Thank you for watching this Poco Navigation Gesture With Third Party Launcher and Horizontal Recent Apps Menu Guide (I know, long title)! Please leave a comment if you have any questions--i'm using this very setup on my Poco F3 and F4 GT right now!
@@alpertwang4003 it's been awhile since I tested, but I believe fluid navigation gestures will work as well. I'm just hoping MIUI 14 improves in this area.
Great, works fine. My only problem with this is that the gestures register only after you lift your finger/thumb, whereas on real gestures the commands work in real-time (eg. Recents pop up _while_ you swipe up instead of swiping up then lifting your finger). I guess it's a limitation that won't go away as long as Google continues to be stubborn about giving third-party developers access to gestures API.
I agree, the Full Screen Gestures app isn't a great replacement for native gestures, but you're right--that's the best we can do right now. I've heard you can get better support if you root your device and use some different apps, but that comes with its own headaches of course.
Hi, some updates after a couple of days testing this: 1. I switched from Full Screen Gestures back to Fluid Navigation Gestures for a couple of reasons: a. My biggest issue: Full Screen Gestures' bottom far swipe threshold on lowest sensitivity requires swiping up by nearly 5cm from bottom bezel (quite tiring to do it all the time, especially when using the phone with one hand), compared to Fluid Navigation Gestures' at roughly 2.5cm. b. Full Screen Gestures' trigger bars are quite thick even at lowest sensitivity (0.2cm thick); the side bars in particular, interfere with UIs on the edge of the screen a lot (eg. I often find letters like 'q' and 'p' on the keyboard not registering because I'm used to pressing on the edge of the screen for the extreme left/right keys). c. Fluid Navigation Gestures has an option named "Quick secondary action", which allows the far swipe action to immediately execute without having to lift my finger. It's still not perfect because on native gestures you can swipe up and down to freely go in between primary and secondary action, but it's a step closer to native gestures. d. Fluid Navigation Gestures work in Settings for some reason. 2. The bug you mentioned about Full Screen Gestures not running after the phone goes to deep sleep is because MIUI's Security app clears it from memory completely. Locking the app in Security → Settings → Boost speed → Lock apps will fix this issue (very annoying MIUI 'feature'). Once again thanks for the video, was about to give up on Nova Launcher after discovering the old ADB method of hiding the navigation bar doesn't work in MIUI 13 but I can go back to it now.
@@osamu_90 Thank you so much for the update and testing! I will absolutely give fluid navigation gestures a try as well as locking it in security settings! I might need to include this in the next Poco phone review I make.
Nice vid as usual. Since I saw you use gboard I thought I'd ask... Why does gboard not auto correct as I type Google searches? I guess that's the same for you ?
Miui still sucks! Just revert from pixelos today on my poco after months. And this problem is still there! If only my battery didn't have any issue on pixel I'd never revert to miui. But thanks bud
Hello Rekk! Yes, this doesn't solve all of the issues with MIUI. I hope Xiaomi will make changes with Android 13, but I doubt it. Sorry to hear Pixel OS was giving you problems!
Hello MT hacks! Yes, I went back and forth on that. I just wish they would allow gestures with third party launchers natively. It’s a sore point for me on all Xiaomi devices.

Hi, great content! Do you know a way to activate gestures on a Xiaomi 13? When selecting Gestures in System Navigation, I get this message that I have to use System Launcher in order to use gestures, so 8t won't work on 3rd party launchers. Thanks again!
Hello Kristian! Thank you! Unfortunately, I'm not sure how. I've tried on Poco devices running the latest MIUI, but I can't figure out a good way of doing it. I've seen some examples of users rooting their phones just to use third party launchers with gesture navigation, but I don't think it's worth it. You could check out Sam Beckman's MIUI customization video, it may at least give you some ideas for customizing the MIUI launcher to have it function in a more suitable fashion. Sorry I can't be of more help! Maybe the next version of MIUI will allow this!
@@phonecomp Is there's a workaround? Dark mode really helps with eyestrain and battery life and prevents burn-in. I hope you can help to figure this one out.
thanks, but for me this is a nogo... having to install like 3 or 4 apps with ads in them and even giving one of them full access to everything... not my cup of tea. guess ill just accept the poco launcher for what it is.
Hello Almostbakerzero! I agree, it's a pretty pitiful solution and it doesn't even work with MIUI 14. I just wish Xiaomi would allow 3rd party launchers to use gestures, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.
I'm using a redmi 11 and it seems to work. Except that when I try to use the "home" function, it brings me back to the default OS instead of staying on nova launcher. Any chance you might know a way to fix this?
@@phonecomp Yeap. Thing is if I change it to nova then turn on gestures again, it says that it will automatically change back to the system os as its not supported on third parties. Aka it doesn't let me choose. For now I've just left it on buttons and made the fullscreen gestures cover the buttons. It works but man are those buttons ugly
@@RO_JD I absolutely agree, and I hope MIUI 14 will change this and Xiaomi will just allow native gesture support for third party launchers. The behavior you're seeing is still what every Poco, Redmi, and Xiaomi phone I've tested displays. I'm going to put out an update to this video after I test a device with 14, hopefully I can find a better solution.
Hello Ela! Ah, ok. Yes, that is a rough trade. I plan on making an updated video when MIUI 14 rolls out. Hopefully the gestures and customization options will be much improved.
Hello! I'm trying to figure out how to restore functionality in MIUI 14, but so far I haven't been able to. I will definitely make a video about it if I find a way!
My workaround on the MIUI 14 Fullscreen gesture is use FNG app then change the bottom swipe up into opening Nova Launcher or any 3rd party launcher then you just put your homescreen into default first while FNG enabled then viola after bottom swiping up it would stay in full gesture
Im a MI 10T PRO user, i cant use full screen gesture with nova launcher after i update to android12,miui13. HOW TO ENABLE FULL SCREEN GESTURE? FSG IS NOT WORKING.
Hello Maju! I have not figured out a way to enable fsg with third party launchers with MIUI 13 on non-Poco devices. I tried on the 11T and Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus 5G and just could not find a way. It's another frustrating part of MIUI for now I think. Sorry I don't have better news! I'll keep looking for a solution though (that doesn't require rooting or flashing a custom ROM).
Hello Kimura! Oh no! I was worried about that. As soon as I get a MIUI 14 device in for testing I'll see if there is another work around. Thank you for letting me know!
