journey, to Pantera from Dr Dre
I was a teenager when this song was made, so many fond memories of seeing all the artists in their prime, like they live in my memory and how i was too.
Great reaction! Loved the look on your face during the song! This song was so big, when it came out. I remember singing to it in the car as a teenager. 👏👏👏
I've watched your reaction to this song dozens of times and it warms my heart...such a joy to watch. Take care.
YES. Yes. ♥️
What a beautiful reaction! I loved this song too when it was released.
I had Live In Paris on VHS. 🖤
I never tire of watching it. She is wonderful and I'd say she is the only female artist I actually enjoy. Queen are my favourites and some songs are ok by other women but Cyndi is amazing and under rated.
The full concert on here. :)

When lauper follows Huey .. goose bumps! Best part for me!
lol Cyndi Lauper had so many bangles on they had to tell her to take them off because of the noise it made
It's the collaboration of all these talented singers and the message they are giving. I've loved this song since it came out back when. I wish more of the your generation could see what you see. Thank you for sharing & making me reminisce. And yes it brought tears to my eyes!
I feel the same way about music. In the 60's thru to the 80's had a whole different feel.
I was thinking of those same songs, Els!!!!
It's spelled Imagine.
They were all very famous at that time and some of them as you said are still famous to this day.
Another great time for music and compassion.
Loved your reaction!👏🏾 I loved how your were genuinely delighted to see these artists and you, 'felt' the song.
I remember this recording and after all these years, with so many of these amazing artists gone now, it still brings tears to my eyes!! Thanks!
